Really negative experience with this company being an owner at the resort! Do not recommend anyone to become an owner! Resort is fine enough to visit, but I would never go to a presentation again. They sold us a scam and we were ripped off buying a timeshare here. Not worth the money. Sales people sold it to us as an "investment property" and acted like it was worth a lot of money and could sell it later on. Let me tell you, there is no market at all to sell these timeshares and even if you can find someone to give it to, it's extremely unlikely to get even half of what you paid for it back. From what I've seen it would be hard to even get 1/4 of what they charged us for it even if we could find a buyer. They went on about how much it would save us on vacations, but failed to bring up all the extra fees we did not understand we were getting into. So it is absolutely not saving any money on vacations! We would have way more options and travel way cheaper if we never bought a timeshare! It's ridiculous. Not worth even listening to the presentation. Worst part is they REFUSE to let us return the TS. So if you can't sell it and they won't let us out no matter what we've dealt with. Then I guess you're just stuck for life with fees that keep going up!

I'm an "owner". Westgate charge owners around $1k supposedly for tax and maintenance (!?) We are average cleaned people, so we have to clean the toilet, sinks, wipe cabinets and hand dishwashing, otherwise we can't used them. I dont think they clean the floor neither give time maids to do it. It is obvious that the management has designed the room services- maintenance so the minimum-minimum is required. Pictures speaks for itself. Towels are small when this is a beach hotel and normally big ones are needed. The welcome cookies box was funny, with cookies inside of a ziploc sandwish bag from Walmart or Dollar Tree (where I use to buy many stuff, btw). Fridge was totally empty, not even ice in the bucke, neither a single bottle of water. This 'non-Resort' says 3-stars but runs like a regular 1-star hotel. I've been in others Westgate like River Ranch and Smokie Mountains and they looks like what supposed: Resorts. It is Westgate Resorts playing to Demographics games and that's why the big difference among them?
Customer Service was good, no complain about it; though we don't requested anything for a weekend. The are is great, the beach is lovely and the city is very attractive. We maybe will be back to Myrtle Beach, but for sure we are not going to spent a dime in that hotel even though we are supposed to have some discounts.

This place is very loud all day long, not a relaxing place. They have music blasting while they have tons of people coming and going as they try to sale Time Shares to couples. Way too busy to enjoy a quiet vacation.
There were pets all throughout the building as they say they are pet friendly. People leave their dogs in their room and they constantly bark. We ask to be moved and the girl at the front desk lied to us. As we asked for management, the manager miraculously was able to change our rooms. Hmm.
The water pressure is very low. It was hard to shower in low pressure. Also, the toilets takes 2 flushes each time.
The fan in both bathrooms never worked, as it gets really hot when you shower.
There is not enough plugs in rooms to charge phones, etc.
As we both had a phone needing to charge.
As far as cleanliness, it was good. Never had a issue with that.
But overall, this was not worth what we paid for this vacation.
We have stayed at other places that were way more private and roomy. And did not allow pets. This is not a place for pets. As there were larger breed of dogs as well. A man was going to enter the elevator with me and had a large dog. I told him, he needs to take another one. It was on a leash, but that leash would do no good in an enclosed elevator with another person if it decided to bite.
Our stay was from Thursday to Sunday as we Check out tomorrow.
Please, do your research as we did not. We were told it was a nice place. We were not aware of the busy crowds.

I really like the resort, the environment is cool, the place is also clean, the views are really beautiful, very suitable for a holiday with the family.

I would recommend you not become an owner. This company has lied repeatedly the management and front desk staff do not care after you sign up to become an owner. This resort is definitely not something you want to stay in. The company does not represent what they say when wanting you to become the owner having a home away from home. I contacted them about my room I was hung up on several times. Debbie stated she would call me back and when I called back 1.5 hour later she is now unavailable. They want to place an owner in a small studio with a pull-out couch. After i told them i need to prepare meals. You have been warned they sound good but you will regret you signed up. If it was not for Orlando Westgate would be null and void. So they know since they treated us like trash don't ask me to upgrade or anything. You have been warned bait and switch at its finest poor customer service at its finest but of course the owner is a millionaire.

Was sold on an ocean front view and ended up in a room looking directly at construction walls. TV in my bedroom is not working, no pots to cook in, AC unit is very loud. Ashamed to call myself an owner of this place.
22 October 2021 20:21
So far, the service and attention has been amazing. Securities at the pool are amazing and really funny, they make you feel happy. Overall everything is ok. We are enjoying our stay. Parking is in construction but it’s ok with us.
15 October 2021 8:00
Was terrible service at the front desk. Waited 30mins to finally get a room key since the first one didn’t work! Room is very small even with a timeshare. Definitely looking to switch over to somewhere better!

Absolutely disgusting! Any review that says different is a whole LIE! We booked 3 nights checked out after 1 and went to the Hilton Resort. Toilet broken, air conditioning leaking into the floor, rude staff. HORRIBLE absolutely nothing good to say about this place.
08 October 2021 6:02
What an amazing place Carlos and his staff was very professional, friendly, and let's talk about the Hospitality was out of this world. It made me want to leave my job to go back into the hospitality world. Keep up the great love of customer service, it shows how much you care. For the world we live in today we need someone to show some love.

We are Owners with Westgate our primary location is Florida. We were excited to finally get to Myrtle Beach. With the exception of toaster not working, bugs in the oven clock and room. No dish cloths even after asking. Handle on oven door continuously fell off. Inspite of these issues we enjoyed ourself. Hopefully upon return the parking will be better and housekeeping more efficient. But we always clean upon arrival even before covid. However, the bugs & parking issues are unacceptable for what we have invested as owners. We Westgate
BUT DO BETTER!

Even though so many rooms were available, given a deluxe suite on lowest floor with a construction side view, also room service was poor, not a good experience. Even the parking was far from the hotel and have to drive around few times to find a spot.
And it was a handicapped suite.really not a 3 star hotel experience.

Right on the beach: Check
Clean: Check
Nice staff: Check (but they are overworked/short-staffed)
Several pools: Check
Fun place for kids: Check
Allows dogs: Check
Room: Good beds, linens, TV, mini-fridge, etc
Housekeeping: No- no matter how many nights. They use the Covid excuse but obviously they are short-staffed and/or saving money
Food/drinks: One place open on site; not what was advertised
Food/drinks by pool: Nobody could tell us when we asked whether we could get food/drinks by pool but in the end, not available where we were
Resort? Not really. More below
Amenities? Not necessarily open or functioning. More below
Quiet to sleep? Probably not
Parking: Yes but not close and sometimes very far
Organization, knowledge of staff: Not great
Modern? No
Westgate Myrtle Beach feels like an old condo that they're trying to operate as a hotel. I think that's because that's exactly what it is.and maybe a number of the "resorts" here are the same. And so it doesn't have the luxury "resort" feel you may be used to or looking for.
I thought there were numerous restaurants on site, but there is just one restaurant (Drafts), a very long walk depending on where your room is. It had good food and service, though. There is a Friendly's across the street for good breakfast etc.
I thought there were food/drink available by pool. But when we asked, the staff didn't seem to know whether we could get food/drink by the pool and in the end we were unable to. It looks like there is a little poolside tiki hut type thing with food/drinks, it was advertised in the elevator, but it wasn't open.
Parking is not good and the staff was confused about giving us parking pass and telling us where to park- in any event, if you aren't lucky enough to have a spot in the lot across the street you could be hiking a loooong way.
When you check in, they don't tell you much.not about the activities (they can actually give you a calendar/activity sheet). They don't tell you that you can get beach chairs (we saw people by pool getting chairs from a staffer. When we asked, we were told they're free, but they had also just run out, and it was fairly early on a Mon.so they must not have many chairs). They don't tell you about food choices.they don't tell you about pool towels (available by the pool but they ran out Mon.morning). Fitness center (yes they have one).
They allow dogs but there are no places to walk dogs etc, just a very small square of grass out front in busy area where cars are pulling up for people to check in.
It was quite noisy at night, both sound from hallway and from next door.
Staff were nice but clearly overworked and, as my companions noted, there was a lot of marijuana smoking going on among the staff.
The rooms are clean and have good beds, TV etc but generally they feel old, old walls, old bathroom etc. Nothing wrong with them, but don't expect a totally modern facility. Feels like the 80s.
I had a question prior to check in because they only sent me preregistration for one of 2 rooms but it was nearly impossible to get someone on the phone to ask about it. I spent about 1 hr getting transferred to different numbers, people asking for my ownership acct number, I kept saying I'm not an owner, they didn't know what to do with me. They're set up as an owner operation but operating as a hotel, yet not set up to service the hotel questions by phone.
Even though I pre-checked in, they didn't have my notation that I had a pet ($100 extra).
They have "bistro" cafe that isn't a cafe, it's more like a sundries shop. The day I went there, there was one poor guy and 8 ppl waiting for ice cream or to pay w/no movement.
Pools seem nice but not a luxury feel, more like fun for kids.
Check-in took a long time/long wait.
Overall: I think if you have kids you'll be happier than people who don't.
Have somewhat low expectations and you will probably be pleased.
Have high expectations and you'll be somewhat disappointed.

Parking sucks, u have to park so far away from hotel. Never again 6/14/21 checked out & won’t go back. It wasn’t just parking, staffed lied & kept us in presentation for 3 hours & will grill you & look down on you if you don’t purchase a time share. We were told by Nicole we would get a free meal after presentation & then when we didn’t buy a timeshare she said we didn’t buy so we don’t eat. 2 Plug ins didn’t work in room, had sand in carpet, no towels, only had pool towels to dry on. We were told if we had a timeshare we would be in better room. You would think they would treat all guests great!
24 September 2021 8:03
As an owner this place is trash! My last visit for August 2021 was horrible! The front desk is rude! As if we the owners don’t pay their checks! Management is useless! Overall extremely disappointing visit. They overbooked gave me the wrong room. And pretty much was like oh well sorry! And to think I was going to upgrade I don’t think so! I canceled my room and stayed elsewhere.
22 September 2021 17:43
You need to know a lot of hidden issues before booking here to include:
1) no room cleaning available no matter how many nights you stay
2) parking is off site and at times numerous blocks away
3) You should bring your own beach or pool towels. They rarely restock and are near impossible to get
4) side of fresh fruit is a Doll plastic cup
5) Most treadmills are not working in exercise room
6) Extreme noise with baking dogs not addressed by staff
7) Construction not near completed
8) Many maintenance issues with tub and sink drainage on our floor. Not addressed at all when we called.

This place is very nice, clean and very friendly staff. We had a bad night with another hotel and they was there to help us out in anyway possible. The only thing that they could change is the parking situation. But I do know they are building a parking deck. Place is beautiful and wonderful right on the beach.
18 September 2021 9:55
We had an oceanfront jacuzzi suite an I loved it but there were some cons like the room could not get cold it felt okay but I love a cold room. Also there is a weird sewage smell only at night! We called the front desk to inform them of the smell an they jus said we would have to wait for the cleaners the next morning but it was beyond them. Also the parking is terrible an not very accommodating at all long walk bout 6-8 mins depending. But overall the hotel is nice but could use a little adjusting. But I will say the price I spent was not worth the money

Came to Myrtle Beach on vacation. Hotel was ok. Room was very clean upon arrival. Checked in late 1st Day. Friendly staff the whole stay. Due to Covid, no housekeeping at all. Hotel staff do not inform you. Supplies, such as towels, sheets, as needed, must ask. They will bring to room. I was charged Resort fees, $15.44 per day + $1.50 tax. Not sure why?
I had a wonderful time at Myrtle. No smoking in hotel at all. It smelled of both cigarettes and marijuana through out the hotel almost every night. S%it stinks.
I will never stay here again.
11 September 2021 14:27
Our stay was amazing. The resort was clean. The staff went above and beyond. The amenities were excellent. We had an oceanfront suite. The view was beautiful. If I could make any suggestion to future patrons I would say buy the arm bracelet for the amusement park. It will save you AND the staff time and aggravation counting individual tickets. We had a great time. Our family took part in the game night and the painting activity. We had a ball, everything was within walking distance. Will go again.

This was our 3rd year staying here and unfortunately our last. We booked our room 10 months in advance. When we arrived we were told we were being moved to a different room which was not Oceanfront because they "overbooked" then the next person told me it was because they had a storm and our room got damaged. Waited about 45 minutes to speak to a manager to give us some of our money back since we were being put in a side view room instead of oceanfront. They made it seem like we were getting a nicer room. Sure the room was in the tower it was nice but on our first night we woke up in the morning to BED BUGS. Called the front desk and they said someone would be up to "check it out". It was starting to make sense that we so happened to get a room in the tower when they were apparently over booked because we got a room that was out of order. (probably for bed bugs). We waited for 2 hours for someone for someone to come. Nobody came. We went downstairs and they told us a Supervisor would meet us in the room. She finally came DID NOT come into our room to "check it out" and gave us a key to a room on the second floor. We showed her the bed bugs we found and she just said okay I will show them and that was it. No apologies nothing. At that point my kids were hungry we wanted to start our day and just put it all behind us. We were there for a week and just did our own thing outside of the hotel. The hotel staff members are all extremely nice but the managers and supervisors seriously need some help. We would have been back but the way the bed bug situation was handled was not professional.

I am an owner at another resort and referred my sister. I am shocked at her experience. It is embarrassing. The hotel room was very small and not clean. There was no housekeeping cleaning rooms, We complained, they said they are not cleaning the room during the stay, are you kidding me, during COVID! Trying to get someone at front desk was difficult. Then the parking is awful and the staff Aleisha at the front was so rude during checkout and failed to communicate late checkout and we had to wait on security. There was very little hospitality and my sister felt she was treated badly because she didn’t buy a timeshare. We will never recommend anyone here again. Stay at your own risk!

It was below average. I expect west gate to be above average and this one is suffering greatly. The food service here is terrible. We went to drafts for dinner (at the property) and the food was just gross. They served my granddaughter a shriveled and dried out hotdog. What? It looked like it had been returned many ti
We already. The kids Mac and cheese is the most disgusting I have tasted. Macaroni with nacho cheese sauce on it. Omg! The cafe/bistro is a glorified little market/ gift shop. Also, they had no coffee in the cafe at all! Like no beans to brew. That is just poor management right there! I feel this property focuses only on the sales and forgets you once you are a guest. I will not come back to this location again. Terrible! Oh and this morning with the do not disturb sign on my door the house keeper knocked for service… WHY? The owner needs to be notified of how poorly this location treats its guests!
04 September 2021 2:48
OWNERS and potential owners should beware!
We purchased in building 2000 August 2013 and booked a stay using our 2020 at Myrtle Beach. Upon check-in we were assigned to the 1000 building. We complained and asked for management that did very poor to no communication. Thank you Dorian, Manager for us hounding you not to get anywhere and to Carlos, General Manager who never followed up to speak with us, despite the request. How unprofessional!
This was our anniversary trip and the placement was both undesirable, unmemorable and was not what we invested in Westgate. If we wanted to stay in the 1000 building we could have just booked a regular booking. Note: we would never book to rent in this building - old air conditioner, no ceiling fan, etc. We traveled a long way to learn of the placement for our weeklong anniversary vacation. How sad it was to walk past the 2000 building knowing we own there but was mistreated with room assignment. Westgate and its affiliates only care about getting a sale and yearly fees. Nothing about making things right especially for an Owner! We do not recommend purchasing property at Westgate. You will be sorry.

I called 2 weeks before my stay and was told that my reservation was for oceanfront.
When I check in, I inquired about the room and was told it is a city view. I called the reservations department and was told that I need the person's name who told me that it was oceanfront. I didn't get their name. We were placed on the 3rd floor. The corridor smelled like urine and the room was filthy. I saw several housekeeping carts during my stay and not the first one has a broom or mop on it. Never saw a vacuum either. The floors in our room were filthy as well as the sink top. Don't get me started on the parking! Having to park 3 blocks away is not my idea of a resort! This is nothing more than a 2 star hotel at best. Nothing I saw here says resort to me.
18 August 2021 15:24
The only convenient thing about here is the location. Family Kingdom is on one side & it's located on the beach. The parking is terrible. The lot onsite holds about 30 cars, which is constantly full. There is a separate lot across the street for the hotel but it's also always full, as it is open to the public, as well. There is a parking garage in the process of being built, but this has been ongoing for 2 years now. Our reservation was made in January for July. Once arriving, our reservation could not be found. Nobody, not even the manager who was onsite, was willing to help with this. After 2 hours of making phone calls, our reservation was finally found. Our room was supposed to be in the villa, thatlooked over the ocean and Famuly Kingdom. Instead, it was a small room that looked over the alley. I would not recommend, as there are too many other choices on the strip.
17 August 2021 17:16
Upon arrival we had to wait 6 hours for a room. Though we initially booked early check in we were told by the front desk that it was not allowed as there were no room available. After driving for 12 hours to get here and waiting for 6 hours for a room with two crying toddlers we asked for a manager. The manger never showed up but we immediately got a room at that point. We went upstairs and found that the room keys were not working. We went back downstairs with all our stuff. After the keys did not work for a second time we decided to call. We were told that we had to come back downstairs. We asked for a manager once again and our key miraculously starting working without having to go downstairs. Manager never showed up. By the way all room in our floor available during our time there. Though mask are required no one is wearing them. Though is a smoke free place you smell everything including marijuana in the resort. There was no house keeping. It was a hassle asking for towels or sheets, every time you call asking for towels the reply was you had towels when you checked in. The beach does not allow tents. The gym is dirty and when I asked for towels and wipes to clean the equipment the WestGate employee inside the gym response was that’s not my job I m maintenance go ask the front desk. I was shocked at this placed customer services. The balcony view is beautiful but if you have small children please keep your door locked as it’s easy for small children to climb over the balcony. After 3 days of this nonsense we decided to cut our 7 day stay short and go home. Please don’t come here. Two years without going on a vacation due to COVID, you finally decide to get your family out and this is the experience. Not worth it, stay home.
15 August 2021 13:06
Terrible initial customer service. We were extending our stay and called from the beach and reserved a room. We weren’t told you had to walk forever down hallways to rooms or that you had to park 200 yards from the building. Asked to see the manager. They took my phone number but never got a call. Obviously all they cared about was prospective time share customers, and ones they already sucked in.

Room was small and cramped but nice. One air conditioner that could barely keep up with the room. If you closed off the inside of the room there isn’t any air conditioning for whoever is in the fold out couch bed.

The bad kicker is that the toilet paper is way behind you on the wall. About have to fall off the toilet to reach it. Who designs a bathroom like that?

The pool amenities were great. Restaurant was great. Myrtle Beach rules are Myrtle Beach rules.
14 August 2021 21:35
It was definitely not a horrible hotel l, but the walls were PAPER thin we could hear everything in the room next to us. The Draft bar and grill restaurant that’s connected to the hotel was also subpar and the workers weren’t very friendly. The food was also not great. The room was really nice though and it was very clean, but requesting things like new towels, or even just maintenance was a struggle. The three pools were really nice. All

in all it was a nice hotel.
02 August 2021 4:35
I wouldn't recommend this hotel if it were FREE. The check in was excruciating. The parking is NON-EXISTENT. We had to push two carts full of luggage from the main entrance, through the entire hotel into the new building on the other side. It was the most ridiculous thing I have ever done in my life. And during the process, someone from the "concierge" relentlessly was trying to sell me something. Based on the parking situation and 1 block long pull of my luggage to the room -this hotel should PAY ME to stay here. STAY FAR, FAR AWAY.
31 July 2021 3:57
I’ve stayed at several Westgate locations and this is by far the worst. The rooms are not properly cleaned. Sand in my bed and floor house keeping will not clean your room. Parking is a complete mess.
My balcony view was of the parking garage. Shame on you Westgate to think that was acceptable. The pools were not clean and I was told by the front desk staff they are only cleaned once a day. I saw several cockroaches on the premises and one of my family members had to switch rooms because of the roach issue. I will never return to this location!
