Sandy Beach Resort

We stayed Labor Day weekend with my 4 year old in the magnolia tower ocean front. Room was up to date, cleaning service and fresh towels daily. They maintained the pools nicely during the tropical storm that came for 1 day. They had an Italian ice cart for 2 days that was in the pool area thought that was a good idea. Overall we enjoyed our stay and we will be back in the future.

Cops outside daily looking for sketchy people hanging around parking lot. Many people using drugs in this area. Didn't feel safe really anytime staying here. Smelled pot every day walking on beach, on sidewalks out front and last night the room was filled with pot smoke smell. Front desk people were nice and room was spacious, but I won't be back to stay in this location. Go up the road a few miles, much nicer areas.

I've been staying here for over 30 years! It's such a great location to the beach! Beautiful View at the beach! When you step off the steps, you have sand, not grass! Love it! You have the newer side and the older side to the hotel! The new side is higher than the older side! The older side is cheaper. It's good rooms, but it needs some updates! This time, l was on the older side. That is way, I give it a 4 stars, but if I was on the newer side, I would give them 5 stars! If it wasn't a good hotel, I would have been coming here all this year!

Rooms and bathroom could have been cleaned better.it was mold in the clear shower nob.wasn't bad for the price though

Second time having been to Myrtle Beach but a different resort, excellent location, good view, some details that can be issued but the attention was lousy!
Most of the staff have a horrible attitude among them to mention (the two security men) that while we were staying they were on the afternoon / night shift
When we arrived at the resort, the first thing they did was welcome us with their attitude, telling us that if we went out to the beach we would have to return through another door (which I understand) when we returned with our feet covered in sand because there was nowhere to clean ourselves, they sent us to (another resort that was across the street), only when we got to the other one we realized that it was also closed, the children who were playing in the pool were told to stop playing because they were wetting the people who were (around the pool).
And to close with a flourish the last day of my stay, the same security people (the two men with the worst attitude in the world) when I was literally sitting looking around and enjoying myself, one of those men literally approaches me yelling instantly (you know that I can arrest you right now or make you pay $500.00 for having a glass bottle on this table).
I personally did not know that it was prohibited and I had no problem with discarding it here, the problem was his exaggerated attitude while I was listening to it.
He embarrassed me, telling me to use common sense, he ruined the rest of the day, I just told him that it was okay that he would take the bottle to the trash and he continued using his arrogant language, I got up to throw that bottle away and went to my room when he returned I realized that after leaving I return to the table only to continue doing the same with my husband when there was nothing on the table, the last thing I want is to be at war with the world, I like to abide by the rules and be kind but the excessive way in which that man addressed me is reprehensible, we were planning to stay one more night but after that I just felt uncomfortable and wanted to return home.
When you go on vacation you want to be relaxed and rest, what you least expect is that the security guards make you feel like you are in a recruiting camp.

Our stay at the Sandy Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach was fine. We went for our honeymoon and stayed in the King Jacuzzi Suite - Magnolia room. This room has a bed and TV right when you walk in, then the outdated kitchen in the middle, and a generic bathroom with a medium sized Jacuzzi tub. The back of the room had a pull out bed with a small dining table, couch, and additional TV. There are doors separating each room. The view in the back was absolutely beautiful showing the beach and there was a balcony you could stand on. We used the Jacuzzi tub once but it seemed unsafe because the suction was very strong. The refrigerator was very old and did not keep things cold even on it's highest cold setting. The private beach was a nice amenity and there are a lot of indoor and outdoor pool options too. The hotel could easily look better if they updated the paint, floors, and elevators. The staff were fine and were quick to respond when we needed something. The worst part of our trip was that on our last night staying at Sandy Beach, we smelled a strong amount of weed in our room. There are multiple "No Smoking" signs posted around the hotel. We did not report this to staff as it was very late at night and we were going to leave the next morning. Thankfully, the weed incident happened on our last night otherwise it would have ruined our trip a lot sooner.

Rooms are very old and run down. You do not get what is pictured on their website. Broken doors, broken furniture, torn bedding, torn curtains, stained furniture, stained carpets, and outdated furnishings. Way overpriced for what you actually get. So disappointing!

It was ok but it seems they care less about people more about money. Coffee in lobby it was a chore for someone to get creamer. The guy that came was nice, but front desk was rude and only cared about who she was talking to. Pools were nasty never saw no one clean them. Had to pay extra for Parking for a 6 people room. Also nothing extra for kids to do. It was like ok let's just take money and do nothing. Probably will never go bk. Also if you want towels you better be down at table in lobby to get them before everyone else does or you don't get them.

Clean place to stay, service is very good. A lot of pools for adults and kids. The best vacation ever! We got a suite with 3 king Bethrooms, living room, full kitchen, 2 bath.

Dirty rooms, elevator and flooring. Loud air vents. You can hear your neighbors. Beware. Pool is old. Parking is across the street behind a store.odd.

Always love it here! This is our 5th time. The furnishings are becoming dated but having the washer and dryer are the most welcome. Having the balcony looking to the ocean is the most wonderful. The housekeeping staff are great. They appear most everyday to replenish the towels (bathroom and kitchen), empty the trash and clean and change the bed each week! They also provide the dishwasher detergent along with lotions, hand soap Kleenex and tp.
The beach is so close and is always kept clean. Parking is across the street. Checking in and out is fast and easy always with friendly staff. It gets very congested with so many cking in and out but a guard is right there to keep order.
Highly recommend staying here. We'll be back!
