21 years in the Navy, and I have never felt so disrespected, and I have never seen anything like this in my life. Waited three hours for a haircut, and the two African American barbers skipped everyone in line and service African American customers first. Head of line privilege based on the color of your skin. By my count, five people were served out of turn. A regular barber shop wouldn't do something like that because customers wouldn't come back. I'm so disappointed with NEXCOM to allow something like this to happen. In the military, we move around a lot, and I depend on the NEX for many basic needs when I am in a new area. This experience hurts me as an American and hurts even more as a military retiree. I would never come back to this place, sad because this was only my second visit here, and the first visit was great even though the wait was almost just as long.
Mel, did a great job of cleaning up my beard and a haircut. Batbers are always courteous & friendly and they take pride in their environment. I'll be going back.
I’m usually stressed out when choosing a barber due to not knowing if he’s going to mess up my hair/cut. Not every barber is diversified in different textures of hair, ethnicity and gender. Well all of that changed for me after sitting in the chair with Antwonn at NEX Barber Shop! Not only have I watched his work (very diverse) with many of his clients but he’s always professional and give you a great “Customer Service Experience. As long as I’m in South Carolina, I’ll be sitting in Antwonn’s barber chair!
It’s amazing getting a hair cut here. Antwonn Gathers Is the best barber in there and know how to cut hair. I would give this place 10 stars if I could!
Wonderful shop, great atmosphere, whatever shop Antwonn Gathers is at that's where I'm getting my haircut at lol. He's one of the best around the Charleston area (Been cutting my hair for over 10 years) Appreciate you my guy
Great customer service! The Barbers are very professional. Antwonn Gathers is the best barber in the shop and also delivers excellent customer service! Would recommend a visit if anyone looking for a barbershop.
Please re-open the location next to the main exchange. As it stands now, you are forcing everyone to wait in line behind students. I'm sure you have lost business from active duty and the retired community due to this move. Look back at the numbers and do the math. If you have, then please reconsider opening the other location back up.
$12.50 for a basic military haircut, but they're ALWAYS busy (like 30 minute minimum wait) and they do only ok haircuts, especially for how simple it is.
If I could, I would give this place 0 stars for misinformation. I was here SUNDAY Jan 1 to try to get a hair cut at 1030. They said they were open yet no one has shown. I waited till 1100 then left. Apparently this isn't the first time where the Barber shop had incorrect hours and this needs to be changed. Also, there needs to be more barbers in there when it's actually active. Too many times I've seen seen one barber, multiple empty chairs, and rows of people waiting. This is beyond irresponsible management is is terribly unfair for males especially who either have to waste thier entire day on a 30 minute haircut or have to spend a bunch of money to get a haircut elsewhere.
This barber shop is a joke at best, 5 chairs one barber 11 people. I have been waiting for nearly 3 hours there was only 8 people ahead of me. This will be the last time I come here. At this point it is going to be cheaper, easier and take less time to learn how to cut my own hair. If the owner sees this it is 27Nov22 at 15.50 they are not taking people past 16.30 for no explanation. There has been a Sailor in one of there chairs being told to wait for over an hour because his barber walked off and has yet to return and to wait for his barber while the other barber has cut 3 more poeples hair.
