Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark

Was not there. Tried to speak to a representative about ada rooms and was told if I didn't reserve and pay right away I probably won't get an ada room that is wheelchair accessible and wouldn't even be able to get a shower chair that is offered in needed in ada rooms. Representative was not very helpful but more demanding that I book immediately and pay immediately.

We just walked into our room smells moldy. Room is not clean restroom in room has paint peeling off. Handle on fridge gone, restaurant nachos awful and almost 20.00 will never stay here again.

We are still here. We are here for 1 month. Everyone has been super friendly. The staff are awesome. Amenities are wonderful. The one bedroom suite is great. Very clean. A lot to do in resort. The people who are complaining are probably booking on 3rd party site or don't read the fees. We were told all of the fees upfront upon booking with them directly. No surprised.

UPDATE: Only 8 more nights left here.
I am going to miss this place and all the staff have been wonderful.
If they had 2 bedroom suites for winter rental, I would stay to March.

Hated this place so much. Environment is Not kid friendly at all. Rooms are across the street from actual place to check in and had no notice of it. Receptionist at the front desk super cold attitude, not friendly or welcoming. No complimentary breakfast. Location is super loud due to guests partying in the parking lots all night. I had to call the front desk around 11/12 pm to ask them to send security due to noise from guests partying. Definitely one of the worst experiences of hotels I ever had. No life guard at the pool. Parking is horrendous! And way too expensive for all these inconveniences. Elevators did not work properly as they were skipping numbers up and down. Once in the room, I had to wipe sticky buggers off the wall before I could even unpack! Disgusting. My wife actually wanted to leave within the 1st hour. It was a horrible stay. If I could give a star to represent negative zero, that would be the rating!

It was horrible, I booked a standard oceanfront room, requested the highest floor for that room type prior to check-in day. When we checked in they were very rude, I asked about my request and was told the highest room for that type of room was the seventh floor. When we went to the room the air-conditioning did not work and the shower would not drain. My daughter pulled a massive amount hair out of the drain. I called the front desk and was shown a room (exact room type as my original) on the 11th floor. I was lied to. It was in worse condition than our original room. My family has been visiting the hotel for 10 years this was our last visit.

The hotel itself is a bit outdated.

But you dont come to this place for the room experience.

The indoor water park is legit for the price your pay, our daughter loved it, we went in December.

If you need a weekend getaway i recommend, its close to lots of stuff & the water park isnt bad for what you pay.

Went there, this past weekend. Room sucked.employees where slightly nice. But let me start with the rooms. None of the rooms have carpet. I mean none. And wet feet and slick floors are extremely dangerous. Had some close calls with slipping. So I made my boys wear shoes. While in the room. Hard to do. But the water park was great. But, I won't go back here. Not worth it
Update: Thought I give it try again. Came and stayed New Years Dec 26th-Jan 3rd. Rooms renovated and nice done at that. Everything clean. Appreciate that. And Darlene the bar tender was great. Give her a raise. She was the best. Wait on my family and treated us so nicely. She is dif or should be a valued employee. Thank you again Darlene. Making our time at the Crown Reef great. Oh and the food. Was really good in the bar. Will dif come back. Thanks Crown Reef. For the great experience.

My sister in law made a reservation for us unfortunately something came up and we was not able to arrive the day of the reservation and she got the VIP just in case for any incidents was to happened so she can cancel they turned around and charged her a 208 fee to cancel after they wanted to charge a fee for parking when we was going to arrive the next day and some other charges that was not even mentioned on the site be careful booking with this hotel;!

1st vacation after a 30 year relationship. It was the best 2weeks. Sad can't afford to go again.

Eh it was fine.rooms are pretty good and the pools were fun but the service was really bad.they need to retrain their employees.

Very different of the pictures, rooms need updated, everything is to old, bathroom is so small the sink have repair and dirty smells bad, not good and expensive, not recommend, the lobby is beautiful, but the hotel is garbage

Very nice, kid friendly resort. It is older and the rooms are a little dated but they were clean. Beautiful balcony views and the Loco Geico restaurant on site was amazing! We will be back!

I have been here twice. Once when I was in Kindergarten and this year in 6th grade. I love it here, especially the water slides. Its a little cold though when your birthday is in November.

This hotel is beyond dated. It is horrible. This is not worth the timeshare presentation. The room was absolutely hideous and dirty.

Took care of us by accommodating us with our truck and enclosed trailer. This is supposed to be a smoke free property, we saw the people in the room below us smoking, not just cigarettes, pot too. Reported this to the management 2 nights in a row. We couldn't even sit and enjoy the balcony for the stink!

We had the best time! Everyone was nice and courteous from the time we checked in to the time we checked out. Our room was clean, employees were continually cleaning. Can't wait to start planning our next trip.

Ancient place.everything's too old and rusty, including the AC. A definite NO for those concerned about cleanliness and hygiene. Found a cockroach too. Only positive is the great view.

Only 02 stars I am giving because of their location and pools. Rooms are outdated and desperately needs renovation including bathrooms. Charges you fees if you pay on credits cards and you will hardly get any room service…. Good luck staying there.

Terrible I’ll pay for my room before I got here they made me pay twice and did not care Never stay here again the worst this place I ever been their prices change when you get here Thank God I have more money on a credit card Because they do not take cash and they will not refund your money back when you get here clean hotel though but very rude how they make you pay twice

Staying here felt like torture. Sketchy place without any security, random weird people walking around everywhere. First impressions, check in and check out was on a completely different building across the street through a dark sketchy path to without any security. Don't be fooled by the pictures, the indoors jacuzzi are not hot. So forget about this place off season. They have a few hot tubs outside which is fine if you like walking around wet in 30 degrees weather because the don't have changing rooms ANYWHERE. The beds are rock hard like The Flintstones bed so, didn't get a good night sleep. The room was dirty specially the bathroom. I wasn't enjoying myself so, I cut my trip short and left the place.

A nice beach resort. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. The restaurant leaves something to be desired, but it is right there. Great beach access. Just walk out and you're on the beach.

The only negative thing i can find to say about this place.is you have to go across the street to check in, Other than that everything way great. The staff was very friendly, the room was very clean and well stocked.

Needs major updates. Also seems every year they add another fee. (First Parking, Now "insurance" on the room.) Been coming for 8 years. Going to have to try somewhere new.

The Worst Hotel I’ve ever stayed at in Myrtle Beach, your charged if you use a credit card, and you’re charged for parking, rooms are outdated, very bad place I will Never stay there again. 60 years going to Myrtle Beach this place is the Worst!

We went as a group for a tournament. All staff is friendly. After reading reviews I was nervous but the hotel is okay… I would not call it a Resort. If you are accustomed to 4/5 star hotels this place is not for you. It is clean but does need some maintenance. The ‘indoor jacuzzi’ was Luke warm and cloudy. A few roaches around the pool area but none in hotel room. Beautiful ocean view great vacation for a family on a budget. I would Recommend staying on lower floors to AVOID the small slow elevators that are busy! We stayed in Tower 1 floor 2. Higher floors are really high and worrisome with little kids. There is really NO to go breakfast so Pack your own food for the full kitchen you have. The Bar pizza was AMAZING! Just a little suggestion, if you need privacy for teens changing etc, maybe a suspension rod and curtain for bathroom sink door would be good… as it’s hard to change in the small toilet/tub closet. We had no issues with plumbing etc…. Beds were okay comfort wise. Plenty of room. I don’t think we would stay here again BUT I would recommend it for a budget family vacation ON the beach!

Needs improvement but on beach and clean. Rooms are a bit in disrepair and do have dehumidifier in rooms.

Not a bad Hotel, not the greatest. Average prices and average condition of rooms. We got a 2 bedroom suite that had a full refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, sink, and cabinets, in the kitchen area. The full kitchen had cabinets which had pots, pans, baking dishes, silverware, coffee cups, glasses, plates, and spoon/spatulas. When you walk in there is 2 queen size beds as well as a dresser, desk, 40-50" flatscreen TV, nightstand, and lamps. There are many outlets as well as USB ports for many places to charge devices. Connected to the kitchen was a room sink with mirror and lights that had a door that opened to a bathroom with a large jacuzzi tub/shower as well as a toilet. The last room had a full size flipdown wall bed and a pull out sleeper sofa, as well as a 4 chair table, large cushion chair and 46" flatscreen TV and lamp. Then there was a sliding glass door which had a balcony with 2 chairs and a great view of the ocean and one of the pools. This room had 2 ac units and a dehumidifier. We were tower 3 on the 3rd floor. In tower 2 there is a fitness center, gift shop which was closed and a bar called the Loco Gecko. Here you could buy over priced food such as a small order of wings for 18.99 or badly made mixed drinks (also overpriced) such as their buckets which were 22.99 and contained on average 2-3 shots of alcohol and some mixers or juices which were hardly ever good tasting. Our party tried 5 different buckets over our stay and 2 of them tasted ok but contained hardly any alcohol. There a are many pools and hot tubs as well as 2 water slides and a lazy river. There is 1 towel station in the slide area which rarely had pool towels, I reccomend bringing your own or bringing a room towel just in case. Then there were several gates leading to the beach shown in the pictures. They had banana boats and parasailing opportunities right on the beach as well as catamarans available to rent. There are many bugs as one would expect as well as palmetto bugs which look almost identical to roaches so dont be surprised. The housekeeping staff only provides towels and trash service. They will give coffee and sugar/creamer/stir packets as well as trash bags, toilet paper, dish soap (if they have), cups and tissues. We stayed 7 days and I would reccomend to someone with children that want an average price and condition hotel on the beach.

This hotel was way outdated the pictures on website aren't really accurate and the room was humid the floors were wet from the moisture and slippery. The balcony showed age from chipped paint on the rail and dirty lawn furniture. The handle on the slide door broke off and was never fixed, also the outside was awful looked very dirty for the most part this hotel is something that I will never come back to!

Save your money and find a better hotel. The jacuzzis are freezing, the amenities are horrible and you have to pay for breakfast, the toilets are broken and they have ROACHES in the room. This hotel doesn't even deserve 1 star. Management is horrible as well.

Extremely fun for everyone! Room was clean and everyone slept comfortably! The kids went from the ocean to the pool literally ALL DAY! My niece fell asleep in the lazy river for a sec lol

Had many.problems tv didnt work, smoke alarm kept going off and person who came to work on them had a bad attitude, towels were very rough in texture

They are very friendly nice people. They helped me out when we were stranded in MB. Rooms were nice & property well cared for.
Great place if you have kids, plenty for them to do on site. Would stay here again & probably will.

Great time. Beach view. Awesome pools easy access to beach. Restaurants within walking distance of hotel. Awesome slides to top things off.

The water parks are worth it for the kids. But bring Bleach. You will need it to clean the rooms. The resort is old and hasn't been kept up very well. Our smoke detectors went off twice. Batteries were changed the first time. Not sure why they beeped the second. This was 10: 30 11: 00 at night. All for a late checkout, negative. It's an extra 65 dollars. Onto of the 40 to park at the resort. The pools aren't really kept up with. The staff got into a fight while we were there cursing in front of everyone. Calling each other lazy it was ridiculous. Ordered French fries for my son waited 50 minutes. It's over priced terribly.which wouldn't be so bad if the place was nice. Really disappointed with our stay.

Do to covid housekeeping came every morning asked if anything was needed. Everything was great. If we needed anything we just called the front desk and they were there knocking at the door in minutes.

It's alright, out dated the shower was terrible but parking is free and close to the beach

I would stay at this place again. I would have gave more stars but my kids for the first night waited for a comforter for the pull out bed.abs was cold all night because it never came.we had no frying pans and had to call 3 times for toilet paper. The resort could use some upgrades it's definitely not a 4/5 star resort.but the Waterpark is fun for all ages.the food at the restaurant was ok and the drinks were also good. People came in on Friday and weed smoke took over the resort.kids jumping from the bridges and nothing was ever done about it.over all I would stay again

Stayed September 11-17,2021 for wedding anniversary. Paid well over $1200 plus and was told I had rennovated king oceanfront suite. If that was rennovated I would hate to see what some of the rest looked like. There was paint chipping, grout peeling in bathroom. Found hair in bathroom and the entire room was dusty! Bed was really low and mattress was old and pillows worn. Water drained slow in shower like almost to your ankles slow and towels were rough. For the price I expected better accommodations. 2 stars for accommodations and 4 stars for customer service and housekeeping stopped by every day to give trash bags and towels as needed.

Love staying at the Crown Reef. Have stayed multiple times. Preferred oceanfront efficiency was clean, updated and roomy. The resort has so much to offer, especially for kids. Adults love the pools, lazy river and hot tubs too!
