Bohemia Salon on Shem Creek

After doing my hair several times. I was given a quote for a Balayage and Keratine treatment. Then a few days before my appointment the salon manager Karen called me and said that the price I was given had to be changed and that now the cost for my appointment would be $800.00 ($200 more than what was originally said to me at the salon). I find the inconsistency and the back and forth unprofessional, specially because i was an established client. So disappointed

I am SO pleased with my haircut/hair gloss! I went to Amanda with damaged bleached hair to my shoulders & I wanted it chopped to my chin w my bangs blended into my hair better & she slayed! She also added a hair gloss to my hair & it looks AMAZING!

Love this place! Not only is the building quaint, Wayne always does a fabulous job in taking care of my hair. I go in a mere mortal and come out feeling beautiful with gorgeous hair!

Had a wonderful experience at Bohemia! Recently, I was in town for a wedding and scheduled an appt w /Isabelle for a simple updo! She did a fantastic job and was a delight to be around! If I were local I'd definitely go back!

I went to Bohemia Salon for the first time and was seated with Amanda. I have been blonde my whole life, and I understand how difficult it can be to meet the exact needs and wants of a blonde client who is getting highlights. But Amanda did just that. This blonde is exactly what I wanted, and she was so personable and friendly during the process. 10 out of 10, highly recommend, can’t wait to go back!

I had to update my review. After 2 weeks, I couldn’t figure out how to style the cut properly, and it seemed like it might be uneven.

Recently went to a different stylist for help, and she confirmed that the cut was uneven with strange layering. It was also very heavy in the back (had that mushroom hair shape), and did not have a slight angle down toward the front, like a lob should be. I had originally wanted a textured lob, and unfortunately, that’s not what I received. She had curled my hair before I left, and I think this may be done to cover a bad hair cut.

I just love everyone at this salon! The atmosphere here is amazing. I get my hair done by the one and only Lauren Duke! I would give this girl 100 stars if I could! She has really transformed my hair and is just the most amazing woman I know! She really goes above and beyond!

Isabelle is the absolute best! She always delivers, takes her time, is so kind, and does fantastic work! Will forever be a client of hers! Amazing location and staff. Best place to go, would recommend to everyone!

Excellent location and staff. My hair cut by Isabelle is always on point. She is a amazing stylist. Recently had a facial done by Kamryn which was also great. Highly recommend!

My color by Isabelle was shockingly terrible. I'm still sick that I paid over $200 for color that would have looked better if I'd done it myself. There are some great stylists here and very nice people, but Isabelle needs more training. Her skill level does not match the prices of the salon.

Isabelle is the absolute BEST! She has done things to my hair that I never thought was possible! She is really talented and i have always been extremely happy with how she has done my hair! I will be coming back!

In early March of 2022 they did not color my hair in time that was signed in contract nor was it even close when this was brought to a higher stylist attention she viewed the contract I signed and agreed it would take a much longer process to get my hair to what I wanted, the stylist who fixed my hair had agreed to the contract as well and shrugged off what the higher stylist had mentioned to her into how long she should have quoted my money and time for, and seemed to not care what my hair looked like when I left, to this day they have not contacted or tried to see if my hair would be alright or if I was able to get it fixed correctly else where DONT Waste your time and money here it’s not worth it

My first and second appointments were both wrong they were contacted right away after first one at that time a second appointment was made to fix the first one and yea was not charged for the second one cause it was supose to fix the first one which both resulted in a wrong hair color not even close to what it was supose to be a contract was signed to Do it right in two time sessions nothing was explained on what would be done to fix it should it not be done right yes it’s been 12 weeks since this happened just wanted to let everyone know my experience there cause no one should ever be asked why did you come here and then be told you snd salon are not a good fit they were rude and not at all caring on how my hair turned out if they were serious about their customer service they would have reached out way before now or before leaving a response to this review

I have visited most of the high end salons in Charleston and I can honestly say Jessica is the best among them. She listens, she asks lots of questions to try to understand the best solution to achieve the result you are looking for. She gave me the most beautiful color I believe I’ve ever received and that includes all the salons worldwide that I have visited.
Jessica gives you a precision cut and I have long hair. That is a cut that you don’t have to fight in anyway when you try to style it at home. (I know this to be a fact because my visit was a few days ago and I have done my own hair). Doing my own hair this week was a joy. I have height and lots of movement to my hair and it falls into place.
She was professional, had great energy and fabulous skill. Thank you Jessica so much!

I'd give zero stars if possible. Jessica was awful and incredibly rude. Do not trust these 5 star reviews. This business is deceptive and there are many places in the area that are much better.

Amazing experience with Lauren. She did exactly what I wanted. The most enjoyable and easy hair appointment of my life. She chose the perfect color for my hair. My hair cut was the best I have had in many year. I can finally enjoy and love my curly hair thanks to Lauren. I am extremely happy and I can not wait for my next appointment with her. Salon vibe is beautiful and relaxing, and everyone shared a smile with me. Beyond words!

I enjoyed my consultation with Isabelle today! She is very knowledgeable and had great ideas for my hair color I look forward to seeing her next week for my full highlight application! And, the salon is such a cool, relaxing space! Reflects the spirit of bohemia!:)

I got a facial here and it was fantastic. Nicole was professional and made me feel comfortable, relaxed, and refreshed. The ambience in the room was also very relaxing. My skin also feels soft and healthy, even after a few days. This was my first facial, and I definitely plan to return.

As a first time client I was very happy with the whole experience. Wayne is very professional, took time to find out what I wanted, and gave me a beautiful cut and color.

Outstanding experience that began with trust building and meeting me exactly where I was at. Wayne described himself as “building a relationship with my hair” and “letting my hair tell him what to do” which is exactly an orientation I’ve longed for. I was able to convey what I wanted on the level of what I wanted to evoke—playful, warm energy—and let that drive the conversation around specifics re length, shape, etc. Will be back.:)

This was my first time at Bohemia. Boy was I lucky to land an appointment with Wayne. I’ve been so nervous to cut my hair in Mt Pleasant since I also live on Long Island in NY and love my hairdresser there. Well I may now be a convert. Wayne gave me a great cut; I know it’s great because I had to blow it out myself (due to current restrictions) and it blew out perfectly!

Wayne really took his time with my cut and did a fantastic job. So glad he was recommended The salon atmosphere is very pleasant and the receptionist is also great to work with. Highly recommend Bohemia.

Highly recommend Mary for your spray tan needs. Very personable and thorough. She answered all of my questions, gave great recommendations, and made my fake tan look natural and smooth!

Very disappointed and upset with my experience. I was so excited to try this salon and then I literally left with my hair dripping wet and no way to tell how it looked. They were VERY unclear in the prearrival messages sent out. There is no blow drying or styling with ANY service. I can’t believe I just paid full price for them to only do half the work.

Mary is absolutely amazing! Not only does she give me such a natural looking spray tan, but she is as sweet as can be! I truly appreciate her being so thorough and consistent! I will always recommend her and continue to come back to her every time I need a jump start on my tan!

I LOVED Jessica. She’s very informative and asks questions about your daily hair routine to try to perfect your style to your needs/wants. I’m usually really nervous when going to someone new for my hair, but from the time I got there she eased my nerves with just being herself! She really knows her stuff when it comes to hair. Wayne went out of his way today to fix a janky cut from our last appointment, and he kindly did not charge me for the cut (which I greatly appreciated, and thought was an appropriate response as I feel like that was just the right thing to do). The unfortunate no blow-dry rule can produce some unintended results since they can’t really see how the cut looks on dry hair, so I was more than happy to give him a chance to fix the mistakes, and he nailed it!

Every other experience at the salon with Wayne has been excellent. He’s very knowledgeable about color (like using the right mix of colors/shades that will look good with your skin tone, etc). He’s also given me the first ever cut in my life that looks good without having to blow dry and style my hair, which is pretty much a miracle! Oh, and he gives the most amazing head massage while you’re getting shampooed.

The salon itself has a very cool, boho vibe (hence the name Bohemia). It can be pretty pricey compared to other salons I’ve been to, but as the saying goes you get what you pay for! I choose to book with a “master stylist” and pay a little more in order to have someone who really knows what they’re doing, because I never know how to communicate exactly what it is that I want - but there are other knowledgeable stylists available that are slightly less expensive. Highly recommend this salon, and especially Wayne!

Faun did an updo for me for my wedding. We were doing a small ceremony on Folly Beach and I didn’t want to end up paying “bridal prices” at other places since it was just me getting an updo. Going here was cheaper than other places but great quality. The salon had a great vibe and a gorgeous interior. All the staff were friendly and excited to see the existing color in my hair as well as the end result of the updo. Faun was fun to talk to both during our practice run and the final day. She took suggestions and questions fantastically and practiced in between the trial and the final style. The end result looked beautiful. If I weren’t moving soon I would start coming here for all of my hair needs.

Katy is a very talented, knowledgeable, and creative nail tech. She helped me bring my idea to life and provided a great service from start to finish. The salon space is beautiful and unique, and all of the employees help to foster a welcoming environment. I booked another appointment with Katy when I checked out, and I cannot wait to visit Bohemia again.

I’m new to the area and have had failed hair stylists in the past around the area and had dead bleached hair but I came in to see Faun and she was amazing. She knew exactly what I wanted and delivered with all expectations exceeded. She cut 6 inches but still maintained the lengthy look I wanted and gave me my healthy hair back, I get so many compliments! I’ll always go back to her, amazing and chill salon with amazing stylists. Love love love!
