From out of town. Dropped our kid off at JFK. Starving. Googled italian restaurants near the airport and this came up. It was fantastic. Could not have been better: food, atmosphere other Patons telling us about the restaurant from when they were kids 40+ years ago. Best red sauce / tomato gravy I ever ate. My kids Flys back on a Monday. They are closed Mondays. So disappointed, we were planning our return.

I hate to leave bad reviews, but waiting for food for over 45 min is not acceptable. And they didn’t even apologize nor ask if we need more water while waiting. I was trying to get any waiters attention for more than half hour to get water! Nothing happened. Food wasn’t what I expected. A chewy and frozen lobster for 110 dollars! The service is terrible.
And, you better have cash with you! Because they don’t accept any card payment! Nothing digital! Even though they have a visa sign on the door

Small portions for family style. Food is very good, not great. Simple and clean but the atmosphere was like a very clean diner. Wait staff was louder than the customers.

I live in albany. Upstate when i fly out of jfk. The night before i come here omg like eating with family. Not to mention how friendly the staff is from the phone to walking in worth the wait omg 10 stars if i could rate

Go, you will not be disappointed! Shrimp the size of small Lobster tails cook perfectly. Pasta and clam sauce definitely the best!

My dad and I used to frequent this restaurant when I was a child in the early 1970s. My father was dying at the VA Hospital in Brooklyn. And all he wanted was there food. I used to pick up food I never even considered that I had to pay for it. The lovely owner came to my father's service. My aunt was trying to pay for it. The owner refused payment of any kind.

The food was fabulous then and it is still amazing.

The food was good and the clams came out in a timely matter, but the spaghetti we ordered took an hour to come out. They brought out the food to the bigger family that came in after us.

Everybody raves about this place. I lived and worked near here for over 50 years and never went. Finally got here and the food was very good, but the service was horrible. The waiter couldn't care less. Fortunately, there were some other staff that took up some of his slack, but we waited forever to have our order taken and for any water refills. It wasn't that busy either. I'll probably be back, the food was that good, maybe the service thing was an anomaly.

Absolutely the best all around Italian family style restaurant in N. Y. C. Highly recommended and enjoy the red wine with your meal.

Allocate 2 hours for your meal. Food takes time to prep. Family style, large portions.

As authentic as it gets. The food is great, the service is great and the prices are reasonable. Bring cash and enjoy.

Been going here for decades, excellent stuff.my favorite is the linguini with garlic and oil, one might think garlic n oil is garlic n oil, its the same everywhere.you try the garlic n oil here and tell me that! I order it just for me, i eat that whole giant plate.the garlic melts in your mouth. Its pricey but you get what u pay for.highly recommended.

Have to go with the shrimp luciano. Wished you can make reservations. I would go there mi ore often.

I went for lunch and order the stuffed mushroom as an app and the veal don peppe. This is the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The service was professional and Harry our waiter went above and beyond. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you’re in the area this is a must eat restaurant. Old time good everything.

I loved the jockey jerseys on the wall and the theme they used. Super cute and you can tell the food is authentically Italian. The stuffed shells and broccoli were tasty and came out fresh and without delay! Grab cash before you go though, no ATM inside.

Most of the dishes were pretty tasty (veal don peppe was the highlight), however, the porterhouse came out pretty burnt. Our waiter was abysmal, the busser came over to apologize on his behalf at the end of the meal.

Excellent veal don peppe. Great homemade wine. My wife and I had a above average dining experience. Would go back.
