Great, perfect, morning breakfast. Cold brew is a must try. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

I really like this spot! Outside of the big city and always makes me feel like being up in the White Mountains or someplace similar.
Black Mountain in Cave Creek- Excellent atmosphere and top shelf staff! Originally, I was told about this place from a local while on a hunt for a good cup of coffee. The coffee, the Food, and really just the whole feel of this place.has quickly made Black Mountain one of my go-to joints in Cave Creek.

Breakfast is my favorite part of the day. Biscuits and gravy has long been my favorite comfort food WHEN ITS DONE RIGHT.only one establishment in this entire town has good biscuits and gravy with intense flavor and wonderful texture. Today the biscuits and gravy here made me cry. It was textureless, flavorless, the biscuits were HARD as if yesterday's biscuits were microwaved (and I HATE microwaves. They destroy the food. The gravy was watery. I've had soup that was richer. Which to me, is a travesty. There is no time to make it better before I start my day. Off to work I go.

Strange Maze like entrance but nice place, depending upon the crowd can get a little noisy.

Friday night atmosphere was amazing and so relaxing. The band was so involved with the audience. 10/10 we will return and next time bring family and friends!

Great food and service was good. I liked the atmosphere here but gave it three stars on that because I was seated next to bathroom door and a line was formed at my back. Awkward.

I got one of their iced lattes. It was made very quickly, and was one of the best I've had. I will definitely be back here again.

Great spot to come for breakfast, if you are able to sit outside on the patio, I would not hesitate. Carefree is a great place to spend the day and the Black Mountain Cafe is a great place to start your day!

Ordered eggs over medium. They were over easy. Chicken fried steak was perfect hosere the gravy was too salty. Got it to go, so I probably could have fixed it had I dined in.

I ordered the black out iced large. First time visit, waiting for 8min with one vehicle at the window. I not ever visit these shops again.bad service DO NOT VISIT THEM. THE LOCATION WAS AT WADDELL AND THE 303.8 MIN FOR A BEVERAGE.

Wow this place is great and I can't wait to come back to try other home made great tasting food! Laura was so nice and friendly, even though she is a Vikings fan, we got along great and she helped us pick the right things from the menu. Huge coffee in a huge mason jars!
Great prices, friendly vibes and this place has been around since 1964, since Carefree was brand new!

Biscuits and gravy hardly edible. Biscuits were dry and the gravy was a white mush and tasteless. The coffee was weak and bland. Surprising for a coffee shop.
While we were there we watched a staff member take supermarket muffins and repackage them to make them look like they were homemade.

Cool place I found on the weekend. Comfortable inside and food was good in my opinion. Family enjoyed it as well so I would like to come back again!

This is the perfect place to go to if you don't like your food heavily seasoned. The gravy was a bland sausage gravy and felt a bit thinner than most gravies so I ended up adding breakfast sausage seasoning and some green chilis. The over easy eggs were over well eggs but that's great with Louisiana hot sauce so that worked out ok. The biscuits were phenomenal! Home fries had a beautiful layer of golden brown, a nice outside crunch and delicious insides, adding onions and peppers was the right choice. The cinnamon roll was soft and melty. It'll pair great with coffee. All in all I feel $18 is asking a little much for this dish and feel $14.50 would be more appropriate for the quality and flavor with that quantity. Amazing little cafe! Iced White Chocolate latte with Caramel was delicious. Nice patio area, incredible food. Definitely try the house biscuits Dog friendly

Yummy! This is the only place I've found that still has the sausage patties that were once in every cafe and coffee shop in the West. It has a neighborly, welcoming feel you don't often get at a restaurant anymore. This was our first visit, but definitely not the last!
UPDATE 9/7/22: Still a great place for breakfast! Friendly as ever, food precisely as ordered. It's up a couple of steps, same floor as Althea West, which you can easily see from the parking lot.

Stopped in for some chili. Service was excellent Sammy and Rayna are wonderful. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone. It’s a stop for the “bucket list”:)

Just had the Turkey/Avocado Club and it was great as usual. Good iced tea and Sammy is a fantastic server. They are meticulous about cleanliness. Great place to eat!

Food was very good. However, We waited 15 min. For a menu and coffee then 30 mins for food and the another 15 to get the bill.

Very small and is always busy. Service staff is wonderful and food is very good. Gravy for biscuits was not good this time. We have been there many times and the other times the gravy was better. We will be back

This is a nice little coffee shop and cafe with limited indoor seating and quite a lot of outside seating. People were friendly and the atmosphere casual. We were on an early morning walk so we only had coffee and a hot chocolate but intend to return for the full breakfast before leaving the area.

I love the coffee shop cafe! Don't be fooled by the name, they have a full menu of breakfast and lunch food. Iced teas and iced coffees are served in large mason jar mugs and you can take your remaining drink to go. The cinnamon rolls are delicious, so are the sweet potato fries, soups, BLTs, everything is so yummy. Indoor seating is limited, but they have a nice shaded patio with plenty of tables. I noticed outdoor heaters for the cold mornings. This is a popular spot so anticipate a wait during peak hours. It's in a cute shopping area with a lovely cactus garden, waterfall water fountains, a very large sundial, splash pad, playground and beautiful views. You won't be bored waiting for a table.

Best breakfast around! The last two times l ate here I ordered there special for the Day and it did not disappoint! Great service with plenty of friendly servers to help.

Our waitress knocked it out of the park anticipating our every need. I loved the mountaineer breakfast and I had plenty of food leftover to take home.

This has been my favorite place for breakfast for years. It just gets better and better! And lunch is excellent as well. They take pride in everything they do. This is an Arizona treasure!

I have been here over 12 times in the past year. I understand things happen at times but 8 out of the 12 times I have been here, I had to wait over ten minutes to get served. Some of those times, I had to get up and go request to be helped. The food has been decent though I have had them forget to give me my toast and other little things like that. Yesterday was the last time. I waited ten minutes and other people that came in 5 minutes after me got served at the same time. When the server came to my tale she was polite and apologized for the wait while she put down the menu and began walking away.not even asking what I want to drink. I stopped her and said, c"can I just order. " (Been there enough, know the menu.) She didn't even listen to me and said, "Oh, you have been helped. Ok. I repeated myself and then she said oh, sure. I ordered a waffle and she said the waffle machine isn't working. I get things happen, but that many times in a row is a sign. There are other places around where you get served in a decent amount of time.

Great breakfast place, and lunch is good as well. Staff is very attentive, has been a fixture in Carefree for decades. Inside and outside seating, and nice ambiance.

Drove past and decided to stop by this local coffee place. We were met with friendly welcomes which played a big role in our review. Located in the Historic Spanish Village, we ordered an iced latte, smoothie and after some deliberation, the cinnamon roll frizzles. I wasn’t highly impressed with the smoothie or the frizzles, but my partner thought the frizzles and her coffee were fantastic. Would recommend for the hospitality!

Cute place love the atmosphere here. The food is so yummy and huge chai lattes. Definitely come check this place out. Alice was awesome server.
Hidden little gem.

We enjoyed our breakfast. Our server and the staff were very friendly. We ordered 3 items for a family of 4 and still had leftovers. Our server gave us water and coffee to go. We highly recommend this place.

Very nice and popular with the locals. Service is good and the food is fresh and great tasting. The Veggie Omelete was a great choice for me.

I have never been to the Black Mountain coffee shop before. Four of us rode our bikes into Cave Creek, and decided to stop for coffee. It was a weekday, not crowded, late morning before lunch, and at least two waitresses working. We wanted to scope out the Cafe, maybe bring other biking friends to the Cafe, maybe come back with our wives or other friends. All of us ordered, nobody had a bill for more than $10. I just had coffee, which my bill totaled exactly $3, for one cup of coffee.

Waitress never once came by and asked if we needed anything else, never offered to refill or warm up our coffee.

I gave waitress a $5 bill, my friend next to me gave her a $10 bill for what he had that totaled $5.56. The other two used a credit card. Waitress came back several minutes later with the credit card receipts, and handed the “change” to the person who gave her $10. But, she only gave him back four one dollar bills, what happened to rest of the change? My friend figured if she wanted to keep his change that would be her tip. The other three got up and went to the front door, leaving me sitting waiting for my change. I had to ask the other waitress to tell my waitress I was still waiting for my change, was she going to just keep that change as well?

So between our wives, family members, friends, the other people we bicycle with. Thats a lot of people who will not be going to that Restaurant.

This place is one of my favorites! Fair prices, large dishes and the staff are consistently friendly.

A cozy little breakfast and lunch cafe with delicious food. Seems like it’s family owned with good prices and excellent customer service. This is going to be a regular stop for us from now on!

Been eating their country fried steak and eggs literally over 20 years - my parents would take me here when I was a kid. I've gone a couple times in the past year and loved it as much as I remembered. Pro tip: get a biscuit instead of toast and add a side of gravy.

We love the Black Mountain Coffee Shop and come here almost every Sunday! The servers are friendly, the shop is cute and cozy, located in the charming heart of "downtown" Carefree, and the outdoor patio is so pretty with such a great view of the mountains. The food selection and quality is great and they have the best mochas and chais!

Staff were very nice and efficient, smiley enjoyed their job it seemed, plus it was nice seeing that had good chemistry with each other which is what people like in a lot of restaurants, I will def be coming back here for breakfast, might be my fav place:) one thing they could have done a bit better is making your entrance a little more welcoming by saying something more before telling you to sit where ever, other than that, beautiful place and people:)

If you've never made it up to cave Creek to eat at Black Mountain Coffee Shop get here early it's a great place to eat!

Started off not so good, nobody even acknowledged us for a few minutes when we walked in. Then Lisa took care of us, Great breakfast, excellent service! Can't wait to come back!

Amazing food and our server Christina H was very attentive. I'm glad they're still open and seemed busy for a Saturday morning. The Chocolate Waffle was amazing.

We had two great omelets here. They were a bit tastier than the normal omelet, but for no obvious reason. I can't say why. Just delicious.
