La Herradura Mexican Restaurant & Cantina

One of our favorite places to go to before or after ODU games or events. Love the staff! We've been going to this location for over 10 plus years.

Pretty much your regular Mexican restaurant, nothing fancy or amazing enough to come back. The waiter couldn't speak any English and was too busy hanging out with co-workers. Won't be back.

Not the best, not the worse right in between. The drinks are probably the worse part here. We were a party of 4 and we all go different drinks to try. Not a single drink of ours was good. The prices for those drinks were a bit unreasonable no taste at all either. When it comes to food it was alright the portion was good but some of the food tasted old not quite fresh and again for the price it just wasn’t worth it. Would I eat here again? No, thank you. Not worth it at all.

One of the best restaurants in Norfolk, bar none. Service is professional, and the food is superb. Excellent location being in ODU turf and easy to find.

Great little Mexican restaurant near Chartway arena where you can grab a quick bite before graduation ceremonies.

I know they are short staffed however the food was definitely good! Im still partial to another Mexican restaurant however this place is still great! I would definitely recommend

It's alright.the food's decent. I've had better. But this place has been around for such a long time and still here! That's gotta say something! They just worked out the kinks so no one says, 'it stinks! '

A lot of these Mexican restaurants have similar tastes. I know of a few which have better food.

While the servers are decent, the food really is lacking flavor for the price. Even the “specials” seem like fast food Mexican. You will also spend $50 on 3 so-so margaritas….

Update: Service and food still very good. Like all other restaurants still recovering from Covid. Enjoy coming here, I feel like the food is fresher here than other Mexican restaurants in the area.
Typical Mexican restaurant. Fast, efficient and friendly service. Food is good and is served quickly. Prices are average maybe a little high but not too much. Great if you are in a hurry. Very family oriented where the servers are very attentive.

It's was good. I can't say I can give it five stars. The chimichanga's are a little bland. But, service was decent and the sweet tea was great. I definitely wouldn't mind going back and trying something different though.

Probably the BEST restaurant at ODU! LA H is always a great spot to grab some good Tacos and Margs.

Came in after an ODU basketball game with my three minions.
Fresh chips, salsa AND the Hampton Roads white dip (don't ask what's in it just enjoy!) came out right away. Fresh all around!
Littlest minion had the soft taco kids plate and fully approved of taco, Brice and beans. Middle minion opted for a cheeseburger and fries, also rave reviews. Oldest and I split the Texas Nachos and barely finished them! They had shrimp, chicken AND steak plus a healthy serving of guac and sour cream!
Good spot to grab a bite of you're over by ODU for sure! Oh and worth mentioning we all ate our full for about $40! I spend almost that much at McD's these days!

It is nice Mexican restaurant and staff are nice and friendly and service is fast and great and they are super clean and they have a nice menu but they are expensive a little bit and also they have to extend lunch special hours

So had the lunch Chicken Fajita's today, you pay extra for rice and beans. Nothing special, about what you expect. The chips were old, so that was not great. If you want Mexican and it's close, not great but not bad. Probably have eaten here 4 times.

Drinks are good food is low quality and ain’t made with no love this place is for non traveled people who don’t know any better

It was good overall but be careful with the staff they tried to sell me a large pizza for almost double the price

My first time ever eating there. Will definitely go again because they were very professional and the food was well prepared. The lunch menu prices were very reasonable for the entree sizes.

In all honesty I hate my money was wasted at this place. The food, I got fajitas texanas, was cooked but lukewarm once it reached my table. On the menu it says made with onions and peppers, which is fine if I didn't enjoy those I'd simply ask for them to take it out when i ordered however once I received my food there was ground up, like in a blender, green peppers poured over all of my meat. Which I disliked and wasn't informed that that would be across my food, and when I asked what it was I was told and then basically told to pick it off by my server. I'm not one to complain back to a waiter if my food isn't exactly what i ordered; however I have an issue with my server when I am not eating my food and instead of asking the person, me, who wasn't eating it because she disliked it he proceeds to ask my date "oh she no like it" and when I answer saying no I don't but it's fine ans you proceed to shake your head back and forth as if saying no or in disbelief we have a problem. When we sat down he asked what we wanted for drinks and proceeded to take fifteen minutes in bringing them, when there was only one other table in the restaurant at his section. He also never refilled our drinks upon request and he never refilled out chips, white sauce, or salsa even though we requested it. All in all don't go if you want good Mexican food and good service. You won't get it here.

I tried this place already with my friend and I am addicted since then. I love the fantastic mood and delightful food and drinks. I recommend this place.

Always good margaritas and servers. The chips we got were really stale and cold, but that was the only thing that wasn't all that appealing. Will always come back for the margs!

This is a great option if you are vegetarian. I order without cheese for near-vegan option. The prices are reasonable, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is pleasant.

My wife and I enjoyed the chicken fajitas and our granddaughter had a delicious cheese quesadilla the food and the service are always awesome at La herradura

It was okay, basic Mexican but I went for lunch so maybe dinner is better? ! I did enjoy their white salsa chip sauce though. Many places don’t have that and their’s is delicious. Came
out fast of course but felt a bit rushed by the waiter at times.

Not the best today. And it's supposed manager right that I was going to complain to which I thought was just a bar made sucked not a good experience today.

Fantastic service here and the food was great! I got the Herradura super (five enchiladas each with a different filling) which came with chips and two dips. I would have loved a little more spices in the food, but I feel like that was just that particular dish. Can't wait to come back there again!

Expensive for quality of food, but entrees were decent. Green salsa tasted like water. No margarita pitchers. Service was good.

Great place to train your patience.
Went there with my fiance for a date night. The hostess sat a party of 12 before us, even though we got there before them. Food took about 20 min to arrive. The waiter couldn't speak English and got my order wrong. Waiter wasn't around to refill my drink or chips and salsa, or ask if we needed anything, not even once. As soon as I got my food I asked him to take the enchilada back because it had cheese on it and I had specifically asked for no cheese. I said I didn't need a replacement, that I would just eat the rest of the combo and for them to just take it from the check (by then I was already full from eating chips for 20 min). When he brought our check we asked him why he was charging me for the whole combo and didn't take out the enchilada. He couldn't understand but felt defensive enough to be rude to us. We asked to please talk to the manager and the manager said he was going to take care of it. But 10 min later they came back saying nothing was wrong with the check, with a TERRIBLE attitude. So we paid for the whole thing and left because that whole experience had already ruined the evening. Don't waste your time, unless you are in some kind of patience training. Lol. Needless to say, we're never going back there. After all of this, does it even matter if the food was good?

Never a wait, always clean and fast service. Great american-ized Mexican food. The only thing that sucks is you either have to park in the deck and walk or park in street side metered parking (pay during certain posted hours). Always has had nice wait staff and good "typical" Mexican restaurant dishes.

They got my order wrong. Took my food back and messed it up again. They were really slow with bringing the food. And they had a really bad attitude.
