Thai Smile

One of my favorite places probably ever! The staff are lovely hardworking people and the food is just amazing. The location has changed hands many times but this is the best rendition yet! I hope people can enjoy it for years to come as it is a real treat.

My only recommendation is be careful with the spice levels the first time! Everywhere is a bit different so it’s always good to test the waters gently. No judgement if the heat is intense!

There are seriously big options coming out of this tiny establishment. Big on flavor, freshness and appeal. Lots of take-out happened while I waited 10 minutes for my spring rolls, outside on the patio. Piping hot, crisp and delish. Then my shrimp, veggie and glass noodle entree' came, far more than I could eat in one sitting. You won't be disappointed. Authentic, fresh and [chef's kiss] flavors.

The food here was delicious and different! It was not the same things you see in every Thai restaurant. We ordered a crispy roll, Tom yum soup and two vegetarian entrees all of which were fantastic.

Great place to stop in the spring. The outdoor seating was pleasant and warm. Food came quickly and waiter was attentive. We ordered the chicken katsu, green curry with chicken, and spring rolls. It seemed like it was a popular take away place.

First time getting food there tonight. I got chicken pad thai, extra chicken, medium spice. I'm in my opinion it was perfect and just what i needed after a long day. Compliments to the chef.

Service was wonderful. Food served very quickly. Lovely presentation of food. Very fresh and cooked to perfection. Atmosphere pleasant with video of Thailand's beautiful scenery and beaches. Quiet and peaceful place to have a meal. Highly recommended.

It’s a nice Thai restaurant. Very delicious and savory. I’m not vegan but I love mushrooms and vegetable so recently started to fall in love with vegetable dish so I ordered vegetable green curry and it was really great! I wanna try it again. I really recommend this place if you love Thai food?

It's a small restaurant and not enough seats for the long weekend skiers. We ended up ordering take-out and waited over an hour for them. ️ and they stated about 20 minutes.

My husband and I stopped in after a day of snowboarding and it was SO worth it! We had the Panang and the red curry, both were delicious! Portion sizes were great and the food came out pretty quick. Will definitely be back on our next Stowe trip:)

A must try if you're in the area. All 5 dishes we ordered were delicious, and the level of the spice was perfect.

I eat a lot of thai food and this is one of the best I’ve tried, at least one of the courses I tried. Phenomenal.

Came here with some friends during a snow boarding trip. The place was well decorated with a small amount of dine in seating. It was packed. People in every seat including the waiting room and tons of people picking up carry out. Good signs. We got seated and a man with some sick tatoos who I think may have been an owner (not sure) was serving the whole restaraunt and doing carry out. Absolute boss. He was hilarious. After ordering the Basil duck, he said "you gone learn something today. "

I sure did learn something. This place slaps. Everything was really tastey. I got their wings, tom yum, and duck basil. My friends got another duck curry dish with pinneapple lychi and some other things. We were all blown away by the flavors of everything. The wings were top notch, duck was super tender with a crunchy exterior, garnished beautifully with some crunchy basil leaves. The tom yum had so many flavors and you could taste each ingredient individually. I also got shrimp with it, which were perfectly cooked. I tried some.of the duck curry and holy moley was it delicious. The duck was so tender and just melted in your mouth.

Do yourselves a favor, youll be smiling for sure after coming here. At least get carryout but dining in is the true experience. The man who was waiting tables is a boss and it was a pleasure to eat there. We will definitely come back if in the area again. Thanks Thai Smile!

Good and yummy Thai food in the area! Was pleased to have something soupy during cold winter after a day of working out!

Crab fried rice, Panang curry, and pad thai noodles were so good. Would also recommend the Tom Yum too!

Staff were very friendly and the food came out quickly. No sushi on the menu and I was disappointed in the pad thai. My boyfriend did not like the dumplings either.
Small restaurant, kept my jacket on as the door was open in January.

Amazing Thai food. The duck was to die for. Will definitely be returning any time we're in Waterbury.

We stopped by to pick up Thai food after a big hike to make dinner easier. I asked the man if we could get the eggplant dish with NO SPICE, since my friend has a medical condition that prevents him from eating spicy food. He answered YES and took the order. He charged extra for exchanging one veggie for another (without warning me). When we arrived back at the campground very hungry and ready to eat, we discovered the food was extremely spicy so my friend wasn't able to eat it at all. I suffered through eating it but it was so spicy I could hardly taste it. Just be careful, either this man doesn't understand questions, or just wanted to rush us through the order so answered dishonestly. Either way, we ended up without the dinner we were so looking forward to.

In Vermont on a nursing contract. Went to tour the Ben &Jerry's ice cream factory and got a glimpse of the quaint Thai restaurant on the way. After the tour I checked the reviews and decided to give it a try. I ordered the crab fried rice (real crab) no tomatoes and vegetable spring rolls. Both were delicious.pictures below. The crab rice was $16.50 and the rolls were $5. I took one star because my glass of water was dirty. It's small inside but still a good place to get a bite to eat. The elderly gentleman was fairly friendly. Given the opportunity I would return.

A true take out Thai gastronomic treat to the tastbuds

We had shrimp rolls with peanut butter dipping sauce - the shrimp rolls were huge and very tasty & the peanut butter sauce perfect the shrimp rolls.followed up with some authentic delicious steamed dumplings.

We ordered a main dish of Spicy Basil pork with extra pork (Mild Spices) The dish was super delicious but even the mild spicy order was very hot spice wise (think fire breathing heat). We still devoured the main dish enjoying every morsel!

We cannot wait to be back in Waterbury again in order to partake this authentic Thai fare!

We weren't smiling after dining at the Thai Smile. While the service was good and the portions generous, the taste/quality of the food was disappointing. The "pho Smile" was cloyingly sweet and the pieces of cabbage in the pad thai dish as tough as leather.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Everything I’ve had on the menu is delicious. It feels like a treat to get takeout or dine in here.

Good service and excellent quality food. Definitely not fast food style. They prepare it when we order and it’s fresh and very authentic.
Quite spicy too, even if you get “mild”

50 mins for pad Thai. Also overheard a group of three who were able to order an appetizer that came out frozen and then gave up waiting for an entree.

Homely ambience, reasonable price, generous proportions. Staff and service is laid back, unhurried. Hey this is Stowe, not NYC ;-)

Wide variety of decent food for our area. Sometimes the quality varies. I think they have gotten better with time. Really don't have many Thai options close.

Super yummy first time we ate there but this time was WAAAY too spicy (even the dish I ordered to by mild). So just a warning to you all.

We are staying across the street and noticed Thai Smile. We really enjoyed our meals and appetizer. The server / owner was very pleasant.

We’ve ordered take-out from Thai Smile a few times by placing the orders online. Excellent experience with timeliness, delicious food and a very friendly welcome! Always generous portions! Our favorite is the Rama Dish with peanut sauce, tofu and lots of veggies! Thank you for all your efforts! We will be back!

They just reopened, and as far as reasonable Thai food in VT goes, you really can't go wrong! Everything was delicious and the owner was delightful. We'll definitely be coming back.

I would have loved to have tried their food but I wasn't given the opportunity. I work in the food industry and understand how difficult things are right now but that doesn't excuse bad customer service. I tried to place an order online and a glitch in their system wouldn't allow me to place an order. I then tried to call and the first time I called I was put on hold for ten minutes, meaning the phone was put on the the desk or stand and I had to listen to people's conversations. I hung up and tried again later and the second time I was put on hold for 5 minutes and hung up on without a word. The third and final time I actually got to speak to someone only to be told they couldn't place my order. This review will be updated if I ever get the chance to try their food.

So good. Large quantity and great price. The green curry took me back to Thailand in one bite. Also spicy means spicy here.

Food was good. The wait for the meal was very long but I understand it's hard to get help. Money is too easy to get for free from the government these days.

The food was very tasty and cooked to precision. I asked for certain things to be added and removed and everything was perfect. The prices are on the higher end, but supply and demand. Not many Thai foods in the area, so it's completely understandable and fair. I will be eating there again. Thank YOU!

A great option for curbside pickup between Waterbury and Stowe. Friendly service and generous portions. I loved the Panang Curry with Duck special, and we also enjoyed several helpings of Pad Thai. They kindly accommodated my request for no added sugar.

Our small town is lucky to have such delicious Thai food. Our favorite orders are fresh spring rolls, pad Thai, pad see ew, and the chicken rama (that peanut sauce - so good!). And don’t skip the mango sticky rice!

I’ve been to Thailand and the Thai food there was amazing. I’ve been to Stowe and the Thai food there was amazing. You could tell ingredients were fresh and food was cooked to order. 10/10 flavors. We got the fried rice, fried fish, and red curry. We are now in NH and are thinking about driving back for some more Thai smile. Also, very helpful staff!

The best Thai restaurant in New England. The taste is authentic as we had in Thailand and the hosts are very welcome. It's very busy during the peak time so order ahead!

Shockingly good Thai food for Vermont. I had the spicy green bean stir fry with tofu. Super flavorful and a huge portion. This place gives Wilaiwan's in Montpelier a serious run for its money.

This was overall a bad experience for us. The potatoes in the curry were raw, the wide rice noodles were hard and the steamed shrimp "shumai" were filled with something dry and pasty. The fried and soft tofu in our dishes were tasty and the steamed jasmine rice was good. The person who took our order over the phone was nice and helpful.

Absolutely Devine! The best Thai food by far in Vermont. It was so delicious that we drove back to have dinner 2 days in a row. Highly recommend

At last! We have found spicy food in Vermont! We ordered several items this last week for a family dinner, including fresh rolls, Massaman curry, basil duck, and kua kling (special). The latter two were ordered extra spicy and they came true to those words. Love it when my sinuses get melted! And they weren't just spicy, but incredibly flavorful. Can't believe it has taken us this long to discover this place. We will be back soon.

I have eaten here many times and the food is delicious but my today's experience leads to this bad review. 5 people on the table and only I was in a hurry because I had a meeting to attend. I asked for my single dish order to be made first. After 35 minutes everyone on the table got the food except me. I asked for mine to be made "to go" and I paid for it. After 10 minutes, order is still no where to be seen and I had to leave without taking the food and requested my colleagues to bring the to go.

Whoa nellie, this place has changed chefs recently, because the food is now amazing, up from just ok.excellent pad kee Mao, khoa soi, larb! Going to be a once a weeker again!

This place is awesome! The service was great and our waitress was really nice. The food was really tasty and super authentic Thai food. Be careful with the spiciness levels of some of the dishes though, spicy means spicy. Would definitely recommend!

It used to be an excellent place before it changed owners. We would travel 1/2 hour out of our way for one of their Thai beef soup. It was very dissapointing the last time we stopped by and had pho. It was the worst pho that I ever had; and I eat pho almost once a week. Will not go back.

This place changed hands last year and I'm very pleased to report that it is now much improved. Now way above generic, the food is authentic, creative, fresh and inexpensive. You can even get a can of Heady Topper for $6.

Big portions with a good flavor. We visited driving through town and we picked well. Super friendly staff and tasty food. Worth a stop.
