El Matador is the best restaurant I have ever been to. The whole staff is super responsive and friendly and the managers are the best in the business. I will continue to bring my friends and family here for years to come. The Main Street tacos are my go to every time I eat here (which is becoming pretty frequent) Bring your friends and family down here for an amazing Tex-Mex meal.

Ellie was a star. She checked on us often. My aunt need something and Elle was right there. Always filling our drinks. The fried ice cream was delicious!

Everything was great, the lettuce in my salad was old and brownish but everything else was great!

Delightfully excellent. Can be noisy when full. During weekend dinner hours, moderate wait time to be seated.

I’ve been coming here for 30+ years and have never had the service be as good as it was tonight! KesleeTyson was on top of it. We never had to ask for drink refills and she checked on us several times with a beautiful smile.

One of my favorites! The food is always amazing and I LOVE the warm salsa, add some cheese and I’m in heaven! The owner is always attentive and the service is great!

Place is a joke. $27 for 2 enchiladas rice beans chips salsa and guac. Chips are literally from Costco and put in a different bag. Definitely not worth the price.

Noah was super pleasant and friendly. He was on top of it very attentive and brought refills before they were ready! The food was good and the wait was short!

El Matador is probably the most well known Mexican restaurant in the Bountiful area which makes it very busy and wait times sometimes very long. The food is good, portions are big. Their salsa isn't my favorite.

Everything at El Matador just keeps getting better. We have been coming for years and we love the food more than ever. Service is amazing. We also love chatting with the owner. Restaurant business is so hard and these sweet people are awesome.

I ordered the Chipotle chicken tacos the last time I was here (June 2021). They tasted like reheated frozen chicken. There was no flavor in the sauce, the tortillas were soggy, and overall it was ridiculously bland. I've never been impressed with their food in the past, but that was the last straw. They didn't even have lime jarritos drinks either, the one flavor that I like!

The waitress was not attentive and kept pouring too much ice and not enough water in my cup. Not planning to ever come back again unless they decide to hire real chefs that make flavorful food that is well above the current subpar standard that I've seen.

The fact that I would have to ask for a manager is a ridiculous notion. We were there for a big family dinner, so I didn't want to be the last one to finish eating while everyone else had already started or were halfway through their meal.

I'm sorry,   but you shouldn't just blame the pandemic for the issues at your place. I've eaten here a handful of times long before 2020, and the food was never really that great in my opinion.

I truly cannot say better things about this wonderful restaurant. I have been going to this restaurant since I was a baby with my parents and now come almost once a week with my cute husband and three kids. We feel at home when we are there. The food is remarkable! You never have to ask for a refill and the Diet Coke I daydream about it when I’m not there. The cha cha bowl (pork salad mango salsa) is so delicious. The sweet pork enchilada is really good too. We buy their salsa it’s so good.
The thing that I adore about this restaurant is the service. You walk in and every staff member makes you feel so special. It truly has us hooked because we feel so welcomed. The owner works hard and always pops over to ask us how we are doing. They truly care! Tracy, she’s a server, best server hands down. You won’t find a server like this anywhere. She is patient, happy, and on point with what you need. She is willing to do what she can to make your experience good.
We are so grateful for a place for our kiddos to enjoy a night out…though our kiddos destroy and make a mess they never ever appear to be annoyed when we come in often. We love you elmatador to many more years!

Dropped in last night just as El Matador was closing. The staff was so friendly! Tracy was so great as our waitress. We haven't been here for years so we were happy to have the same great salsa and Coke! I ordered the chili relleno and tamale and enjoyed both. Will definitely come back again soon!

I love eating here! From the scones to the jumbo shrimp, you can’t go wrong. Also adding warm salsa to the mix makes it unique and one of a kind. But most of all the people there are great. We love Claire and how hard she works. She truly makes our experience there even better! Thanks Claire.

The Cha Cha bowl was great. The only person that seemed happy to see me, with my tattoos and lace, was my server, but she had to be. Right from the get, the hostess didnt know what to do when I said "just 1". Took a couple of minutes, but when I was finally taken to be seated, there wasnt a single person of any ethnic backround in the place! This is a mexican restaurant, right? Why does it appear that only people of a certain religion occupy this place. The, I'm assuming owner, was even at a table talking to a boy about to go on a mission and how she knew everyone everywhere because her daughter played soccer. I havent felt more judged in my life. I even tried to smile at a couple as I was walking out and they both put their heads down. I'll never be back and I'll be sure to tell my constituents about my experience, as well. Too bad. Could have brought in a lot of business. And, like I said before, the cha cha bowl was great.

We had El Matador cater a high school reunion. Cami with El Matador was wonderful to work with and talked me through dietary restrictions of some of our guests. They delivered the food to our event and made sure everything was perfect. It was delicious. Would definitely hire them again.

Friendly service, great taste and it was rather clean. I enjoyed it and their prices. Had chips and salsa on deck for us while we waited for our order too.

This is a family favorite. Low/reasonable wait times, good service, and the chips and salsa are so good. I’ve only had a few things from the menu but have liked everything I’ve tried. I usually get cheese enchiladas. Always good!

I was not impressed with my meal period. The meat was grisly. The flavor of my burrito was off. $35 later for lunch. Way over priced. Will not go again.

This has got to be the WORST Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Think of it more as a Mexican influenced restaurant, where someone tried some Mexican food a few times then tried to "make it better" with no understanding of the cuisine. Street tacos with burned steak, beans, and almost deep fried shells, salsa that tries to be a blended salsa but ends up closer to an Italian marinara sauce, burritos that are closer to a oversized enchilada, traditional dishes using ground beef, "real" Margaritas without any alcohol, horchata in a glass stuffed with ice so there's no room left for the liquid, beans and rice it was so devoid of flavor I couldn't get more than one single bite down, a traditional food section with no mention of mole, etc.

If your favorite "Mexican" fast food is Taco Bell and you're looking for a nice "Mexican" restaurant that has Mexican Coke, this place is right up your alley and you will be very pleasantly pleased with it. But if you're looking for real Mexican food and have any understanding of the flavor nuances between the different Mexican states, run as far away as you can. You would probably be happier at Taco Bell which is probably a little closer to Mexican food than this.

Oh, and beware of the service. Do not ever make the sin of asking for a glass for a child without ice, because that is not "how they do it". And to add insult to injury, watch out for any trays full of beverages they may be dump all over your 90 year old grandfather. At least they gave him a free shirt and a free meal. It's really too bad they do not serve alcohol, it would have made a much more tolerable experience.

The food is always great and the service awesome. Don’t forget to get cheese with the salsa! It comes out warm and melts right in it! I usually get one of the amazing originals but this time I tried the Maria’s enchiladas. It was really good! The tomatillo sauce is spicier than the normal but still delightful. And don’t forget the Diet Coke with lime and the sopapilla dots! It’s a great end to the meal.

The whole experience during my recent visit was great. The food was served promptly and perfect temperature. Never can go wrong with the heated salsa and cheese. Above all the service was outstanding. Tracy was absolutely one of the best servers I have had in years. She served several tables but somehow made us feel like we were her exclusive customer. 5 stars for her perfect service alone.

We’ve been coming here for years, but tonight’s was simply amazing. We got the chance to talk to the owner and she told us about how they’ve redone how they make their food and it shows. I got the citrus pork tacos and they were seriously the best tacos I’ve ever had. Our waitress, Grace, was helpful and kind as well.
I can’t get over how wonderful it all was! Thank you!

I absolutely love all the people here! They make everything so easy and if you have a problem, they will totally figure things out if you communicate with them. The food is amazing, and I love the quality of service and kindness I get here! Would definitely come every day if I could!

I've been coming to El Matador since my childhood in the early 80's. Although the location has changed since then, the friendly service and quality food has stayed the same. Despite not living in Utah for more than 20 years, I make sure to stop by whenever I am in town. Highly recommend!

First time in El Matador and YOU have to go! It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and staff is extremely friendly. The food is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!

Loved the hot salsa and melted cheese to start our meal! We tried the shrimp burrito which was amazing and also tried the fajita salad which we liked.

We were impressed! The tomatillo sauce is nice and tangy. Not the best chips in the world. But we will definitely be back.

Pretty good home-cooked Mexican. Waitress was fantastic, the food was better-than-average, and the prices were a typical 10-15ish per person for dinner.

We do love El Matador and it's definitely in the upper tiers of Mexican fare in Utah. I can't give 5 stars because I've been to some amazing restaurants out of State (New Mexico in particular) that simply are in a class of their own. But if you can't make it out of State, this restaurant is still pretty good. I wouldn't hesitate recommending El Matador to anyone. Pretty tasty, even if it's a bit on the mild side.

It was at expectations for me. I know that it is the only upscale Mexican and one of the only upscale restaurants in Bountiful is a tough place to do business, it has always (74 yrs) been a place where to go to a upscale place you left town (SLC). Layton and Farmington has out promoted Bountiful.

My husband and I went here on our date tonight and it was FANTASTIC! Grace was our server and she was so happy and fast. The atmosphere is happy and casual- perfect for us. We ordered the balsamic Cotija guacamole and it blew my mind- so amazing. I have never had anything like it before. A MUST have. Also I ordered the steak salad with both dressings and it was also amazing and just so new and different than anything I’ve had before. We are excited to come back soon! Always an excellent meal! Very festive setting for all our occasions. We have many sweet memories there over the years - it's where we picked the name for our first baby boy.

El Matador is truly amazing! Walking in you are greeted by smiling happy faces, it is always a delight to see the friends we’ve made with the sweet El Matador staff! The food is really delicious and we are always happy and excited to try new things because the quality is just spot on! Highly recommend the citrus pork tacos with the pineapple mango salsa, I crave them constantly! The veggie fajitas are also deliciousssssss, my mom is a vegetarian and she is always excited to get such a flavorful and accommodating meal! My dad loves mixed fajitas and says he’d 100% pick them over any entrée at Olive Garden haha! We love the gluten friendly options and how caring and attentive all the servers and cooks are to food preferences and allergies. Thanks El Matador for always creating such a 10/10 experience for us! My family and I love you so much! Keep up the great work!

Seafood Enchilada and the Steak Salad.
The waiters are always courteous and attentive to special needs like food allergies!

We met today for lunch with friends older than dirt and had a great time visiting and the food was excellent as usual and our server was way cool. Never got her ne but she had beautiful braided hair. She was very attentive to us. One of us is a Tuesday regular!

We love El Matador! Love the warm salsa with cheese. Had our wedding luncheon here and return each year. Artoosh was a good man and we miss him but always love visiting with his wife.

The atmosphere here is fantastic! The service at the restaurant is also great! But aside from the queso blanco dip, the food was very bland and boring. The meal was filling and good, but basic boring and a little bland.

Best Mexican in town!

Me and my family have been going to El Matador for years. We love the great food we get each and every time we go.

But we more than that, it is clear that the owners and staff care about each other and their customers. When my mother in law was sick with cancer they took extra care to ensure that we had a safe dining experience for her despite her immune compromised state.

The salsa is unique and fantastic. Make sure you order some shredded cheese to go with it! Order the Tour of Mexico and you will have a great meal!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. My family rotates between El Matador, Robintino’s and Chilie’s for the bulk of our restaurant dining. But El Matador is the one where we feel the most welcome.

I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. The food was pretty good and the service was adequate. I would definitely go there again.

The staff and food here are exceptional! I love coming to not only get quality food, but also to enjoy the company of all the awesome people that work here. Cami (restaurant manager) is the most amazing person/manager you will meet. She has the best attitude everyday and really works hard to provide a 5 star meal!

I'm not a fan of chain restaurants, but I was hopeful as this used to be a local one yrs ago. The chili rellenos was a huge disappointment as it was fried and soggy at the same time.

Try the spicy chipotle enchilada sauce and grilled chicken. Best chips and salsa around. Spacious booths, clean and inviting. Our server Annie was super friendly, attentive, and great!

Good food, I feel like the queso has changed a little so kinda a bummer. But don't let a large amount of cars scare you away. They are fast at getting you a seat and fed. But also great customer service, prompt servers. The food is great! Big fan of their fish tacos.

Not a fan of their chili verde and not a fan of anybody that avoids paying an hours so they don't have to pay the benefits

Great flavors! I had a burrito this visit, and it had noticeably superior flavor to other places I've been. My wife had the cabo fish tacos - it's her go to tasty dish.

Stopped here for lunch and had some great friendly service by Matt. Matt was super kind and made a great recommendation. The food was out fast and was nice and hot. I definitely recommend the restaurant and am planning on bringing my in-laws next time.

We had a great experience at El Matador. Had some bad news at a Dr appointment and stopped for lunch. The staff was very happy, friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had an outstanding lunch! Cami and Annie were very attentive and we made some new friends today.

I usually judge Mexican food by the quality of their sauce first, salsa second, third their enchiladas, and then their basic rice and beans.
For me, the sauce is amazing. The best I’ve ever had. And their salsa? It’s thin, and very flavorful. I love it. Their cheese is spectacular. The rice and beans are okay.
The customer service for me has always been top notch. And the bonus is some delicious horchata!

Come here at least once a week, outstanding service at handling the restaurant during these times, with a great staff, and of course, great food!

I was very unimpressed with the food and service at the El Matador. The food (I had the Relleno) tasted like it was a frozen dinner from the local Walmart, and our waitress was scatter brained and rude. The restaurant was clean and the staff was masked, but no one smiled. The restroom was not clean or stocked and the paper towel dispensers were empty so I could not dry my hands. I will not recommend this restaurant nor will I be returning.

Awesome place! The food was wonderful and the service was great. The staff was very friendly and my group really enjoyed our time there. When we told the server that we were there for a special occasion, the owner came out and personally congratulated me, and gave us all free dessert! Highly recommend the place.
