Closets by Design - Dallas/Ft. Worth

After getting several contractors to give us input, we chose Closets by Design for our closet remodel. The best decision! They could do things that even custom builders told us could not be done! I loved their approach to figuring out what we needed coupled with our ideas of what we wanted. From the first meeting to even after the install, they have been great to work with. Rebecca and the installers were both extremely helpful and very patient as we made adjustments to the original plan. We have now recommended them to everyone! Our closet has gone from collected chaos, to organized serenity! We love it!

Closets by Design (and all other closet companies I imagine) has a basic business plan. Step 1. Design cabinets. Step 2. Install cabinets. Step 3. Profit. This plan may not always be easy to execute as many problems can arise if even one step is partially unsuccessful. I digress.

My experience w/CbD was amazing and I would not hesitate to use them again. First, my designer, Shonda, was very conscientious and methodical in designing the areas (laundry closet and storage room). You will have zero problems if you design with Shonda. So, Step 1 was successful.

Before installation, so many other things went frustratingly sour during my overall renovation. Contractors didn’t communicate, companies delivered shoddy products, and some companies just quit in the middle of their projects. One can imagine what this process does to the psyche. CbD installation was the very last step, so suffice it to say my nerves were so frazzled. I just “knew” that something would go wrong and I couldn’t even sleep the week prior. Yes, custom closets are stressful.

Well, I rested easy. Nelsy and J.arrived on time, scoped out the area, and got to work. I was able to get my own work done without getting interrupted with problems or excessive questions. In the end, I had an amazing storage room and laundry closet. Step 2, check! The attention to detail was amazing. A lot of times an installer will just do shoddy work, shrug their shoulders, and then the customer is left to their own devices to find a solution. That did not happen here. Everything turned out so meticulous and well worth the time and money spent. I already have plans to call again for more rooms and closets. I’m very happy and never imagined I would have such beautiful storage areas.

I am not one to write reviews, but I had to give Mary Ennen and Closets by Design Five Stars! I made the appointment originally to get an estimate and 3 hours later I had a digital design of my new closet! My decision to commit right then was because of Mary and her level of expertise. It was her attention to detail that made me realize I would not find someone as knowledgeable anywhere else. Mary is an architect and the way she helped us utilize every part of our closet was amazing! Mary and her staff were professional, provided good quality and I am so pleased. I highly recommend Mary and Closets by Design!

Unfortunately, the second time around, I will no longer use closet by design. First of communication was extremely difficult, I had to send multiple emails to finally get a response from my consultant. The lady who did the schedules was fantastic.

The gentleman who came to install my closet, made a mess in the driveway and failed to clean up after themselves.

Since they completed the project, no one has sent a follow up on how everything went.

Had a very good experience with Mary. Ask for Mary specifically she is professional and knows exactly what she is doing. She has many wonderful suggestions. Happy with their work. Showed up on time. Great customer service. Will definitely use closet by design again.

The installation didn’t go well due to design error; however, the installation team was able to make adjustments to make things work the way they should. Communication from designer could use a lot of improvement. Management stepped in to resolve problems quickly up to my satisfactory.

This is a trash company don’t do business with this. They are very unprofessional and don’t do the work well. SHAME ON YOU PPL FOR NOT ADDRESSING THE CUSTOMERS WELL

Mary helped with the design of laundry room custom closet and cabinets. She was very patient, followed up periodically but also gave us our space to make a decision. At the end of getting quotes from another competitor we chose closet by design just because of Mary’s customer service. She responded to my texts while she was on vacation. Went above and beyond to accommodate us into her schedule.
This company is lucky to have Mary as an employee.

I absolutely love how they converted my drab closet into a glamorous room. The quality of the woodwork is impeccable and the installers were so professional. I love love my new closet it’s now my favorite place

Everything went as planned. Even a small addition did not affect the flow. The 1sr visit might be impromptu but my sales rep was able to evaluate my wardrobe and EVERYTHING FITS!

The installation was smooth. Stephan is a pro. Not only polite, and clean he knows what he is doing.

I had a master closet designed and installed and custom cabinets for the laundry room installed. The installers were professional, on time, and did a great job. The designer did exactly what I requested and tweaked the design with much better ideas than I had, to provide maximum efficiency. There was a cabinet door and a drawer front with defects: they were promptly replaced. Very pleased. Would use them again.

We just had our primary bedroom closet completed so far with CBD. From design consult to execution of our project, it had been a good experience. We started the process in May but didn't get everything done yet due to the current delays. We are pleased with the work, price and and quality of the products.

The quality and beauty of the end product are excellent. What is more impressive is the human quality of the installers. The two gentlemen assigned to our project were diligent, focused, and detailed. The service provided by these two professionals is second to none. I'm delighted with the purchase but even more with the installation service.

We had Closets by Design remodel a couple of walk-in closets a couple years ago and we were thrilled with the results. We called them back to redesign our laundry room to create more storage and a folding area and Shari crawled into our minds to see what we were envisioning and did an unbelievable job of recreating that vision and creating it in our home. Now we're looking around our home trying to determine what other areas could be perfected. We're obviously big fans of Closets by Design. We'd never look elsewhere for these types of services.

Do not use this company they are a sham and extremely unethical. They lock you into a contract lie about installation and then when you complain and want out you owe them the rest of the money. They have no remedy for people that may need to cancel for financial reasons that may occur during the over 6month wait. They will not negotiate or offer you any relief. I have worked in design for over 40 years and have never dealt with a company that wanted to rip people off this bad. The better business Bureau needs to put them out of business and they should know for being a total scam that charges to much and delays and delays and delays until you try and cancel so they take the rest of your money. Take this post as an extreme warning!

Gina was absolutely amazing to work with and made sure we had an amazingly beautiful, functional.but still in our budget, closet at the end of the day! I would absolutely recommend Closets by Design to a friend! Ask for Gina, she was amazing!

I am very pleased with Closets by Designs. We had a small issue that was resolved ASAP after I brought it to their attention. My designer was, Stephanie Thomas. She did an amazing job for the space she had to work with. I have a lot of clothes and shoes. I decluttered and purged some of my items. I wasn't using or wearing a lot of the stuff. Now, our closets look amazing ️ So, if you are on the fence make sure you go ahead and sign on the dotted line. You won't be disappointed. They also gave me a complimentary wardrobe rod. A neat little gadget.

The sales rep was awesome: She explained all the options, discounts, showed samples. She took the extra step to negotiate the installation date with the office.

The actual installation had some hiccups:
- On the first attempt they found out that there was one panel missing and they did not have one available at their storage. They piled up parts in the closet and left it half done for several days.
- On the second attempt the installer insisted that he did not have to cover the bottom until I showed him the signed contract with the line item to cover the bottom.
- The gaps between the drawers are uneven (3/8" vs 1/8"). When I pointed this out to the installer he said that it was normal and they could not do better. Not sure if it could be better but I accepted the way it was.

Overall, while the result is not perfect, it looks good. Also, required some involvement from my side to get it done to contract.

Closet installation.
Sales was nice an knowledgeable. Closet was installed and looks great. Value was fair. The only concern I had, there was no communication once I signed an paid. No follow up call/email reminding me of the appointment.

This is my second home to have garage cabinets installed. 1st home was completed and second home is halfway completed, will be calling again for additional garage cabinets until completed. They are professionals, cabinets are beautiful and I get “lots” of compliments always. Please call for an appointment…. What are you waiting for.

Everyone I dealt with at CBD was professional and a pleasure to deal with. Our closet system was installed on the exact date and time they initially gave me. Pricing was not great but it's the price for not doing things yourself, so I'm okay with it. Thanks CBD!

I used Closets by Design to redo my master closet and an another upstairs bedroom closet and they were phenomenal. The designer really took the time to work with me and listen to my needs when helping to design them. I never felt pressured and she was very knowledgeable about the product. The installers were originally scheduled to come out for two days but with weather delays, they were only able to come the second scheduled day. However, they worked quickly and efficiently and were able to finish both closets in one day. They were also very friendly and respectful of my home and the fact that I was working while they were there. The end result is fantastic - the quality is wonderful and my closets are now super functional. In addition, they beat out three other competitors' pricing by a significant amount. Highly, highly recommend.

We had a designer come out and measure our closet and all of our clothing needs and she came up with a design that perfectly fit our needs. The installer was very professional and kind. We are very pleased and would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade a closet!

We had the most wonderful experience with Closets by Design. Our designer really listened to what I wished for and made it happen. (The hardest part is waiting for your appointment!) Reggie was our lead installer and was so professional and also personable. We couldn’t have asked for better service. We did master closet, laundry room and hall/shoe closet.

From the design to the install, everyone at the company were professional and courteous. The product came out as designed and it was a quick install. It was a three month wait but they kept us updated throughout the wait.

I wish I had started on yelp to see their reviews. This company is a complete waste of time. I had an appointment for a consultation and the original appointment went fine. I let the consultant take all the time she needed to get measurements and figure out what needs to be done. She told me she would work on the design and proceeded to set a time to come see me the following Monday. This was the last time I would ever hear from her. She didn’t show up, didn’t call or text…nothing.

This was right before the holidays, so I called back after the holidays to see what happened and asked if someone else could follow up with me because at this point, why would I want to work with someone who didn’t care enough to follow up with me? The next available appointment was a month out, so I respectfully declined and let them know I would go another way. Their manager called back to understand what happened and offered to make it right by sending someone out to see me in a few days. I honestly believe in second chances so I agreed.

I made arrangements to be available for the appointment, even gave them an hour buffer before and after, just in case. No one showed up…how do you ask for a second chance and don’t show up…AGAIN? !

Do yourself a favor, try someone else!

I decided to get a custom closet after my present closet rods started to fall. The consultation was great. The consultant really helped my get the design I wanted and liked. However, I had to wait 3 months for the install (designed in Nov; installed Feb).

About a week before the install, I was contacted to move the install date a day earlier-I agreed. I had to call around 6pm the day before the new install date to find out when I should expect the installers (since I did not hear or receive any communications). I was told the installers would be here between 9am-12pm. After 12 pm (again with no communication), I called to find out if (or when) they were coming. I was told they were still at the first job and should be coming soon. They did not get to my house till 1: 30pm. They did not finish until around 6pm. I had dinner plans at 7pm that I was an hour late.

When I talked to Gia, she asked me what compensation did I want and when I told her $250 off, she says she can not do that but will send me a $50 gift card for dinner. I did agree because I was ready for this to end. However, I never received that neither. But she was quick to give me a deadline to when I had to pay the balance which I thought was very insensitive since THEY were at fault.

I will say I am pleased with the design and look of the closet, thanks to Debra.but the communication and customer service was HORRIBLE. If I am not sure I would use Closets by Design for any of my future projects.

We had our primary closet and the pantry done with Closets by Design. We had to wait 3 months for an installation date, so it did take a while and within that time, we had forgotten what we had ordered. The team that actually did the install was great. They did both for us in 6 hours and the results are exactly what we expected.

They did a custom closet for me and it is fantastic! The quality is 10/10 and their customer service is even better. Very friendly and accommodating, we will definitely use them in the future and recommend them to all our friends.

I love our 3 custom closets! The Primary is absolutely gorgeous, and our designer Morgan was fantastic and so responsive. We liked what Morgan and CBD did so much with the Primary, that we had 2 reach-in closets done at the same and had custom cabinets added to our laundry area. We are also having a mudroom cabinet done later this month. I mean we REALLY love the work. I have already recommended Morgan and CBD to other friends.

Closet design did a great job of transforming my husband and I, closets. Originally, our closets weren't as spacious like we needed them to be to fit all our clothes and shoes, we had items in plastic containers. When closet design came out, they accessed what we had now and asked us what was most important to us and went from there. The process was a little long but when the people came out to build the closets, ewe understood why and wouldn't change a thing now.

Pricey but Closets By Design did a good job for me. Know there are add ons coming at the end that one would think as basic and included. Professional team, excellent design and materials. Good follow through after the sale to make adjustments.

Debra is great to work with.highly recommend. This is our second project with Debra as our design consultant.

We did a walk in closet. It turned out amazing, great quality of materials, great customer service.

We love the custom built-ins they designed and installed. We recently had water damage to one of our closets. Closets by Design was outstanding to work with and responded promptly to remove the closets so the remediation company could remove carpet, dry baseboards, etc to prevent further damage.

Can’t speak highly enough about the service Closets by Design provided after their initial install and we encountered our water problems.

I had used Closets by Design 2 years ago to design and install custom shelves in my master closet. I recently had some water damage from a leak in my shower and had to replace half of the shelves in the closet. They were booked through the holidays but a cancelation occurred and they called me to see if I would like to be moved up. I accepted the offer and they came in and completed the job back to the original design all in the same day. The added bonus was that it was finished the day before Thanksgiving so we were able to utilize our closet and make room for family to come and not see the clutter from all of our clothes being out of the closet.

Closets By Design was fantastic! Jessy was our designer and the whole process was flawless. What I loved most is that she communicated often and keep us up to date through the whole process. We LOVE our design of the garage finish out and especially LOVE our new garage flooring. Our garage now feels like another room in our house. So awesome! Great job y’all!

I'm very pleased with my new cabinets for my office! They have transformed my office into a "designer" space that I'm looking forward to decorating with books and other artwork.

The two installers were also very respectful of my property as they moved the cabinets, tools, and equipment in and out of my home with care, and they wore shoe covers (at my request) and face masks. I appreciated all of this.

We got installed a wall to wall bookshelf and a desk with overhead cabinets. They are beautifully done! The installers were very professional, finished everything on time. The cabinetry seamlessly blend into the walls. We are very pleased with the work.

I used Closets by Design to modify an existing closet that they had installed. The quality is good and they were able to accomadate my wishes by removing several items and replacing them to match the existing design. They did not come completely prepared the first visit but quickly notified me of the issue. My only negative comment is the amount of time it took from the order to installation, But these days everything is backorderd.

From the initial sales process to the installation, Closets by Design executed perfectly. I could not be more pleased with the quality of the work and professionalism displayed by Closets by Design and when I’m ready for my master bedroom remodel, I know exactly who I’m going to call for the closet redesign.
