Mini vanilla cannoli was STALE. Tasted bad, was soggy. Now I have a stomach ache.
Rest of the stuff was also pretty below average. The Italian ricotta cheesecake was good though.
I went here thinking I'm getting a good cannoli. But what did they do? Hand me an old item that should've been thrown away. Is this how they've thrived all these years?
This is one of life's HAPPY PLACES I promise you! Just walk in & take a deep breath. The aromas alone will inspire amor! So treat yourself & be extra nice to the $taff. You might just earn a free cookie that's guaranteed to be doubley sweet.because it's a cookie & it's free!
Best pastry store ever I love their windmill chocolate cake it's so smooth and perfectly moist. You'll never have a bad pastry with them, even their strawberry short cake comes with actual strawberries within the cake itself and it taste like heaven.
Amazing pastries, atmosphere, staff, ect. Love this place so much! Can't believe that this place has been open for so long! Brings back so many good memories!
This place has really good pastries. The cheese cake is wonderful. The price is also very reasonable. Far less than some of other places that don’t taste nearly as good.
I went here for my anniversary 3 years ago, and I STILL talk about it. Cannolis were insane, but my favorite thing was the raspberry/chocolate mousse cheesecake. I still dream of it. Anyone even debating on going, should go. Super cool after dinner atmosphere that feels like old New York.
I asked if the whole cakes were made today and was told all of them are. So I purchased a whole strawberry shortcake. It tasted like its made 3 days ago.
Just took a bite of the cannoli, and wow. Legit an impressive cannoli. I’m thinking of opening a store nearby but it could be dangerous because I might eat there all the time.
Beautiful cozy warm atmosphere, under a beautiful stained glass ceiling. We had cappuccinos and lobster tails along with a Napoleon. The lobster tails were flaky and delicious, the Napoleon was a bit too sweet, but then again it was my fault for not knowing which Napoleon I was ordering. We picked up a 10 inch Tiramisu as well, and the family loved it! It was delicious. Definitely come in for a quick coffee and cake, won’t be disappointed.
I've been going here as long as I can remember for wonderful Italian baked goods, desserts, and coffees. Their cannoli are spectacular, all the cakes are fabulous - I had the zuppa inglese last time I went and it was divine - and you have to bring home a box of cookies or pastries, of course. They were also being totally responsible about checking vaccine status, so we were comfortable having our dessert indoors.
This place is super yummy the capuchino is delicious the pastries are the best and also the prices, this is one of my favorite places to go and enjoy a coffee ️ the staff are very friendly and helpful, you need to stop and try the delicious pastries and coffe. The cannoli is the best omg is so delicious
Great Selections of Italian Pasteries. Sitting inside is like being transported back to the 1980s - dim lighting from the beautiful stained glass (even at 9am with broad daylight outside) and walnut chairs and tables.
Birthday anyone? They sell whole cakes and pies at reasonable prices. Try a slice of their Rum cake. This is a favorite for weddings. Also, they have an array of Italian pastries from rainbow cookies to various types of biscotti. Go there on a Sunday morning for coffee and your favorite Italian pastry. Take home some of the pastries, too.
Ordered a vanilla lobster tail and a custard Baba and 1lb of assorted cookies. When the order arrived it came with a note saying they were out of the babacustard and lobster tails so, instead of calling and letting me know they took the liberty to give me a cannoli baba and a cream filled pastry (which was actually good) however my partner cannot stand cannoli filling. It’s definitely a huge difference from custard. Then there is the whole pound of disappointment that was boxed up and sent our way. The cookies! There is no way they were baked today! I’m not even sure they were baked this passed week. They not only taste old; they taste like they had be stuck in a refrigerator for a long time.
Things don't last more than a hundred years without good reason. In Los Angeles this place is a Porto's in New York we have Venieros. Beautiful stained glass ceilings huge giant crazy ridiculous selection of pastries to try good coffee. East Village is a fun place and this is definitely worth a stop
Best Pasticceria in New York! My parents brought home cakes & all sorts of deliciousness from Venieros since I was 5. More than 40 years later this is still my favorite place. The cakes & cookies are consistently delicious & fresh. I love that you can buy cake by the slice so I can have a few different ones to indulge in. The cafe is nice for a get together with friends & overall the staff are very friendly. I have introduced numerous coworkers who have also become frequent customers. Ti Amo Veniero's!
Reading the reviews we decided to try the place. We ordered a Napoleon and slice of mille-feuille. We were disappointed because the pastries were not fresh.
The best Italian pastry in the city I've been going there since I'm 5 years old and I still live in the neighborhood & it still tastes just like it did when my mother 1st took me there it's just so hard to resist
I have a lot of love for Veniero's. Grew up down the block so I've been coming here all my life. Today, though, an employee was rude and condescending to me and my friends, in a way that ruined the experience.
My friend asked a question, and this employee didn't answer. Instead he curtly replied, "Just tell me what you want. " I asked if they had the type of cookies they always have. The employee lifted up an empty bin behind him, showed it to me, slammed it down, and said, "No, I do not. " Then he scolded my friend for trying to pay the check, telling her to wait. I understand that it gets busy, but you should show basic respect for your customers. Just a shame.
This was one of the first places my father went to upon immigration to the United States. This place as well as the pastries they serve hold great sentimental value to my family.
The store is historic and will be beautifully decorated for whatever holiday/occasion it is in NYC.
The Oreo cheesecake was very good.
The vanilla gelato was buttery and rich…interesting.
The rainbow cookies were fresh and good but I’ve had better other Italian bakeries around New York City.
The Moscato Di Asti was sweet and refreshing.
The service was not hospitable in the dining area, and did not have “savoire-faire” to make me feel welcomed or encouraged to purchase additional items after our order.
My Sicilian relatives frequent this location on a regular basis. I do not live nearby enough to go out of my way here as I have many first generation Italian bakeries in Astoria but if I return, I would skip the dining room and buy items to go.
Why did I just now discover this paradise? !? !? It started with mini cheesecakes for a dinner party. OMG! I was so popular. Thank you. Bakery as personality enhancer. Next? The tarts of course.
Nice place and great food except for the service and quality. Checking out was confusing and a mess. Would not comeback or recommend for tourists. There are better bakeries out there worth checking out.: D
The day Veniero's shuts down is going to be a sad day for New York. This is hands down to best pasticceria in all of the northeastern corridor. Come and get a cappuccino and enjoy fresh cakes and authentic Italian pastries. This place will remind you of going to see your grandparents in the Bronx and having dessert on a Sunday evening. It's just simply fantastic.
Excellent pastries. Horrible service. The person in charge of handling the cake orders patronized and insulted my girlfriend. Additionally, he offered no assistance and was nonchalant about the cake missing the decorative writing she already paid for. Douchebag.
Priding NY for many decades with delicious Italian baked treats. Everything is baked fresh daily on site! Cakes, pastries, pies, cannolis and my favorite mini fruit custard tarts are scrumptious. Open until 11pm on weekends for the late night cravings.
The NY style cheesecake is the best anywhere. Not too sweet or with anything to detract from the cheesecake experience. Anyone who says it's better elsewhere is simply wrong.
The other pastries are superlative as well. And the cannoli kits are well worth it if you're not local.
I love everything about Venieros. From the stained glass, to the coffee drinks, to the amazing desserts. Classic italian desserts in a cozy atmosphere.
This place needs several visits, they have a wide selection of traditional and original desserts. You walk up to the counter where the staff will take your order and you pay at end of the counter. The butter cookies were just like grandma makes them and the custard tarts were so light and yummy, not overwhelming or too sweet at all.
I had four items to-go. Loved the carrot cake slice & millefoglia. Liked the cheesecake slice. Felt so-so on the cannoli, as the shell was slightly soggy.
I went here expecting a yummy pastry but i got food poisoning instead. I got a cheesecake which was delicious but the consequences of that was being glued to my toilet for hours. It was the worst day of my life. If you want a free ride to the toilet then this is a great place for you, but if you want to enjoy yourself, don't come here.
