They overcharge and tip themselves if you use card to pay. I ended up paying $20 more than we agreed. When I called back, they just didn’t answer

The barber hooked me up with a great face shave. It was quick, enjoyable, and my face felt and looked great after. Normally my skin gets pretty annoyed when shaved but this left my face happy.

They ripped my wife off. They actually told her there was a $5 up charge for a skin fade when everyone knows all fades are the same no matter how short. She took my 3 boys. I felt they took advantage because she didn’t know better but I’ll never let her take them back again!

Been going to Steve for many, many years. Goes out of his way to squeeze me in with my hectic schedule. Maintains a friendly, laid-back atmosphere while remaining very professional. Very clear communication; finds a way to do exactly what I'm wanting while encouraging me try out new stuff. Always the freshest cuts. Highly, highly recommend; won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love the esthetic of the shop. They all do really amazing work! My boyfriend gets his cuts by Steve aka Esteban, who does an amazing job keeping my mans beard nicely groomed, just the way I like it!

I gotta give a shout out to my man, Steve I recently lost my barber for 10 years because he moved to Florida. I was nervous about my haircut, but Steve gave me exactly what I asked for and even suggested a couple adjustments, I’ve gotten so many compliments with the new hairstyle I had to leave a review! If you like fifty dollar hair cuts as a man, then this is the place for you. Me, personally, have never paid more than twenty bucks for a haircut. This was more a sculpting than a haircut and more a salon than a barbershop. My "barber" Roe did a fantastic job all said and done.

Best barbershop on the island. They also sell beard/hair products and provide services like eyebrows and facials.

True Gents is the perfect place for my stepson to get a haircut! The owners and other barbers are professional and knowledgeable and don’t disappoint! I’d recommend them to anyone and everyone! We’ve been going here since before Covid and will continue to have Dana cut his hair. We love True Gents so much that we travel 25 minutes from the south shore.

True Gents Barbershop is truly a neighborhood barber shop. Young/ old/ kids and families I’ve seen getting cut here. Ive been going to the shop for around 2 years and always deal with Dana. She’s one of the owners there and she’s always pleasant to deal with. Gives a great cut! Ive seen her calm down kids that did not want to get their hair cut and by the time the haircut was finished they didn’t want to leave her side.
The other barbers at the shop I haven’t had a cut by but all are really nice guys and all have a huge repeat customer base (basically know all the clients by first name) and every cut I have seen them do comes out very sharp! They do walk ins but as in every barber shop it’s easier to make an appointment, saves everyone time. So overall a great local shop with a huge local neighborhood base and give quality haircuts. The place holds up to its name, TRUE GENTS!

True gents barbershop always gives my husband and son a great cut, the experience is always professional and accommodating. The vibe and atmosphere is always cool, the shop is always super clean and sanitary I would def recommend you heading here if your looking for a new shop

This place is an amazing low key spot. The owners are extremely friendly and great barbers also. I’ve been going here for a couple years now and they keep getting better. Go check out Dana and Nick for the freshies!

I love this barber shop! Im not usually the one to go far to do normal things but Ill drive all the way out to Staten Island from Queens just to get cut here. My girl Dana always makes me look segsy and handsome. Just wish I could go more often.

Grateful I found this shop. Usually go to Nick who fades my hair and lines me up perfectly which is actually a feat being that I have a cowlick in the front of my hair and it’s hard to cut around. There’s been times that he wasn’t in so I’ve gone to a couple of other barbers there. Dana is a pro. All of them give the cleanest fades and know how to style hair. Definitely my go to barber shop 100% recommend

I Called to make an appointment, and it’s my mistake for now researching who to go to. But the guy who answers the phone, his name is Carlos, Carlos will refer you to Carlos for your appointment. Don’t go to Carlos, the first chair, obviously a rookie. My hairline is messed up for the next 3 weeks thanks to Carlos. During my haircut he kept answering the barbershop phone referring every customer to himself. Don’t go to Carlos! He’s not a veteran barber and it shops.

Honestly one of the best experiences i’ve had in a barbershop.the barber with all the tattoos, i think his name was nick? If i’m correct.great haircut.super entertaining also because he told me a ton of stories and very inteligent.he also have me a nice neck massage and after a whole day of just crushing the gym man that massage felt great.offered a foot massage but that’s just not my thing.great place great service

The owners are both fantastic barbers and professionals. I’ve been going since I was a kid and still go every time I need a cut. I’ve never left the shop disappointed. Rohaiz is who I go to now and he always pays a lot of attention to what you want and does a great job. Everyone in there is friendly and the environment is great. 10/10 to anyone considering this place.

I really wanted this to be a good review because this barbershop is right next to my house. But when I went in and got a cut, I didn't want to sound disrespect, I asked the barber what style I wanted, guided him along the way, but the final product was literally horrible. I don't know who cut my hair, it was a young man. Sorry

Returning here after moving away & switching barber shops. Very clean, masks & gloves worn by staff & customers. My new guy Joe did an excellent job on my head. $30 is more than I'm used to paying but I guess that's the going rate in a pandemic world. I'm glad they stayed open all these years (I remember when they opened) and I miss my original guy John but I like the place, it's close to my new house, and they do good work!

The reviews here are true. We didn’t make an appointment because the last time I used this app with another barbershop and it was closed. So we walked in to TrueGents and Dana greeted us. Dana cut my 3 year old’s hair with no hesitation and was great with him. She made jokes with him and he’s usually scared of barbers but looked really comfortable with Dana. I think we found our barber for him. The barbershop is modern and super dope looking inside. An added plus is they’re about 6 minutes away from my house. Thanks again.

I decided to try this place out because my usual barbershop is currently closed due to COVID.

I asked the guy cutting my hair for a high skin fade and just a trim on top. He then spent the next 45 minutes attempting a fade, the end result was subpar at best.

I told him i wanted the top cut short and he proceeded to run the scissors through my hair roughly 8 to ten times. He then asked me is that is all for today? I looked in the mirror in total disbelief because my hair was so completely uneven.

I told him it was uneven and he tried again.
After several more poor attempts to cut my hair evenly i just asked him to run the clippers through my hair, which is not what i wanted but had no other choice.

I proceeded to pay the $30 for my horrendous haircut. I’m usually a very generous person but i was so truly disgusted that i walked out without leaving a tip.

From there i went home and stared in the mirror and was still appalled by how uneven and bad my haircut looked. I finally made the decision and took my own clippers out and cut it even shorter to even the top out.

I normally do not like leaving bad reviews for a business, especially during these difficult times but this was by far the worst hair cutting experience i have ever had

Also, i would just like to make it very clear that this is a review for the barber i had and not the overall establishment. I am sure there are very skilled barbers that work there. I just happened to get someone who seemed quite new and very inexperienced. I never got his name but he looks like he is about 20 years old and was working on the right hand side of the shop.

I've never been here but am a huge fan of Jeff Wittek! Live less than 2 miles away so hope to stop by soon!

Great people, and always a great cut. And Nick shapes my beard perfectly (I try to replicate it at home, but I can't)
