Five stars all the way, the only drawback was that the portions were on the small side; but with many of us overweight this is not an issue.

Food, service and atmosphere were average but definitely not worth the $195 per person. Save your money and go somewhere else

A very special restaurant. Divine food and wines, in the most stunning location ever. Prepare to have your taste byds tantalised with every bite. That's what this restaurant is all about. The flavour combinations are insanely delicious, yet the menu is quite traditional in style. The view over the Hudson to Manhatten is astounding. I recommend getting there in daylight so you can watch the sunset over The Statue Liberty in the distance. Absolutely blown away with this place!

Recalling the day we proposed at River Cafe, we flew from Taiwan to New York for our birthday, and we took the opportunity to propose to our girlfriend.

I entrusted the concierge of the Hilton Hotel to help me with the restaurant, and also expressed that I wanted to propose to my girlfriend. I originally asked if there was a seat by the window and by the river that could be reserved, but later they were told that it was full, so after arriving at the restaurant, I was lucky enough to be arranged There was a European couple sitting next to the window, and we chatted with them for a while. Later, they left early and asked the waiter if they could give us a seat. Later, we were able to sit by the window smoothly in the evening.

Just as I was finishing dinner, I picked up my phone and started recording my girlfriend. I was about to record the proposal process. I was asking my girlfriend (now my wife), who we had been dating for a while, if she wanted to go further. At the same time, a waiter came over and interrupted. We said: are you finish? I was very surprised at the time and took away our plates. During the second video recording, the bill came again and asked for payment. I also asked: Do I have to do this now? ?

Very impolite service. I suggest that if you have such an important matter, please do not choose such a restaurant. I am an international brand consultant and have stayed in five-star hotels. Such service quality is really not worth coming here to celebrate a birthday. In addition, when we propose marriage, we are constantly disturbed and interrupted. It is really ridiculous. Are we Taiwanese and not white people treating us so rudely? It's extremely rude, no matter how tough a New Yorker is, it shouldn't be used at a moment like this.

While I was in the midst of asking her (now my wife) about our relationship and her future plans, a waiter approached us abruptly and said, "Are you finished? " I was taken aback at the time, and he immediately collected our plates. Then, when I attempted to record the second part of the video, he brought the bill and insisted that we pay. I even asked, "Do I have to do this right now? "

The service was extremely rude, and I would advise everyone to avoid choosing such a restaurant for important occasions. I work as an international brand consultant and have also worked in five-star hotels, and I can confidently say that the quality of service here is not worth the expense. Celebrating a birthday and proposing, yet constantly being interrupted and bothered, was truly frustrating. It's disappointing that we were treated so discourteously, and it's essential to treat people with respect, regardless of their nationality. Even in a bustling city like New York, such behavior should not be tolerated during such special moments.

The best swordfish I have ever eaten in my life. That is all you need to know. I am a Floridian and have eaten it many times. Try it, you wont be sorry -

Just a awesome experience, not for the faint of heart $ wise but really a great experience

The location and overall atmosphere is incredible. The food is beyond delicious and one can clearly understand why this restaurant received a Michelin star. However, the only issue I had became service, but after addressing the issue with the staff everything became remedied and the night went very well.

I had my wedding at The River Café and it exceeded by expectations. The food was phenomenal and the service was even better. My guests felt well taken care of and they said it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Alyson was always easy to reach during the planning process and was helpful in answering all of our questions. It was really one of the best nights of my life.

A rare, magical experience that lives up to the accolades— lovely and unpretentious service, extraordinary food, and warm, wonderful sense of occasion. And I haven’t even mentioned the resplendent view. Loved it!

Another good experience at River Cafe. Service is better. Food is good as usual except the octopus was too salty but cooked perfectly. The view is nice after sunset.

Prix fixe meal - makes for a wonderful -to-be -shared tasting adventure for our group
Choices are plentiful.although - with foams, ganache, whipped, and other gastronomic styles- difficult to really know what is being served.
The Brooklyn Bridge chocolate dessert was a nice manner to end the meal
Our waiter, Robbie, was really nice but all the staff members were attentive.
Bravo to keeping a well- run restaurant- truly a place to visit if in NYC

If I could give -1 stars I would. I was “greeted” and I use the term lightly by a hostess who promptly informed my partner and I that the meal would $195. We both advised that would be no problem and the woman went to fetch a “supervisor” who shot a look at our melanated body and paced into our vision through the glassed door with pursed lips. The supervisor then gave a partial glance at a screen and informed us the next reservation would be at 2000 (0800 pm). We both smiled and exited the building only to find there was a reservation in 15 minutes. We both were left gobsmacked that a restaurant would be so quick to write off two women who were just trying to find a warm place to eat. We have thankfully found a warm restaurant next door at a lovely rooftop that I highly recommend to everyone in the surrounding neighborhood. It’s called Harriet’s Brooklyn bridge. The food was Devine and there was no racism in sight. 10/10.

Ambience and location is just epic. Highly recommend the hot foie gras, yellowtail to start. The duck is great but the lobster is fantastic. Soufflé to finish.

Very disappointing experience. The River Cafe's arrogant, inattentive staff ruined our right- my wife's Birthday. The evening started off well, but ended terribly. Our server felt that one bottle of wine over the course of our meal was too much, so he decided to totally ignore us when we ordered another. When we asked about the delay, he pedantically encouraged us to "have some food, and then we'll see". See what? So there we sat for another 20 minutes waiting for our wine and our food, while the waiter flitted around to other tables and literally ignored every gesture i to garner his attention. I guess the 3rd order of bread and butter the busboy delivered was a hint - either way, when the food finally arrived, my wife's steak (which was ordered medium) arrived practically raw and purple the middle - cold and undercooked My venison was the opposite- - - bit dry and overdone. And it's side.the "green pea soaetzel" was dry, bland, and lacking any pizazz. I've had better spaetzel at Loreley. To make matters worse, not one server made the effort to check in with us to ask if the feed was to our linking - which it was not. Furthermore, the after we finished the meal, the staff continued to ignore us, so our plates sat there until l had to hunt down a busboy and demand that our plates be removed. At that point, the even more haughty maitr'e d came over and stated he was taking over and asked if he might help with "the problem". I asked him if it was customary for his staff to ignore their tables, not check in after the main course was delivered, and further if thebusboys usually let empty plates sit on the table for an extended period of time? I then asked him if the chunk of purple meat on my wife's plate appeared to be "medium"? He agreed it did not, offered a sheepish apology. At that point, we asked for the check and passed on our dessert. Dessert was supposed.to arrive with a birthday cable for my wife, but unfortunately the RC staff had succeeded in ruining the entire evening.

All in all, if one is looking for a Michelin star rated restaurant and willing to spend $200+ per person, there are far better choices in Manhattan. Not to mention the interior is very tired and old. The outside, sure it's quaint on the water, etc - but absolutely not worth the price of admission. Won't repeat.

The River Café, not to be trite, is just special. Food is creative, fresh, interesting, and delicious. The service is impeccable, and the atmosphere is sublime. Unhurried, soft, magical experience. Worth the price of admission and then some. Sip a drink on the patio on the East River and feel New York. Wonderful.

I had the most wonderful time at the river cafe all thanks to Amanda for making my night extra special. I went to celebrate my birthday here by myself and I didn’t feel anything was missed. Amanda made sure I had a good time and when the cake came she made sure I was treated well. She always checked in on me throughout my time there and I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The service was great overall from everyone else and Amanda especially also helped me make some lovely memories with that I will never forget. Thank you
