The doctors/nurses here have great bedside manner and are very kind BUT as you can tell from numerous other reviews, this office has a serious problem with wait times. Expect to wait over an hour to see your provider, or for your provider to not be able to see you at all when you show up and have to reschedule, without explanation. I’m not sure if this office intentionally overbooks patients or is severely understaffed but they need to figure out a way to fix this issue. The front desk even seem visibly overwhelmed at times.

I have had positive experiences at the Dermatology Specialist Office on the Upper West Side and never experienced such long wait times there. Only book at this location if you have to be seen here, otherwise try one of the smaller locations so you can avoid this problem.

This practice is very nice. Everyone at the office is kind and helpful and competent. Dr Nia is a terrific doctor. He made my surgery simple and he was and being his patient was a smart decision on my part!

Overall Bad Experience. Wasted $250, required payment just for doc consultation.

Front Desk employee was just bad. No Hi, Hello or even a smile. Seemed irritated with something and projected that bad energy to patients and anyone coming in.

Doctor was there for less than 5 mins to answer questions. Doc Misquoted the procedures recommended.

Afterwards, the assistant wrongly explained the payment process on multiple occasions, about how one needs to make the payment, when and the percentage breakdown.

Lost trust right away with all the aforementioned miscommunication, bad explanation and bad energy. I was requested to sign another form to confirm the quote that was misquoted, declined respectfully.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

My experience was a breath of hope after going to many locations & seeing many dermatologist & being told many things which does not work. I said finally an individual I feel at ease with, who took the time to give me an inform body scan, along with tips of what to apply on my sensitive skin made a real significant difference for me! I appreciate and thank PAC Grace Jarrett for her kindness as well as her sweet assistant!

The space is awesome, the doctors and assistants have great bedside manner. They truly listen to your concerns and search for solutions.

Unfortunately, the office is a mess. I didn't want to write this review but here we are.

I'm beginning Isotretinoin, which requires monthly pregnancy tests + monthly email pledges to IPledge safety program. 8 days ago I took my first pregancy test so I could begin on Isotretinoin, but the office did not sign me up for IPledge because the doctor did not sign a consent form (after telling me I should go on it). I called the office multiple times since my appointment and kept getting the runaround, everything from "you'll receive an update today" to "the doctor hasn't been in" to "the doctor has been busy, but we're prioritizing this" all in the same call. I wouldn't be this pressed except that I can't start this medication until I get signed up for IPledge, and if I miss the 30 day window since the pregnancy test, I need to start again from the beginning. I don't feel the need to pay another copay for another assesment because the office made a mistake. It's been an extremely frustrating experience.

It's disorganized and hard to get a straight answer. Cool vibes of the space do not make up for the absolute chase they sent me on to get information on my medication. I'm still waiting for an update as I write this review.

Believe the bad reviews. Booked a doctor and they switched my appointment to a nurse. Nurse gave me wrong diagnosis which I'm fixing six months later. Asked for prescription to be sent to CVS, they sent it to Apothecary which held my prescription hostage for several days asking for full price (I'm sure they give TDS kickbacks). They make you sign sketchy waivers on the spot. My insurance (0 copay, 0 OOP costs) paid in full, yet their billing department sent me a surprise bill. They tried/failed to charge my insurance for procedures I didn't have (it was a 10 minute lookover consultation) and came after me instead.

I'm a fully-insured Medicare patient and it takes a special type of scum to come after vulnerable Medicare/Medicaid populations. If you're like me, tell them to only speak through your insurance. Do not answer any communication. CC CEO Bobby Buka on all communication (including Mt Sinai where he also works). Alert the Attorney General's office. Remember, you can report them for public fraud, and alert medical boards, ethics boards, get the Post, Daily News, and NY Times on this. Know your rights.

Dr. Nia is a fantastic surgeon. He did an amazing job on a scar revision and has great bedside manner. Highly recommend!

Desma is amazing and super talented. I’ve had hundreds of facials and rarely do I get what I need out of them. Desma is knowledgeable, skilled and kind. I highly recommend her to anyone with problem skin.

Had a great appointment with Dr Peranteau. He spent a lot of time with me, patiently explaining the diagnosis and treatment options. He’s very amiable and has a good warm vibe. I’ve been to many dermatologists in my adult life, and Dr Peranteau is the best of the best!

Good people. Appointment times accurate. Straight to the point. In and out just how appointments should be very pleased with my experience.

My second visit today. Excellent front desk. Dermatologist Dr Margot Chima is very kind and knowledgeable. It is an honor and pleasure to be treated by her. Visit the center and you will be pleased by your decision!

I have experienced quality medical care at this practice for the past 15 months. Everyone from reception to the doctor are professional and respectful of each individual. I am treated by Dr. Peranteau whose bedside manner is very kind, caring and knowledgeable! Happy to be cared for here.

Went there for a mole and from the moment I walked in the receptionists were extremely helpful and respectful as was the M. A.and the Dr. Turns out its just an agespot and a wart.great job highly recommend them.

Dr. Perantyau was really kind and talked through the process with me and made me feel very comfortable and like I was in good hands. Would refer friends and family to him and will be coming back for follow up.

The 1st time I went to have a procedure done, I was sooo nervous that I wasn’t sure if I would be able to continue, but as time went on, I was assured that everything would be A OK. It was. The Entire team are awesome. They make sure you are ok. Make you as comfortable as possible. I Recommend this place.

Incredible place. Everyone is very professional and friendly, and made me feel very comfortable. I had visited several other doctors before coming here, all without success. However here is different. Dr. Peranteau is awesome:) he diagnosed my issue quickly and successfully treated me:) and for the first time in almost two years I've had significant improvement. Very grateful for everyone here. Very highly recommend:)

The faculties and doctors are pleasant but they will bill you incorrectly/egregiously and leave you to deal with it. You will get a $150 minimum office charge regardless of visit type and insurance won't cover. The type of appointment, annual skin check should be covered by insurance yet you will still have this out of pocket charge because of their dishonest billing practices. Additionally, most recently they billed me for services in 2018,3 years later and admitted to not billing for these charges until 2021 when I visited again but still left me to deal with issue. Billing team rude and not accommodating. Ask upfront about the office charges, expect they will charge you for services not covered by insurance, and be prepared for bills 3 years later.

This place was awesome. I went in for a removal of a Pilar cyst on my scalp and they made me feel so comfortable. They spoke to me the entire time through my procedure, and it went by really fast. I felt no pain at all. They are very professional, clean and friendly. Definitely will recommend to anyone.

Dr Andrew was amazing. So were the two nurses, the receptionist.it's my second visit there - I've never received better care and service anywhere else in NYC! They all make you feel in the best hands. Thank you all!

Dr. Hashim & his team went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable during my procedures and follow ups. Scheduling appointments was easy and stress free. I would highly recommend Dr. Hashim & his team.

When I say this place is FABULOUS, I mean absolutely FABULOUS! We first came to Dr. Buka for our two year old son, and everyone in the whole office was soooooo nice, and Dr. Buka himself was just amazing and thorough, he was so good with our two year old son! I can’t recommend this place enough! I was so happy I even got some Botox because I’ve wanted to for a while for this angry line between my eyebrows where I keep my stress, but I’ve always been nervous…but everyone who works there is so professional and nice, I was like…just do it, already! …And I’m so happy I did!

I made an appointment for my teenage son for his acne. We originally had an appointment at the Seaport location but we were unable to be seen because the doctor that day didn't accept our insurance. It was too bad because the office was beautiful. Fortunately, Emerald was able to make us an appointment at the Greenwich location right away. That office is just as beautiful as the Seaport office. The staff was helpful & courteous with a registration hiccup I had. We didn't wait too long to be seen. The medical staff was so great at letting my son & I know what's going on and how to treat his acne and other skin condition. And the fact that they hooked us up with a pharmacy that delivers all the way to Brooklyn was the cherry on top. I'm going to make an appointment for myself for a long overdue mole patrol.

Friendly doctor but no idea why she didn't do a excisional biopsy at first. It was a small lesion but I had to go there twice to remove the rest 1/4 of the mole, which doubled the healing time, anxiety level and money and cost me $400 instead of $200 even though the front desk told me preventive care should be covered by my insurance.

Dr Peranteau is attentive and kind and I am really glad I have found a dermatologist like this! The front desk people are so nice, and the office itself has all kinds of cool art. Would def recommend.

Beware of this practice. The doctor promised that the procedure takes 2 sittings. However the doctor missed several spots in the second visit. When I contacted the office they said that they would take care of it so I went for the 3rd visit which shouldn't have been charged. But they charged me for the 3rd visit. It is a big rip off. Contacted billing supervisor, but she kept on insisting that I pay the bill.

It’s my follow visit today and had again another awesome, wonderful and most great service experienced from the lobby and scheduler of appointments to Dr. Andrew. Another high five and exemplary performance with detailed, narrative information I got from the test. Ambiance wise, the clinic is very neat and tidy. Would highly recommend. Kudos…

My family has been going to the Brooklyn location for years; we love Dr. Choudhury and company. Unfortunately once they merged with the larger chain, there have been a lot of scheduling issues and very long waiting times. Hopefully these will get ironed out soon. Also worth noting that the West Village location is the least doctor officey place I’ve ever seen - the waiting room is more like someone’s carefully curated living room.

Let’s just start by saying physician Asmi Sanghvi has got to be the most incompetent dermatologist I’ve ever seen. I had an appointment as a new patient. I told her about my history with rosacea. She didn’t even bother to take a look at my skin. Only to ask me what I had been prescribed in the past. And just prescribes me a completely different topical moisturizer that turned out to be $600. What a joke. She literally walked into the room asked 1 question. Hands me a sheet with information on rosacea, prescribes me some absurd cream and leaves the room. Her assistant was way more efficient and helpful then she was. Also the young ladies at the front desk very nice and helpful. BUT! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! If there were an option to leave ZERO stars I would have.

This practice is very hot or miss. The UWS location seems to be run in a very efficient manner and most appointments I’ve had there are on time, but this is definitely not the case at the Sullivan Street location.

After twenty minutes of waiting past the time my appointment should have started, and my Doctor no where in sight, none of the front desk staff could offer any insight as to where the Doctor was or when my appointment would start.

I ended up having to leave and calling my credit card company to be refunded my co-pay.

The most overpriced dermatologist office I’ve ever been too. I will never come back. Since visiting, I’ve had the same procedure done at multiple offices throughout NYC for a fraction of the price. I wish I could give zero stars

Once again they dunned me for a paid bill. Beware. Too bad the doctors are wonderful but they must know that the billing department is incompetent. As an update they sent me to collection for a bill that my insurance company actually overpaid 3 years ago! I have reported them to the news stations and the attorney general.

Honestly, the nurse was wonderful, but everyone else treated me like an afterthought! The doctor was the worst, she acted as though something I was terrified about wasn't even worth 2minutes of her time. She spent more talking to the nurse about random things than to me about what's going on with my skin.

I never been to dermatologist in my life this was my first time. They were so professional and the lady on desk was sa nice. The doctor was so professional, she order a prescription for me before the chemical peel. I’m so happy I went there. Their a lady there omg she so nice I’m so happy she is the one who take me when I’m there. ️️

I’ve been to several locations and the staff never disappoints (except one time when I called for an appointment and the woman just hung up on me with an attitude). The doctors are skilled, always helpful. Four star because of the wait time anytime I go. There’s always at least 15-20mins wait to see the doctor, one time it was over an hour. But overall I can only recommend them.
The biggest issue at this location are the ladies at the front. Attitude 24/7, it doesn’t matter what time you call or whenever you get there no hello or anything. I said hello, she was like you have an appointment, I’m like yes I told her the time and she didn’t say anything, I’m just standing there waiting for an answer while she’s looking at her computer. I didn’t know if she checked me in
already or needed any information from me or what was going on. Thank God for the nice doctor (Jared P) I been going to for months now and the lovely nurse. They saved the day as always. I go every Friday, so maybe if you want to avoid the attitude, try to go another day. Also, I needed a new referral. They let me know less than 24hrs ahead. It was out of my knowledge that I needed a new one and the lady told me if I was not gonna have one, then not to come. You not doing your job and you telling me not to come? ! They were not helpful at all and remind you, that Ive been going to dr Buka’s offices for years. I don’t think they can top this! They definitely need new front desk ladies if they not changing their attitudes.

Medical care was very good.
Dealing with referral by fax, scheduling appointment and overall communication with administrative staff was a bit cumbersome. Phone rep asked me which of your fax numbers my doctors office used. I didn't know that your office had multiple fax numbers let alone which one of them my doctor used. With email and text, I hadn't sent a fax in over 5 years.
According to reception desk at Sullivan st, my faxed referral which was confirmed as received the day before my appointment, had not been attached to my computer chart. Fortunately I had a hard copy of my referral with me. I told reception desk that according to phone rep I couldn't have made the appointment in the first place had I not provided a faxed referral in advance. To have her tell me that it wasn't there, was a tad annoying. Phone and in person staff didn't appear to be congruent on policy and procedures.

Went in the office in the Greenwich Village to book a first appointment, and Aisha at the front desk was amazing, was very warm, did everything very quickly and even managed to fit me in to get seen straight away!
The doctor was very thorough during my visit, answered all my questions and was even kind enough to check what my insurance covered before recommending some treatments.

Dr.heaton is a superb dr.hes kind, knowledgeable about what hes doing and an over all great guy! He removed a skin cancer that was tiny.he made this huge incision and I complained how big it was.that was 3 months ago and i can barely see it! He knows what hes doing! I highly recommend not only henry but everyone at the dermatology group is fantastic.

Waste of my time. After confirming my appointment and finding the instructions for the video appointment confusing, I had to call to learn that they do not accept Medicaid. Which is odd as I was looking for dermatologist who do accept that insurance and thats how I found them. They claimed to have left a voicemail which does not exist. On to the next one I suppose.

Bad customer experience at check in and waited 45 minutes both times. Called in before to verify if my insurance was accepted and it was but when I came in for a Saturday appointment they said my insurance was not valid. I had to return 10 days later. There is also no transparency in how much it would cost me - ended up paying close to $300 out of pocket. On top of all this, they sent my bill to the wrong address and managed to only call me for the bill 1 year later.proceed with caution!

This is the best dermatologist office in NYC. Everyone is conversational and makes you feel so comfortable about anything from appointments to cosmetic procedures. They have the best staff and the doctors are so knowledgeable! The office has a great ambiance and isn’t the typical sterile, stuffy place that has plastic coverings on their chairs. The location is easy to get to since it’s right next to Washington Sq Park. I have nothing but praises for this place. Go here for all of your dermatology needs!
