The Capital Grille

Maybe I didn’t order the right dish. I know the place is known for steaks but I was in the mood for a salad and ordered Cobb salad with tenderloin slices. The meat was absolutely amazing, and cooked tomperfection. But the salad itself was neither fresh nor tasty. Bland and unsalted cooked haha, the tomatoes tasted like from an Eastern European hothouse, and the dressing f wasn’t detectable. The French Onion soup before was ok. The broth again delicious, but then the roasted bread on top a dark bread instead of baguette- way too heavy, and so was the cheese. Again, probably just my fault for ordering the wrong dish. Service was wonderful, everyone seemed very nice and helpful.

The food is spectacular here at the Capital Grille. There so many delicious dishes to choose from appetizer and your main Course and so many desserts to Choose I highly recommend this Restaurant. So everyone happy Thanksgiving an stay safe.

The food didn't sit well with me but otherwise not bad. There's parking but hard to get a spot. It's where you get a business lunch, everyone's dressed like their.in the office.

Prices are what you'd expect for a business restaurant.

Dined here for an early dinner during my birthday weekend and was greeted by a kind and attentive hostess. The ambiance was charming and the service staff did an excellent job at ensuring that we had an outstanding dining experience. I had the roasted chicken and parmesan risotto- a great dish that I would recommend for those who don't eat red meat. On the side, I also thoroughly enjoyed their lobster mac 'n' cheese and parmesan truffle fries. I loved the celebratory birthday details and look forward to returning!

Probably one of the worst meals we ever had. Steak was raw. Service was understaffed, sent back 2 dishes. Really disappointing.

Always a fabulous dinner, but we celebrated our anniversary here this year and service was beyond amazing to make our dinner extra special.

We love this restaurant; you don't really need a reservation, the atmosphere is great, and the cocktails and food are amazing. Highlights of the menu are the crab cakes and cheesecake; the bread is really good too.

I go to the Capital Grille in Garden City every once in a while and I've been to this location before about 15 years ago when I was an intern in the building in front of the restaurant. I walked in alone without a reservation last night (Saturday) and I didn't realize the kitchen was about to close. The very nice gentleman at the door accommodated me and led me to my table.
The server was extremely nice, professional and knowledgeable. Every single staff member I've interacted with was really really nice. I had a great experience.
Then the food. It was the best ribeye steak I've ever had in my life. Perfectly cooked medium rare, so juicy, well seasoned and extra tender. I really really enjoyed it. I've also ordered mashed potatoes, also amazing.
Thank you for accommodating me for walking in almost at closing time and for such a great experience. I can't wait to bring my mother to this restaurant when she can finally fly in from Europe.

Have been here a bunch of times over the years, was walking home from client meeting and area and had to use restroom but was rejected. Customers only. First time ever that I've had this happen in nYC. No humanity

I've been to their Boston and Bryant Park NYC locations, a few years apart, and their quality simply does not go down. Their Ribeye and Filet Mignon cuts are phenomenal. They offer takeout since the pandemic, which brings great value for the meat you get.

We celebrated my mother-in-law's 70th birthday and it was a lovely experience. The food was good and Jacob, our server, was awesome! 5 - star experience! (They ask for photo ID & proof of vaccination upon entry; however, they do offer outdoor dining. Not sure if outdoor dining requires vaccination or not)

My first time going here and I must say the food was incredible. The steak was prepared perfectly and the service was very professional.

I went there a few weeks ago to celebrate a birthday for that same individual as a prior review (a very fortunate individual). We were a large party and reserved the wine vault which was a wonderful experience. The service was impeccable, and despite being completely secluded from the rest of the dining hall our servers never missed a beat. The food was wonderfully cooked, the seafood tower was impressive, and the drinks were fantastic. Ultimately, it’s the service that stands out and I will certainly revisit this location.

The food was absolutely excellent! I ordered the boneless Ribeye and it was perfectly cooked and well seasoned, extremely flavorful. Truffle fries and Cream of Spinach were also 10/10 - the food overall is of the highest quality and taste.

Their Moscow Mule was also a perfect combination of tasty and strong which is how drinks should be. Service was good. Overall 5 stars - would definitely return.

Don't get me wrong the restaurant is beautiful and the food was good. The problem was they are on the restaurant week website claiming to be participating. The waiter made it very clear they were listed as participating but not really participating was his words. I don't think you should be misleading customers like that

This place was really nice but more importantly the food was delicious. Unfortunately even with a reservation there was a slight wait. I would have given it a 5 but the wait with a combination of lack of courtesy i lowered it to a 4. Our waiter was amazing, he really changed our mood, down to earth kind of guy and really funny so kudos to him. Since we went for a birthday lunch, they had decorated the table with confetti and brought out dessert for her so it was really nice. As for the main entree, I ordered a ribeye, my husband old age steak and my daughter chicken fingers. Everything was just cooked to perfection and my daughter enjoyed it which was great.

First visit was for a company event about 2 years ago. I recently stopped in for lunch and nothing has changed. Still one of the greatest! The steak was juicy, tender and loaded with flavor. Texture of mash potatoes was spectacular. Wine paired perfectly. My 2nd visit was for a quick lunch. I ordered the seared salmon complete perfection and perfect presentation.

This is the best Capital Grille in all of NYC. The service is always stellar and the food is always excellent. We are fans of the “Dirty Goose” Martini and the Surf/Turf and they have always been consistent on every visit. If you are in the city, this is the Capital Grille to visit.

Everyone was awestruck and mesmerized by the place, and the food served was delicious. We were all enjoying our meals and the moment.

The staff was accommodating and attentive. It felt classy without feeling pretentious. The mashed potatoes were absolutely next level. As soon as my fork went in for a scoop I could tell something different was about to happen. Best mashed potatoes I've ever had in my life. Highly recommend this spot.

Good to be back. As always, the food was great and the service impeccable. Looking forward to the next visit. I was glad to see a lot of fellow diners. All COVID protocols scrupulously observed.

Always an amazing culinary experience. We love their steady menu, their excellent service and their sommelier, Paul. COVID or no COVID, Capital Grille rocks.

Capital Grille gives diners a first class experience. The staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and just the right level of attentive. The dining room is elegant, with a lot of wood, plus a large skylight. Of course, the food is what really matters. Steaks are scrumptious and cooked perfectly. Appetizers and sides are very good. Order them to share; they are sized for two. Count on a good wine, too.

Menu prices are not cheap, but they are fair.

The Capital Grille at 155 Esst 42nd Street is down the block from the Chrysler building, and the are serving outside dining now between the hours of 12 and 8 pm. The set up is quite nice, eating lunch on 42nd Street under reflective patio Umbrellas, the sun do not break through the patio umbrellas.

The Capital Grille now have outside dining from 12 noon çc Went to the Capital Grille for my sister's birthday/retirement dinner on Sunday, and mom and sis's family was in attendance.

The Capital Grille is my favorite restaurant in Midtown Manhattan for the food and the service.

We were a party of 8, and everyone had their tastebuds to satisfy. So we basically shared tons of stuff, from the appetizers to the desserts.

The Lobster Bisque and the French Onion Soup was excellent. The appetizers was equally good.

The Lobster and Crab Cakes along with the Cold Lump Crab Cocktail was excellent.

Several different cuts of steaks was ordered, and they were cooked to perfection. The Lamp Chops was tender and moist, but the Sea Bass was a little salty. However, the Capital Grille took the time and attention to correct the situation without us having to ask.

The service was extremely attentive, and the waitress served everything with a friendly polite smile.

The Capital Grille received an A rating from the NYC Dept.of Health.

Absolutely amazing experience there for our anniversary dinner over the weekend. Walked in and the woman at the front greeted us and wanted to make sure I was well accommodated since I am pregnant. The table was decorated with confetti and everyone who came to our table greeted us with a happy anniversary. The service was impeccable, the food cooked to perfection. I will say that although everything was amazing there was a horrible group of people seated at the table across from our booth that could have ruined the experience if we had let them. They taunted staff and were extremely rude and disrespectful to staff and diners. When asked to leave for being disruptive they taunted and name called staff. For those staff members I wish to apologize because they did not deserve that disrespect and I would like to commend you all on your composure during that time. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!
