This is a bookstore with a lot of History. My favorite thing to do before going inside the store is wonder around the bookshelves they keep outside, full of books in sale that were donated by people. The prices vary from $1-$10. If you go inside, I'd recommend starting from the 2nd floor and then going downstairs. One thing the locals by a lot here are: tot bags. They have a wall full of options near the cashier.
I heard that eco bags are famous, so I went there just to take a look haha. I ended up buying an eco bag pouch, etc. It's a good gift for those who want something nice, and since it's a place with a lot of tourists, the staff are friendly.
A pilgrim every booklovers know.not as good as macleod's books in Vancouver.it is a feel. Macleod is more personal, all usedbooks, and the owner is a legend, I feel he knows everything. Strand is good, employees are very friendly, while my son and I are searching books, they gave my 80-yr old mom a chair so she could sit down and wait for us.maybe strand is more on literature side, I am more on history side so I feel Macleod's used books bookstore fits me better. I hope all bookstores a prosperous future as we know they are all surviving in this internet era. I will continue to support bookstores.
There are cute souvenirs and props. Youngpoong Bookstore is not as big as Kyobo Bookstore, but it has history and tradition. On a clear day, it seems that used books for $3 to $7 are sold outside. If you read a book, it would be nice to spend some leisurely time.
The film location where they used it in Absolutely Fabulous episode " Gay" where Edina played by Jennifer Saunders has found her son Serge (Josh Hamilton) working there.
Good selection of books. Friendly staff. But it's way too crowded to actually enjoy it. I felt like I was in a early-2000s Best Buy on black Friday. It made it hard to appreciate the store
If books were the lifeblood of civilization, Strand Bookstore would be its beating heart. The second floor's photography section is like the Louvre, without the jet lag. Found some pre-publication review copies in the lower level that were shockingly affordable, which felt a tad like winning the literary lottery. A must-visit.
