I'm so happy i came across this hair salon is soooo convenient for me since i work in brooklyn & by the time i get uptown (bronx) all hair salons are closed but sisters salon is open till late & only 3 blocks from my job i found out about them through tiktok in june 2023 & been with them ever since. I highly recommend.the ladies are awesome & their work is chef kiss as a dominican im so happy with their services.

Sisters Unisex never disappoints. Not only is the staff inviting, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about hair care, they are also super accommodating (I mean what other salon is open at 7am!?)

I live in Jersey so it’s hard to come consistently, but whenever I make my way back it’s like my hair comes to life again! I’ve committed to making my bi-weekly appointments and Im confident that my hair will continue to thrive because of Sisters Unisex

I wish I could give 0 stars. They sneak relaxer into your hair and then burn it during a blow out. If you come here your hair will be damaged.

Good for a blow-dry that could easily last a whole week. But, this ONE good thing, is completely overshadowed by all the negative.

The service is truly disappointing - they never, or take forever to greet you upon arrival to the salon, and they do not respect scheduled appointments, and try to guilt you into doing rollers if they are backed up with walk-ins. Some of the stylists are very rude - when I came in for my scheduled 8: 30pm ET appointment, I was told that I would have to, and I quote, "wait a really really long time", unless I did rollers. Last I checked, it is not the customer's job to accommodate the stylists' schedules if they fail to manage scheduled appointments, walk-ins and customer expectations.

There were about eight (8) customers at the salon, so they clearly mis-managed schedules. Clearly, they were walk-ins, but I kept being overlooked, despite having an appointment. And even if all those customers had appointments, the salon clearly did not staff up accordingly, or managed the expectations of the walk-ins.

> I arrived at 8: 30pm ET sharp for my appointment.
> They started to wash my hair at 8: 55pm ET.
> They finished the wash at 9: 10pm ET.
> They started to blow out my hair at 10pm ET (ergo, waited in a chair with wet hair for 50-mins).
> They finished my blow-out at 10: 15pm ET.
> AND THE COST FOR A WASH AND BLOW-DRY WAS $78! AND, I STILL GAVE A TIP, BECAUSE I HATE NOT TIPPING PEOPLE IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS WHEN I ONLY PAY $55 OR $65 IN OTHER TOP-NOTCH SALONS.

All in all, I was at the salon for a total of almost 2-hours for a wash and blow-dry, AND that was with a scheduled appointment of 8: 30pm ET. Goes to show they could've kept my 8: 30pm ET appointment, if they didn't prioritize the walk-ins, since my hair only took 15-mins to blow dry.

If you have plans/are on a schedule, and have some place to be, skip this place. They're just not reliable with being efficient with their scheduled appointments and getting you out at a reasonable time.

I'll be going back to Dry Bar. They at least complete a wash and blow-dry in 45-mins or an hour from start to finish, offer beverages/cookies, are clean, and provide friendly and above all, professional services.

Additionally, most of the stylists speak Spanish, which is great, but a few of them love to talk about the customers, thinking they don't speak Spanish (FYI: I'm fluent in Spanish).

There's a reason this establishment has a ton of one (1) star reviews. Please do better.

I had gone to Sisters in the past and while I was visiting nyc decided to try them again with my pre teen daughters. Upon arrival we were never greeted everyone just continued as they were without asking finally after a few mins I told one of the ladies closer to the front that the three of us wanted a wash and set. Another stylist who had ignored us the whole time informed me that I could not stay with my 3yr old son, I asked why and she said because there is a sign. I understand small kids can be obnoxious at hair salons but he was sitting quietly on his tablet not disturbing. We are in nyc on vacation we didn't have anywhere to leave him. I understand if they said oh if he's disrupting or running around but he was sitting off to the side on his tablet. I waited awhile to see if anyone would speak with me about anything and then just decided to leave. I think this place lacks a lesson in Customer service. I highly do not recommend it I looked up another place local and took our money elsewhere. If you're a single mother and have to bring your kids to a salon I recommend Yahi Dominican Beauty Salon.

I went to sisters hair salon on June 14,2023 and I was disappointed from the time I sat in the chair to get my hair washed. I have natural 4c hair and I know they slipped permed into it. I knew it as soon as I sat in under the dryer for my “deep condition” because it immediately started to burn. I then proceeded to tell the lady who put the “deep conditioner” in my hair to please wash it out. They also tried to charge me $90 for a wash and blow out for my 4c shoulder length hair (that wasn’t including the “deep conditioner”). I washed my hair today June 19,2023 and I have so many straight dead strains of hair. My hair still smells like perm smh. Please do not go to them if you have natural hair and want to keep it healthy! I also believe that they are racist they continuously to talk about how “bad” my hair was as it was getting done. DO NOT GO IF YOU CHERISH YOUR NATURAL HAIR

I seen a good review on TikTok and thought I would give it try but never again! I have natural hair and the young lady who washed my hair talked about how " bad " my hair was when trying to put in the rollers. Very disrespectful and rude staff, they do not greet you and they talk about you right in front of your face. Do not waste your time and money going here

Disappointed! Someone recommended this place because I’ve been having problems with my 8 year old daughter’s hair care. I traveled OVER AN HOUR to get here with my 8 year old and my newborn baby IN A STROLLER. Once I got there they told me that my baby wasn’t allowed to stay in the salon! She told me to leave my 8 year old.she will wash & cut her hair and I can come back when she’s done.which I didn’t feel comfortable with so I left. I understand their “policy” but I wish this was posted on the website! I was actually upset because I had traveled so far for nothing!

I have friends who go to this salon religiously. This is my first time going to Sisters because it is way too cold out to venture out to my usual salon. I had a great experience! I brought some hair color (rinse) and asked for a wash, set, and blow dry. My hair looks wonderful and I was in and out in 2 hours and 25 minutes. The stylist left my hair with body and bouncy curls. I highly recommend.

Ericka is back at sisters. She is my favorite stylist and colorist. She got me out of my comfort zone and I love it. She pays attention to your hair and does what you ask for. If she feels what you're asking for won't be good for your hair, she will give you other options. She is there to work with you. Her warm smile is engaging and comforting. I will follow her anywhere (ok, except SI & Queens, LOL).

My hair is thin and falling out after going to them. They put some kind of texturiser in my hair and my hair went from thick to a spaghetti noodle stay away from this salon smfh

If your hair is at all natural- as in, even if you have some coarse new growth, do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to this salon. You will be disrespected, disregarded and publicly humiliated and then they will try to up-charge you for the texture of your hair. This is wrong and it goes without saying that it is rooted in their anti-Blackness and self-hatred. Little did they know that I understand Spanish and understood every word they said. You’ve been warned, ladies. Take your money elsewhere. If I could, I would give them zero stars.

Love this place! They fixed my haircut and always keep my hair healthy. They are super quick you’ll be done and looking amazing in no time!

I have been coming to Sisters since 2007. I love how my hair is always perfect when I leave and the girls are always nice. Even during Covid I was able to book an appointment with ease on the website.

Wash, deep treatment and pin curl. My hair came out soft and the stylist did a great job with the pin curls

If you would like to have your hair destroyed, go-to this place.they ruined my hair. A simple blowout. My hair is so damaged and is still shedding. It still smells like a chemical when I just asked for a wash and blow. I suspect that they put something in the shampoo or conditioner. Trust me, don't go here. Also, you will have to stand and wait on a line for a wash. Talk about a degrading experience and it isn't cheap!

I’ve been coming here before covid. I must say things have really changed. Always made an appointment with the same person. Ive always been on time. I can’t understand how a 1: 30pm appointment for a simple wash, set and blow. And didn’t leave until 5: 15. My hair isn’t long I have never experienced customer like this. I sat patiently watching other customers come and go while I’m still sitting. For a Thursday afternoon the customer service I received was unexpected. I walk out I will never go back to this salon Yosec I won’t be returning nor will I ever return to this place all though it’s very convenient for my neighborhood I’d rather go else were, PS 5: 15pm my hair was still not completed.

They are always nice and sweet to me and they definitely know how to do hair well! Im super happy with this spot. Ive been going here for at least over 17 years

Sisters isn’t a bad hair salon. I actually like how certain stylist do my hair. The problem is that sometimes I feel like because I’m black (I could be wrong but it’s honestly the feeling I get) they don’t do their best. They half do my hair. I have dry scalp & there are times I went and the person that was washing my hair actually took the time to clean my scalp & then there are other times when they barely care for my hair while washing.

I always try and go to the person that I remember doing my hair the best but sometimes I dnt see them so I have to go to someone else because the line is long and other ppl want their hair done as well. And also I don’t want the person that’s going to wash my hair to feel bad if I dnt go to them. At the same time I want my hair done the right way. It’s just so much.

This salon honestly is good. You just have to go to the right person. Ericka does real good hair but everyone always wants her lol. If you have the time and patience to wait for her then I suggest you do. She’s really the best person there. Everyone else to me just does not take the time to properly care for your hair.

The wait time is very long They overcharge for a wash n set. I paid $55 for a Wash n set with no conditional treatment. They talk about their clients in Spanish which is really wrong every customer that comes in they have something to say in Spanish. I know cause l speak the language very well.lm Hispanic you can't tell that lm that's how l know whether l should come back to the salon.it is about the hair being too nasty, smell or mistreated hair but in Spanish which is wrong they are not for the community they are for themselves and their kind. Most of there clients are black and they should bring a translation to hear conversion. I WILL NEVER EVER GO AGAIN. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt went 2 different times but it's the worst. They do a great job blowing ur hair but do you really want to give ur hard earn money to people who talk about client's in gossip

I usually have a good experience when I go here but recently I went for a trim and only wanted about an inch cut off. I cut my hair very often to avoid major cuts and to keep my ends in tact so I know I was not due for a big cut. Almost 3-4 inches was cut off my hair. Very upsetting.

If I could give 0 stars I would. They allow people to make appointments but you still have to Waite an hour so what’s the point. Not only that I waited the hour outside and told the lady I would be outside and when I came back the lady with an attitude tells me they already gave my spot up because I wasn’t waiting inside. It literally only was 20 minutes and what’s the difference between me waiting outside or inside the workers were Rude on top of that. FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO DO YOUR HAIR! ITS NOT WORTH IT!

The place felt kind of chaotic, but it turned out good. A lady cut my hair very fast, in literally 10min and I liked it! Also, the prices are very reasonable.

I entered this hair salon for the first time the other day & was discriminated against for being a black hispanic. I asked the lady in spanish for cut & press. She responded back to me in spanish saying they don't do that there & sent me across the street upstairs to african hairbraiding spot for services.

Made an appointment online just to walk in and be in a small space with 30+ other people. I waited, standing up, on a line for 45 minutes with 8 women in front of me to have my hair washed, then waited in another line to put rollers in my hair. Lots of arguing going on in the place. Hectic environment.

There's no social distance in this place at all, I did a phone appointment for 10 am. They claim that they do by appointments only. Today I arrived at 10 am and There was ove 50 in that small space, appointments, employees and walkings costumers, the line for hair wash was by the door. Whats the point on lying. I just walked out and went to the place around the corner. What's the point of the dividers and fake covid19 safety guidelines. Also the place hygiene is very poor, disgusting ceiling, the bathroom, the must uncomfortable hair wash area, forgot it. The service is just OK, nothing like uptown hair salons, Another they is always gossiping, talking about clients that don't understand Spanish, ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT MAN and 1, I believe that is so unprofessional! NEVER AGAIN.

This hair salon is horrible. I am a single mother and they turned me away because I had my child. This really made me feel away and they need to change it. My daughter is 6 years old and well mannered

I've been a client for 20 years. I've tried other salons but was unhappy with the end results. I love Sister's & still travel to Brooklyn although I've moved out of state five years ago.

Love love Sisters. ERICA my stylist is great and the entire staff is fantastic. The Covid measures they take makes us feel super safe starting with taking temperature at the door and separating chairs with glass separation. Then after each person leaves each chair they wipe down with sanitizer. I feel so safe each time I go. Been a customer for years and highly recommend.

Love getting my hair done here by Diega or Erika only. I have been coming here for 8 years. Prices definitely increased but now due to covid you must make an appointment.

I have been visiting Sisters Unisex for well over 10 years. The staff are an exceptional group of ppl/more like family. The service is excellent and I would recommend to anyone.

Very unprofessional, there're book everyone at the same time so there's a long wait and small arguments.the prices change depending who's doing your hair. I was charged $20, $25 and $30 for a wash n set and blowing the roots. The stylist charged me $30 stating that my hair is natural and she to use extra heat. My hair is not natural, there was a few inches of new growth, the heat was so high that my scalp was burning and looks like a part of my edges my be damages. I will not be going here if ever again. This was under the stylist that is tall, thin and blond hair (short).

SOCIAL DISTANCING @ SISTERS UNISEX SALON IS AMAZIN. SORRY I DIDN'T TAKE PICTURES OR A VIDEO FIRST TEMPERURE IS TAKING@ THE DOOR. EVERY SINK, EVERY DRYER, EVERY BEAUTICIAN IS SEPARATED BY PLEXIGLAS PARTITIONS, BEFORE YOU SIT DOWN AND WHEN YOU GET UP EVERYTHING IS SANITIZED.

I like it because no appt needed and you get a good scrubbing on your head. I didn't like being left under the dryer longer than necessary because I have very thin hair so I got up and asked to take the curlers out and the lady pointed to the one who left me under the dryer so I started taking them out and put on a hat and left. I had to go to bed anyway. I get up 4: : 00 in the morning. I was there from 6: 30 to 8: 45. I come from College Point Queens 2 hr ride. Not much English spoken but they know what you want.

The lady kept pulling my hair while washing it and then she disappeared I was in the salon for two hours. Also she was on the phone having a full blown conversation. Don’t go to the older lady with red hair. Absolutely rude.
