Finally found my salon. Service was great atmosphere was clean. My hair came out perfectly. They do not waste your time! Started working on me as soon as I came in. I plan on coming back soon inshallah I had a great time in general here.

Absolutely loved the color and cut shay did for me. I went from blonde highlights to all dark hair and lots of layers. I got a lot of compliments.

I have been coming here for years and I can honestly say Shay is the best in town. I moved to Raleigh and I flew in for thanksgiving and I couldn’t be happier I waited for him to cut my hair again. No other hands touch my hair! Thanks Shay for your professional service.

Forest Hills DOES have a truly great hairstylist - it's Alexandra at Shay's Place! She really listens to what you want, and then does it with great skill. Best of all, she has wonderful styling ideas if you want suggestions. Alexandra is a lovely person who deals well with people and takes pride in her fine work. Honestly, I had tried other nearby salons, but was always disappointed. I'm so happy I found Alexandra. I highly recommend her, Shay and his terrific staff!

I go to Shay's Salon weekly for a shampoo and blowout, usually by Alex. I can't say enough about Alex, she is professional and does a beautiful job on my thick hair. I always feel like a princess when I leave! And if I need a blowout on short notice she always accommodates. She is a sweetheart a new friend!

Shay is amazing! I’ve struggled for years finding someone who understood exactly the layered haircut I wanted and he never disappoints. He always keeps my length while adding volume to my hair. He knows what he is doing. Any picture I’ve shown, he was able to duplicate what I wanted. He is very soft spoken and the salon in general is a calming environment for me. Love this place. I have known Ida for 10 years. As she says, “nothing is impossible for me! ” She has masterfully fixed a botched pixie cut, styled my hair for a special event, consistently given me good cuts, and just recently gave my mousy brown hair a lift with bayalage. Ida is very personable and friendly and does her very best to make her customers happy and comfortable.

Haven’t seen Shay in three years and he could tell. Love this place my haircut is amazing and everyone there is! It may be another three years but will always come back to Shay! ️️️

I discovered Shay’s after years of going to barbershops that couldn’t quite get my hair right. I have several cowlicks that can make my hair unruly at times. I decided to give Shay’s a try. Shay himself cuts my hair, and is such a great stylist that he helped me to grow parts my hair out properly that previous barbers used to shave unnecessarily. This used to make it extra hard for me to style properly. Now that I’ve been going to Shay for a while, my hair looks better than ever. He has made several recommendations that have helped me become very happy with my look. I always trust him to cut my hair perfectly, I even had him cut my hair and trim my beard before my wedding day! The salon itself is very clean and comfortable. The staff is always attentive and friendly as well, always offering water or coffee and taking great care when washing my hair. From now on, no one touches my hair but Shay!

Haircut great great wash and blow out. $73 price.a little high for me as a senior on fixed income, but I know haircut rates are moving up like everything else. Nice atmosphere. You feel pampered. On first entrance I thought maybe for young modern people, but good for me too. A wonderful experience!

I had such an amazing experience at Shay's Place. I had a cut, wash, and blow, and my stylist Ida took such great care of my hair! She was so precise and made sure until the very end that my hair was perfect. It was such a scary transition to go from super long curly hair (that I've had for 8 years!) to a short layered bob, but Ida made the whole process easy and comfortable. She took me in right away and the prices are reasonable as well! Great experience! Recommended my mom too and I'll definitely be going back to see her again!

We just moved to the area and wanted to explore our local stores and go to a hair salon. We found this place, I got a hair dye and my boyfriend got a haircut. They followed instructions PERFECTLY! We’re both so happy we found this place, we’ll continue to come back! 10/10 experience and also lovely people!

I’ve been coming here since the beginning of the pandemic and I have nothing but good things to say. Gigi gives a great wash. Aleks gave me Highlights that are TO DIE FOR! I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair since I got them. And Flutura gave me a gorgeous haircut and blow out the other day that looks so light and bouncy. Great salon.

Ok this is going to be a long review. I'm not a review person. I don't write reviews. But this service was amazing and it would be a crime not to. Shay and his whole team were kind, professional, and made me feel like a queen. I never had my hair colored before but I trusted Shay and his team completely. The atmosphere was very chic; gorgeous interior, but cozy at the same time. It was so refreshing to see such warmth and observe a real sense of community in this business. I would highly recommend this place. There is a sense of rhythm, as though everything is working perfectly. Will definitely be coming back. My first time at a salon and first time dying my hair, Shay did an amazing job walking me through the process, looking through multiple pictures with me, and overall just being a friendly guy. Gigi was incredibly nice as well, overall great experience definitely recommend.

I loved my experience with Ida! She took time to explain which hairstyle would work best for me and explained the process of doing a balayage.

Everyone at this salon was super friendly not to mention very knowledgeable when it comes to hair and keeping it healthy. Ida did a marvelous job on fixing my pandemic boredom hair creation. I have been coming to Shays Place for a few years and they have always been wonderful. I’m picky about my color and let me tell you they are fantastic, professional and very consistent. No matter who has done my hair, Shay, Alexsandra, Ida (spelling?) they are all fantastic! Couldn’t recommend more! For reference I’m a dark blonde and love to be much lighter, my highlights are perfect every time!

The atmosphere is friendly and inviting; but my stylist took her scissors and combs out of a drawer before my haircut and tossed them right back in the drawer after. No cleaning or disinfecting. Every brush I saw had hair in it. These practices would be unhygienic even if we weren’t in a pandemic. Disgusted and disappointed.

First time coming here and I'll mention briefly what I've observed-
- Everyone I interacted with treated me very kindly and patiently.
- The stylist who did my hair (Alekandra) was INCREDIBLY gentle and careful with my hair to the point where I almost felt like dozing off.
- The ambience is soothing with some chatter that made the place feel so calming which is hard for someone with my kind of anxiety.
-The salon itself was so clean and exquisite looking that I felt like I was in a high end celeb salon.
- Aleksandra and some of the other stylists took such care and consideration in making me feel welcome. I fully reccommend both the salon and Aleksandra's services. I'm very thankful for everything including the creation of the exact look I imagined for my hair. 10/10 I am gonna be going here for my haircare needs.

I definitely recommend Shay's place. I had a small wedding a few years ago and had my hair styled at Shay's place and they did a beautiful job. Since then, I have been going to Shay's place for my regular hair cut. The venue is clean, the staff is friendly, and I always leave with a very styled look that is also easy to maintain.

Flutura was amazing! (I sincerely hope I spelled her name correctly) Explained in detail what cut fit best for me all while giving me the desired length and style. I've had some experiences at other places where they are reluctant to do a hairstyle without explaining why, I appreciated her honesty and respected her advice. I will be going back to her soon!

During this Pandemic people are trying to earn more coz of the businesses hit hard but here he really cares about the customers. Asked for a feminine short haircut. I displayed a photo of what I wanted and received the exact opposite. Hair manly short, one side is shorter than the other. I explained to the stylist he went tooo short and rolled his eyes then when I paid him he never gave me my change back. Basically he decided to tip himself for his terrible cut. First and last time going there

Shay, I was there three Thursday's ago.i called two days prior to appt and specifically explained on the phone that I wanted someone who knew how to cut hair short because it’s difficult now a days to find I arrived early for a six pm appointment. I discussed a haircut and possible color change to blue and you said purple was better because of the red tones in my hair. The Spanish guy by the washing station cut my hair and I paid him cash 60 to be exact and never received my change back. Then he asked you how much to dye my hair and you said 200 for man short hair. I left your place unhappy and I was mocked outside for the doo.
Thanks for the offer on the cut but nty. I wound up going somewhere else where she understood what I wanted cut the mistakes Your guy made and dyed my hair there as well

This was honestly the best experience I have had at any salon in the City! My color came out AMAZING and everyone was so nice! I suggest booking an appointment now! I will definitely make this my salon permanently:)
