Russ & Daughters holds a special place in my heart with its delectable smoked fish and nostalgic ambiance and great service, making every visit a cherished culinary journey.
Excellent bagel at an affordable price! We took the classic cream cheese and salmon, the fish is finely cut and of high quality, which makes all the difference! Plus, it’s put in a good amount in the bagel! Best place to enjoy a good bagel in New York!
Excellent! It's all a little expensive, but totally worth it. The bagels are delicious and very filling, the desserts look excellent and the guys who prepare the sandwiches are kind and friendly. Highly recommended!
Was there just a few minutes after opening time at 8am today (Sunday), and the place was already packed. Although there are so many employees, the service is extremely slow. Anyways, onto the food. I had the classic bagel with lox (toasted everything bagel and scallion cream cheese). Generous portions, could only eat half of it. Definitely tasty, worth the wait. That being said, would I go out of my way to come here again? I am not sure, but I think the answer is in my rating.
Hands down the best bagel and lox I’ve ever had. I got the Pastrami cured lox on an egg bagel. Unreal. The cream cheese was super creamy and you get a healthy, perfect mix of lox. It’s probably best I don’t live here because this would be my go to every morning
Incredible bagel and lox shop. They have multiple types of smoked salmon and lox. The bagels and fish are delicious. They also have a small candy shop in the store with chocolates and other small treats. The wait is about 15-20 minutes. The pricing is reasonable for what you get.
There seemed to be a lot of locals, and I was the only Asian. I took a numbered ticket and had to wait a bit. Just looking at the food ingredients on display, I felt something inside. I haven't eaten at other famous bagel shops, so it's hard to compare, but it was delicious.
Probably the best bagel I’ve ever had? As a Brooklyn native I was skeptical of the hype, but the everything bagel with cream cheese, lox and caviar completely altered my taste buds and my life. The bagel is perfectly bouncy and chewy, the lox, melt-in-your-mouth fresh and the caviar tops it off. If you like lox bagels you have to go here.
We waited in line for about 10m because we heard this place has some of the best bagels in the city. If you like smoked salmon, it's so worth the wait! We got a classic and a schmear and both were delicious. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good NY bagel, or just didn't want to wait in the line for Katz's!
Our loot from the store! (Minus my coffee filter). The store had huge waiting line owing to it’s popularity. Once inside, the displays were quite fascinating and the conversations between the customers and busy staff was interesting too! The store owner Niki Russ was wonderful and recommended the vegetarian treats we could buy, also telling us the best way to have a latke (toasted and served with a side of applesauce and sour cream)!
An institution! Love the variety of smoked salmons and cream cheese options. Line was about 10 deep out the door when I arrived for lunch, but it moves pretty quickly. Friendly and helpful service got me what I needed quickly, and the sandwich was devoured soon after at a nearby park.
Extremely popular bagel shop! Had to wait in line for more than 20 min. Due to pandemic, only limited customers allowed inside the store. Good job by the store in limiting the number of people inside the store.
Great bagels, generous cream cheese. Too bad there is no room to sit and eat inside. A large variety of food is available here.
I used to love going to Russ & Daughters. They had the best salmon and sable. This last time it just didn't feel right. I didn't get any sable, but the salmon didn't taste the same. The vibe was off. It used to be worth going out of my way for, but no more. There are other shops I have gone to in the past, that I also liked and will be returning to. I will miss Russ & Daughters.
It was kind of them to agree to weigh 1 cube of Turkish delight.that said I sure wish I ordered more because it was amazing with nuts in it and fig I think. Havent tried the fish side of the shop yet!
The bagel and lox sandwich did not disappoint. It was delicious and we were serviced by a really nice guy behind the counter. The woman behind the counter, however, was mean to us. I think it could be better organized especially since it gets many tourists who have never been there before. Do yourself a favor, order online or phone your order in. Then you don't have to wait on the giant line outside. You just walk right in to pick up your order. You still get to see the store but you avoid waiting. It will feel less touristy too.
I don't get the hype. Good bagels and lox but I fail to see why this place has such long lines all the time. Tip- arrive at the opening hour to avoid the queue. As of October 2021 they only let in around 10 people inside at once.
Walked by early this morning and there was only a short line for this iconic New York Deli. So I had to take advantage.
Like stepping back in time, the signs, the portraits, everything feels very classic New York. Which is why I ordered the "Classic". Lox, cream cheese, tomato, onions and capers on an everything bagel.
The smoked salmon (lox) is the tastiest I have ever had! Delicate, not overpowering, basically melts onto my tongue. There's a reason Russ & Daughter's is so famous and it's the high quality fish. High quality everything to be sure.
Hopefully you'll find a short line, or the patience to come here because it is worth every minute and every dollar spent! Enjoy
Not worth the cost nor the wait. The food is good. I enjoyed my pastrami salmon bagel, but it isn't worth the very high prices (+50¢ for a slice of onion adds insult to injury). I waited over half an hour and I really can't see why it is so slow.
One of my favorite places in all the world. Everything is amazing. How do you decide what to get? It's a bit of a problem. The answer for me, I think, is to order something you can't get anywhere else.
Great quality product that they make here. I love that they limit the amount of people that can go inside to order to only about 5. Small but cozy place and the people there are nice with their service.
