Native Rochester

Wasn't busy. But the bartenders were struggling to keep up. We had a table of 5 and waited over 15 minutes for our drinks. Our waitress great though

The atmosphere and drinks are wonderful, especially in the summer. The food and the service are average for the price and not what it was a year or so ago. We waited 20 minutes for drinks, 30 minutes for the appetizers, and over 40 minutes for dinner (two burgers and a salad) on a weeknight when the restaurant was only 1/3 full.

Native wasn't great but certainly not the worst. We decided to give it a try due to its close proximity to Geva Theater. The lighting was pretty dim which made reading the menus a bit challenging, but it was relaxing nonetheless.
We ordered the burger and the artic char. The burger was okay. It came with fries that had seen better days. I know the look of old fries and should have sent the plate back, but service was slow and not worth waiting longer for hot fries. The artic char was good with a fair portion of char and vegetables, but nothing fabulous.
The restaurant itself is nice and so was our server, but the food was slow coming out, taste was mediocre and low quality for the price.

Great food, and decent cocktails.

The pork belly burger was outstanding! Beautiful bar. Great location. The hostess wasn’t super friendly but hey, she may have just been having a bad day

I was a solo diner and that seemed to start off on the wrong foot. I was offered to sit at the bar I don't mind sitting at the bar, but it was elbow to elbow no room to eat with people breathing on your food. I got a table instead the waitress took my order. I had the Macaroni & cheese it was not good it was like the cheese was painted on very skimpy on the cheese a big puddle of oil at the bottom of the dish. The soup was good but the waitress forgot it I had to ask for it again after my Mac & Cheese came out. When the waitress was walking back & forth she made a wide circle around my table to avoid me god forbid I would ask for anything. Then finding out there is a 3.5% convenience fee if you use credit or debit. I am a good tipper but I only tipped 10%. Next time I go to Amerks game just gonna get a beer and a slice at the arena.date of visit 1/6/23

At first it seems like another "Expensive restaurant with mason jars" kinda places that pop up around Rochester, but this one was really good. The tables are very comfortable set apart, our waitress was delightful, and while the menu had some shock value, we were able to feed four people comfortably for $130. Definitely a "treat yourself" kinda place and doesn't break the bank.

The food here is consistently great. The recent winter cocktail program was also wonderful (better than their summer program in my opinion) but a nice variety and some niche ingredients which is always fun. Have had issues with the service before (in one instance we made a reservation and while we were waiting at the bar for our table to get ready another party seated themselves at our table, the host refused to intervene and said the best she could do for us was to seat us at a table with 1 too few spots for us - obviously NOT ideal, especially when no apologies were given). Luckily the food and drinks are good, but especially when it gets busy make sure you have time so you can relax in case your service is slow.

Great pastrami, soup, and salad combo. Was fairly dead for a mid week lunch, but perhaps it's just because of Thanksgiving week off for area businesses. Native seems to cater to the business crowd and perhaps Geva theater guests. Unless I am in the area again I'm not sure I'd return; the menu was basic and I didn't see many must-have options to try next time. I would also consider Native for large groups or private dining space for events.

A 3.5 really. Every interaction we had with an employee (three diff ones: host, one who dropped off our drink, server) was weird/awkward or stand-offish. Though I suppose they weren’t necessarily rude so that’s good.

I got the Winter Veg pizza - it was average, Ferrari’s has better pizza imo, so go there if you’re feeling that. I would go & try this place again though, perhaps getting a regular entrèe

We went in unexpectedly for some drinks and ended up getting a charcuterie board to go along with the drinks. The drinks were very tasty and 1 of the best charcuterie boards I've had!

Great music. Ordered the ceviche and it was ok. It needed lemon and salt. The Cobb salad was delicious but the Mahi was too salty.

Very cute place with live music and outdoor patio. I didn’t like their food much (maybe I just dislike garlic on pizza) but overall it is a nice place

Native is the perfect spot for a work lunch downtown! Food and drinks are always impressive, definitely try the lettuce wraps if you haven't yet.

Classy atmosphere. Great esthetic. Background Music could be better. They don't serve regular condiments such as ketchup

Native was a great place for my friends birthday celebration! The food, drinks and SERVICE were top notch. Can’t wait until the next the visit!

I love the tostones with steak. I should have asked for some ketchup and mayo. But the mojo sauce it came with was nice. I’d definitely get this dish again and was really happy that the brisket was a good amount on top of each toston. They weren’t stingy with it. I was full with just that dish.

The ambiance was nice, service was good, long wait time for cocktail, and food. In all it is adequate for Rochester culinary and dining.

Okay. Price is reasonable and food is okay. Presentation of the food, particularly dessert, could be improved. Liquor was a good selection and reasonably priced.

Really great atmosphere and tasty cocktails and food! I love the openness of the restaurant and their outdoor seating. The quality of the food seems a bit inconsistent, and some items are a bit overpriced.

This is a really nice restaurant. The food was great, drinks were exciting. Prices are a somewhat high for what you get and not a huge fan of paying for parking in the garage nearby.

My friends and I went to Native for our first time tonight. From the moment we sat down, the bartender Ethan went above and beyond. We were greeted immediately, our cocktails came quickly and were amazing. Ethan was knowledgeable about the menu, he had great suggestions for cocktails and bourbons. We came in for a drink and stayed til close. I am so glad we decided to come to Native, this was the best service I've had in years and will definitely be back.

This is a go back again restaurant. The plating was professional, the food was great.when in Rochester, I would go again.

Ross was our server, and first the time ever I gave a 25% tip. She was working alone and juggling 23 patrons indoors and several outside, as well. She made the Energizer Bunny look like a slaggard. Seemingly effortlessly, she managed to keep all the tables up to date with orders and drinks and food and bills. It was breathtaking! I hope they're paying her twice the going rate. The country bread was delicious, but I didn't much care for the aftertaste of the herbed butter. And the spiced roasted root vegetables on hummus were also very good, but I think next time, I'd ask for them to be heated up.

Nestled Downtown Rochester. Daughter was in town and we ate there. Food was really good. Staff was nice and very helpful. A beautiful Place inside. Live here stop in. Visiting here stop in. A must try.

The food here is pretty great and the service was as amazing. The atmosphere is great and the view is as awesome.

Our night started with getting service from amazing bartenders. They were very personable and you could tell that they loved their jobs. The ambiance was cool, which really made for a positive vibe. The drinks were absolutely amazing. The problem was the food. My brother and I both ordered the chef's selection, aka the steak. It was poorly cooked and we both did something that we never do, which is send it back. Now. I want to advocate that our spouses dinners were well liked. But I need to communicate with the community if you want to order a cut of meat from the chef, this is NOT the place. The chefs cut was awful and moving forward, if you want a beef filling, get the burger because I have gotten.that before and it was great.

Very nice spot to relax and enjoy a good dinner. The whole staff was great. We were never rushed. The waitress was there anytime we needed something. We will be back.

The food and ambience were great. They tucked my friends and I away in a private little corner and it was very COVID safe from the QR code menu, partitions and the giant patio doors were open for most of the time we were there (it was a nice spring evening). I will definitely go back! Highly recommended.

They have a great menu and the food is pretty amazing here. I strongly recommend you try them out when you have a chance. And the service staff are some of the best!

Hubby and I enjoyed are time at Native. Are waitress was very helpful. Are meal was awesome. Felt safe eating there. It was hubby brithday.

Very bland terrible Tostones Iam puertorrican. I know what is stuffed Tostones. Their need a real puertorrican chef.

Nice location with a trendy vibe. Had the portobello with potato entree, which was good and the peach pizza, which had an off putting flavor. The bottom of the pizza was burnt and overall the pizza was very dry.

The food is freaking amazing here and the service is one of the best. I highly recommend bring the entire family for a great time.

Tonight for date night we decided to try something new so we picked Native. First impressions were amazing. Nice location, decent-sized bar, dining room was relaxing and cozy.

For appetizers we ordered what was effectively chicken tacos with lettuce being the "tortilla" and some Cajun dry rub chicken wings. The tacos were weren't terrible but had a very mixed flavor. We had a hard time figuring out how to eat them with the lettuce being very soggy and loose. The chicken wings were good. Nothing noteworthy, just your average bar wings.

For entrees we decided to go with the red pepper pasta and the Salmon w/ beet risotto. I'm not a huge fan of beets, but the risotto was extremely sweet and it sort of took away from what a traditional risotto should taste like. The salmon was perfectly seared and peppered on the outside, and almost raw on the inside. The skin was soggy, peeling off of the filet, and very oily. My dining partner found her sauce to be delicious, although the pasta was a bit thick.

The saving grace of my experience was our server. I didn't catch her name, but she was polite, attentive, accommodating, and professional. The drinks we ordered (Moscato & "The Bentley") were tasty and we had no complaints there.

All in all, I would return to Native, but probably just to grab drinks at the bar and order finger foods.

They have an excellent menu selection and the food here taste amazing. I do recommend anyone to try them out when you have a chance.

Ambiance and locale are great, did not have a positive experience with the Airline Chicken or the Seared Salmon Risotto; both were flavored in ways that felt off-putting. The drinks were good but not spectacular and tasted a little thin.
