I like pricing
I like the variety of products
I like the cashiers
What I don’t like is the fact that the security is almost 7/10 either screwing their face up or moving around as if they are uncomfortable with transgender females
The guys are of African decent not African American I believebso maybe it’s their cultural differences but none the less you can feel the energy or see it in their body movements
Now when I go in I don’t even look at them I just go straight to the aisle that is needed

The tiny rude woman in the back is enough to prompt me to never do business with these people ever again. I’ve been coming to this store for years and whenever I ask them to check if they have different lengths of hair or a certain brand of product, they do so. But not this time. Without lifting a finger she tells me that what they have is what they have. She refuses to check the back or her inventory log, and maintains an attitude with me throughout our entire interaction. Too bad for her. I have relatively long hair and usually need almost a dozen packs of hair to complete my styles. I guess my money isn’t good enough for Manhattan Beauty. Never again am I shopping at this trash hole.

I would have loved to leave a lovely review of this store but unfortunately I will leave this review so the store can work on their level of mannerism, and respect for customers. Today I went to this location to inquire about particular items in the hair section towards the back of the store. The first women who appeared to look Latino, I inquired with was not attentive in her demeanor and service to show me the item I was particularly asking to see hanging on the hooks of the hair section. I went over to the second women, who appeared to look Latino as well, to learn more about the terms the first women were using to describe the product I wanted and as the first women walked over to assert herself into the conversation with an aggressive and demeaning manner, the second women turned to the first women and decided to treat me in the same manner as well. The were very aggressive, demeaning. I proceeded towards the front of the store to talk with the manager who called herself Sindy. I asked Sindy if she was aware of this manner of customer service towards customers. Sindy proceeded to apologize for that section of the store and offered for a different day for me to shop at the store in that section. I actually found that very dismissive and concerning to say the least, but I appreciated the apology. I was told the owner Robert will be available during the week. I have to say I definitely felt this experience was discrimination and racism. I will leave this review and warn customers this store does not genuinely care about their customers as they would like you to think so I recommend considering taking your precious money somewhere else!

This is one of those old school, New York City gems. The type of place that has everything you need, everything you didn't know you needed, and expert customer service to help along the way. Great for professionals and the average shopper alike.

Very racist people, I’m a profession hair stylist in Nyc. I go in and I’m followed around the store every time. Then when I call them out on it. They act surprised and want to argue with me. Don’t go in especially if you are black

Been going here for years after this past Saturday never going back. Need better customer service

Been coming here for most of my hair and face products for years and didn't realize the price markup was nearly a third of each product. I get that as a shop they have to do this for profit but it's just a ripoff with how much extra is charged.

They have great prices on hair color and I have found the employees helpful when I ask for help. I too get closely watched when shopping, but last time I was there they caught a woman stealing, so I guess they have a lot of theft. Don’t take it personally!

The worst customer service ever. I called to make sure they have a product in stock before I make a trip. Last time I went, they didn't have it and I did NOT want to make another trip. The girl who answered the phone clearly spoke English but she had no comprehension skills of what I was talking about. When I was looking for an Essie Nail polish that they carry but last time it was out of stock. She kept asking me to repeat the name and colors and she couldn't figure out if she had it or not. She told me to come to the store to see if they have it. To save that time and headache I will head simply go to Amazon or other online stores. If you want to survive and compete with other big named retail online stores, they should know better and have a better customer service person answering the phone or know what they have or don't have in stock.

TL;DR - Scary customer experience - followed very aggressively in the store, physically blocked into the aisles. I had to call my husband in because I felt so unsafe! Out of concern for others, I really think folks should think twice before shopping here. When business owners are looking for thieves, they “find” them - usually in regular, law abiding customers.

Walked out without buying a single thing because I was so uncomfortable- I had to call my husband because I felt so unsafe! They follow you around the store - persistently - they also block the aisle so you can’t get out. It’s very disconcerting and frightening, and incredibly inefficient.

I used to shop here six-ish years ago and returned with fond memories…I’m not sure if the beauty supply is under new management but I’ve NEVER been followed this aggressively in a store. As much as I love their collection, it’s just IMPOSSIBLE to shop that way. When my husband and I spoke with the employees, they insisted they were just doing as told, but when we spoke with management they swore it wasn’t policy. Either way, I just feel like it’s a recipe for confrontation and disaster, and out of concern for others, I really think folks should think twice before shopping here. Good product range; but as many have mentioned here customer service is extremely poor. I have been to this store many times and not a single time I heard “welcome, hello, or can I help you? ”. Indeed all they do is a good job of staring. They just don’t care about customer service. It’s only that the products I need they have. Otherwise I would never shop there again.

Alot of products to choose from but for some odd reason they just stare at you and not say a word. Every aisle you go in they stand at the top of the aisle and stare at you follow you around the store. It was pretty weird like can I help you? !?

Andrea, a wig specialist, was incredibly helpful even though I didn't end up buying a wig. Shop there if you are a wig newbie like me.

Prices were fair. Service itself wasn’t bad but when I opened the hair I bought it seemed it was already opened by someone else. The hair was cut out of its rubber band holder and looked like it was folded back into the package.can’t return it for obvious reasons (I bought it on Monday and won’t be able to go back til Thursday) so it’s hard to prove it wasn’t me who did it. Probably won’t go back again which is too bad because the time was a plus. Usually the beauty supply stores in my area are closed by the time I get off work.

Spent st least $300 a month there then today bought jewelry for Christmas gifts spending more than $150 and they didn’t want to give me 4 little boxes for the gifts. So I left the unpaid merchandise on the counter and walked out never to return. Cheap cheap foolishly cheap.

I get all my hair products and skin care from this store. Don't know where I would be without it! Great location from my apartment.

This is one of my "must" stop/go everytime I am back in NYC for my beauty products to take back to the UK, great selection of products at decent prices!

Friendly and helpful clerks. Clean clutter-free isles. I would certainly recommend this store to friends and family. As for the prices I think it's pretty reasonable even for those on a budget.

The cashier was nasty she never told me that she was leaving when it was my turn to buy my item i walk up to tbe cashier at no time did she say i am closed i am standing looking at her while shes getting dresses to go she calls her manager to say shes going i told the manager as well he just looks at me This place doesn t carry the best products no wonder people buy from the internet dont need the grief buying my suff online

Well organized! Aisles are rather tight in the back where the braiding hair stocked, but other than that I had a pleasant experience.

Has everything you need for beauty supplies that you think the middle of the city won't have. They're like the upgraded hood beauty suppiles

You have to pay $0.50 for a wig cap and you can only try on a maximum of 5 wigs.

Great selection of beauty products with good brands. Surprisingly massive assortment of lashes (individuals, strip and mermaid tails) at super reasonable prices. Always stop here when I’m in the area.

This is the 2nd Beauty Supply store that I visit when I'm in New York's midtown area. It's has a pretty large variety of items for EVERY budget but it's a bit crowded & jam packed with them.

If you're a HARD CORE product junkie.this store's FOR YOU! It has LOTS. & I mean LOTS of goodies to choose from to add to your ever growing collections. I ABSOLUTELY L️VE the choices offered in their make-up brands, especially the endless varieties of lip glosses & lipsticks offered it's INCREDIBLE! Even though the store is just a BIT of a tight squeeze when trying to maneuver your way around inside it's SO worth it!

This location is pretty affordable for manhattan. I bought 7 packs of Marley hair for $5 each! I couldn’t believe it. The people who work there are also really nice and helpful. They’ve always been kind to me when I went. It’s conveniently located near the E train. It is a bit cramped but that’s because they’ve fit so much product into one location. I appreciate that.

The woman accused me of stealing and adamant she searched my bag. It is very traumatic and stressful. I am still affected by it. She claimed I had a bottle in my bag that looks like a bottle in the store. She took the phone to make a call because I declined to show her my bag. I think she was about to call the police.

In the end I showed her my bottle and she was of course, WRONG

Tried so many skin care products, I used this last night and very impressed, on first-time use! I guess it's what my skin is looking for, will finish this to the last drop and come back for more review (Nature Republic Aloe Vera foam wash and Aloe vera gel) it didn't dry my skin, does not feel tight, and not oily, just right, and I have dry skin, that I was so worried that my skin would start to peel. I'll be back!

I tried to change an OPI nail lacquer and they refused to do it with no further logical explanation. They were not really friendly. If you change your mind about colors don’t buy here

Huge selection of all beauty products, wigs, weaves and extensions etc.very relaxed chill atmosphere. Rush hours might be little hectic but go during morning or afternoon times you will be taken care of. Owners and the management good folks.cheers!

I love this place. Anyone who needs and likes hair and skin products must go there. The biggest collection of hair products I have ever seen. Faux hair, clips, combs, oils, shampoos, dyes, scarfs, etc. I totally recommend.

Great prices, nice staff. Its a little dusty and a bit old school, but it has that good ol neighborhood beauty supply feel that I'm used to as a life long NYC resident. I come here often for their deals. It's the only beauty supply in the area with competitive prices comparative with the outer boroughs. Been coming here for years and I always find what I need. Great range of affordable products.

This beauty shop is my playground. They have awesome lines of cosmetic brands including thalac, phytomer, klapp and more. Their customer service is the best and i love their products! Im definately a regular:)

This is a nice beauty supply store & they have a lot of stuff in there as well. Once in awhile I can be found here to do my own hair

Maybe it's just me but the location is ridiculously small but on the plus side they have a wide variety of options in beauty supply necessities

They just don’t care about the quality of their products. This magnetic eye lashes didn’t work as it should be, it fells from my eyes, I tried to keep but it doesn’t keep in my eyes.
I couldn’t use even once, because is embarrassing use a eye lashes that fells from your eyes lol.
I tried to return it right the way and the store didn’t want to take it back. I spend $15 dollars in a horrible product that didn’t work and the owner doesn’t care about it.

Best selection of Beauty Supplies in town and affordable for the Midtown location! Store is very clean and the staff is helpful.
