Best nail salon I have found in this area. The salon itself is modern and clean. I always request Tina as my nail tech; She is meticulous, never rushes, and genuinely wants her clients to be happy with the finished result. 5 stars for Tina!
Came to this location for the first time since its close to my home. I will say the place is clean and the receptionist was nice. I came in to do a gel manicure (came out to $90 because I did French tips) First red flag is that there are no prices for manicures. My nails came out chunky and now a week later - the white tip is starting to fade. (Which is odd since I paid to get gel) I gave a tip even though my nails came out bad. The nail tech Mandy did not even say thank you. Safe to say I will never come back.
I had a terrible experience at this nail salon. Despite advertising a 5% discount for cash payments and having an ATM inside, the manager was not honest about the withdrawal fees. I specifically asked if there was a $3 withdrawal fee and was told there was only a $0.99 Honey withdrawal fee. However, when I checked my bank account later, I found that I had been charged $3. (That was my second time withdrawal money from nonbank ATM, I should’ve known that)
In addition, the prices at this salon are quite high. I paid over $60 for a gel removal and manicure, which is much more expensive than other salons in the area. To make matters worse, my nails broke just two days later. I am very disappointed with the service and quality of this salon.
This is my go to spot! They always do a great job and are super friendly. You can make an appointment over the phone or online. The gel rarely starts peeling and they take their time to do things well.
I walked in and asked about pricing which was decent, I get sent with Tina who starts working on removing my previous gel set. While it’s being soaked off, she takes me to get my brows done which weren’t perfect but whatever. We come back to her station and she discovers I have a broken nail and asks me what should she do. I said add an extension on the one nail and proceed. She does and adds it’ll be $10 more, I said what if I were to get all my nails with extensions. She responds $10 per nail so it’ll be $120 just extension (idk how she got the number there but whatever). We proceed and get to the ending of the service, I pay and she’s hovering over me while the receptionist explains that their employees don’t get paid well and rely on tip. I’m like I get that but she doesn’t need to be on standby making sure I tip her (when I already was planning on tipping), they could’ve included that in the gratuity if their employee depends on it. But she hovers and wait and I pay, which is really unprofessional considering it’s in New York City. Aesthetically, the place is pretty and clean. However, the gel manicure I got 3 nails cracked in less than 2 days. So were the nails worth it? No.
Update: I think you missed the bigger picture of the message. You aren’t paying your employees well to the point they’re harassing customers by hovering them for a voluntary tip. I get it they rely on it, but basic manners need to be taken place.
This review is long overdue. I’ve been coming to Honey since I moved to Long Island City (6 months) and have had an exceptional experience every time. The shop is so clean and organized, they’re always playing the best pop / r&b, and Jackie at the front desk is a whole vibe.
All of the technicians are great, but Yuki is incredible. So detail oriented and super sweet. I *always* look forward to my appointments with her!
First time here and I have to say the service was amazing! I am extremely pleased. It was also impeccably clean which is a plus! It was warm and inviting. Cherry was great. She knew exactly what I wanted for my gel manicure. These ladies are on top of their game! Thank you so much and I will definitely be coming back! Sorry! I actually wrote a review on the Jackson Avenue site but I’m sure they are amazing as well!
I was excited after trying this place because I felt I finally found a place in the area for my nails. I did uv gel extensions and they came out really nice. Unfortunately, when it came to fixing breakage, they lost me as a customer.
My extension (which are on the shorter end) broke after 5 days. I’ve done uv gel extensions before and this has never happened. For 125 dollars, this shouldn’t happen. I do not work with hands or do anything extraordinarily hard on my hands, but things happen and I wouldn’t exclusively blame the salon. I called asking when I could come in to fix. Couldn’t come in that day (my scheduling issue) so I made an appt for the following. I came 10 minutes early or so and was seated immediately.
This is where I got annoyed. The woman doing my nails refused to listen to me when I said I knew what color it was from the book if she could bring me the book. She kept pulling the wrong colors. She asked everyone who worked but me, for an opinion. The woman doing my nails was getting frustrated and said “I have a 3pm appointment now i need to go” (someone else came in and sat down for a gel mani) well that’s rude because I also had a 3 pm appt? It was clear she was rushing because I wasn’t paying and was just getting a mail fixed. They came over with two colors; one was the correct one, one was WAY more sheer. Everyone was crowded around insisting it was the sheer one and without asking which I wanted, they did the sheer, cured it and all said it was the right one. Considering they didn’t listen tp me for 10 min, I didn’t bother fighting. In the bright lights it looked fine. A little off, but fine. The shape was horrendous and my rounded nail was pointy and lopsided & she didn’t show it to me prior to painting but it’s on me for not saying anything.
Well, in regular lighting, the color is so off. The difference is clear as day and looks like my nail is a completely different color.
So, they do nice work, they’re expensive, and if you need something fixed, you will be rushed and treated as an annoyance.
Very professional and great quality. I love coming here. The staff is very friendly, the facility is spotless and modern, and they do an amazing job. The best nail salon in Long Island City, by far!
I love coming to this place because of Tina’s amazing customer service! I have been a customer for years and she has ALWAYS gone above and beyond to ensure a relaxing and perfect visit every single time. She always takes EXTRA care and has helped my nails grow from weak and fragile to healthy and strong! Tina was recommended to me by a neighbor a few years ago, and I can honestly say that I have NEVER experienced a technician as great as her - every service is always incredible, but her pedicures and massages are especially phenomenal!
Jackie and team are always welcoming and accommodating. They always make sure to call in the rare event that they’re running late, which I greatly appreciate.
The place is clean and quiet - i love coming here. Highly recommend! Ask for Tina!
Stumbled upon this nail salon and what a beautifully appointed space. Lovely people, calming atmosphere and more importantly, professional service. Love my nails
Adding on to my original rating - this salon remains one of my favorites! I’ve been 3 times now, and took my mom as well. The salon is always clean, and they do an incredible job with every manicure or pedicure. This last time I had a small injury on my thumb so I was worried that the acetone would really burn, and Young was really careful and attentive to do my nails without hurting it at all! Love this salon, and will be coming back again!
Ellie did a fantastic job on my mani/pedi! Very fast but careful & skilled. A bit pricey, but I’m happy to pay for great quality service in a clean and beautiful setting.
Honey Nails is-hands down-the BEST nail salon in LIC/Hunters Point/Astoria/Sunnyside! No other nail salon comes close, period. Every Honey Nails facility is impeccably designed, clean and pristine, and has a great selection of services. The staff are very friendly, on-time, and meticulous with their quality and routines. They also use professionally sterilized or brand new supplies for each customer and each station is spotlessly clean when you sit down. Finally, Honey Nails is incredibly modernized: booking and re-scheduling is a breeze to do online, they take payment via tapping (no rummaging for the card-I just tap and pay with my smart watch), and allow for tipping via Venmo (so I never have to worry about having enough cash).
Honey Nails is literally the reason why I have a regular self-care routine now, going every 2 weeks for a mani and neck massage-it's WONDERFUL! I even book "manicure dates" with my friends, and it's so easy to request getting 2 seats side-by-side. I truly love this place so much, and I'm so grateful they opened a new branch in Court Square. I literally can't go to other nail salons now-they're just not as good as Honey Nails!
If you go, I highly recommend trying out the Lakur nail polish brand. It's nontoxic, with super vibrant colors, and quite long-lasting (a regular mani stays good for at least 2 weeks!). I love adding a little sparkle overlay accent on my ring finger.)
Absolutely love getting my nails done here! I always get compliments on them!:) All of the staff are super welcoming and very friendly. I very much enjoy that I have a nail salon that is extremely reliable and creates a relaxing atmosphere for those much needed self care days.
I have been coming here for a year since I moved to LIC, simply due to convenience. Today I walked out on an appointment for a regular manicure when I was told it would be 20 DOLLARS EXTRA to take my gel off. Their prices are already high, but I am absolutely not paying 20 extra dollars just because I don’t want gel again. Save your money and go to a better nail salon in Astoria.
Had several bad experiences here, each time trying to give this place a chance - I feel for the technicians who are hardworking and great for the most part. The only bad one who did my nails cut my skin, which bled but the technician did not do anything other than wipe it with alcohol or let me get up to wash it properly.
I’ve only gotten regular manicures so can’t speak to the gel experience, but many of their polishes and the air itself is full of dust that look like clothing fibers. These fibers get embedded into the polish sometimes while nails are painted or while drying as the dust is expelled from the fans.
I’ve spoken to the front desk person about it trying to be helpful. She gave me a discount for the next time I came back and unfortunately the problem occurred again. This time my feedback was met with a lot of hostility and unprofessionalism. Will not return.
Finally a decent place to get a mani and pedi in the area! Manager is so sweet. Yo-yo did a great job with my gel mani and pedi. Yuki did my cute little flower design. Very clean and thorough business. Can’t wait to go back!
Firstly, it was almost 80 degrees in the salon and I was sweating. Then, my nail tech Tina said she could not do coffin nails…only almond shaped which I agreed to. After, she kept making comments that my nails would only last one week because of my skin? Why would I pay $45 for a gel manicure that lasts one week Lastly, I took an emergency telephone call while getting my manicure done and as soon as I hung up the woman at the front desk said “please do not talk on the phone you’re not the only one here”. It was a two minute phone call, don’t think I had the option of stepping out at that exact moment. Obviously I ended the call as soon as I could. There is a way to speak to customers and that’s just not it. It’s a no for me. Will not be returning, and will gladly go somewhere else.
