This was me and my son's first time ever coming to a skiing resort and I can not express how much fun we both had. Especially on the little tubers. He loved it. He had so much fun! Such a cute little town.
14 January 2024 14:35
I have been to several resorts in the PA/NY area, and this is by far my favorite. The town itself is a beautiful town, the resort is very nice and friendly. Prices are fair, and the slopes are long and far from boring. Many options and routes, and can easily spend a day here and get your money's worth. Parking is nearby the entrance to the resort, and also have a 5 min loading zone.

Best skiing in the East, hands down! Beautiful lodges and a family friendly atmosphere make Holiday Valley the premier skiing destination in the state!

I understand our given climate, but it should be criminal to charge this much for a day pass.

Update: I decided to pay over $100. Only two people were working in ticket office. Tenenbaum lift was closed and yodler broke down. What a rip off. This place has really gone “down hill” on the one good day of the year. This place was amazing growing up.

I give it 3 stars only because it’s the one place in WNY with snow …sometimes

Grew up skiing here and it’s always a fun time! Biggest hills around. Plus, Ellicotville has western mountain town vibes for a small eastern town.

I rode the coaster for the first time. It was a blast! So I rode it 5 times. We also took the lift to the lake. It's a very nice area with a small beach and fishing. No motorized boating or floating devices with motors. Great trails, zip line.
27 July 2021 9:34
Enjoyed walking around and riding the coaster. Would have liked two rides for the cost of the ticket. Taking the ski lift to the top was relaxing. Didn't ride the bike trails or zip-line but others seemed like they enjoyed it.

It's a great place to go skiing whether you're a local or somebody from out of town like myself (from NE Ohio). The runs their are a nice mix of beginner and upper mid tier terrain. Crowds can get a bit out of hand on the holidays like new years, but for the most part you will get up and down the mountain in little time. Really the only issue I have with Holiday Valley is the price of lift tickets, which run for $75 for a full day.
All things considered though it's a great family friendly resort which offers some of the best skiing around at a somewhat reasonable price.

Went there for the weekend with our church for a couple's retreat. Very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff was very flexible and helpful. Many things to do around the area. Grounds are very nice and inviting. Highly recommend for a getaway.

Far from the Rocky Mountains, and far from the high peaks of New England and the Adirondacks, I can safely assume that this is the best ski area in the US that isn't located on an actual mountain. Considering a 750 ft vertical drop is all they have to work with and all of their black diamond runs are fairly short, this place has a lot going for it. The unique shape of the hills give it excellent terrain variety and each area of the resort has it's own feel. The patch of old-growth forest pine trees at the top of Tannenbaum is beautiful, especially after a snowfall, and also makes for some awesome glade skiing. They get a ton of natural snow and the snowmaking and grooming are top notch - no matter how wacky the weather has been the trails always seem to be in good condition. An absolute ton of chairlifts and they are constantly improving them - it's obvious they put a lot of money back into the resort and they handle big crowds well. Amenities that rival the big resorts in Colorado, not even counting it's close proximity to Ellicottville, which has an awesome apres scene of it's own. If this place ever merged with HoliMont (look at an aerial view - a rope tow between the top of HV's Spruce Lake chair and their Sunset Chair would be pretty easy), this would be a serious winter sports destination. Don't go comparing it to Killington, Whiteface, etc because geographically that's just not fair - they really did an amazing job of carving a quality ski area out of the hills and hollows of WNY nowhere near an actual mountain range.

I have grown up skiing at holiday valley and love it so much. The workers are great and always treat everyone with such respect. I was in rangers for years and then moved up to screaming eagles which are both ski groups that have lessons every weekend. I feel a sense of community at holiday valley and wouldn’t want to ski anywhere else year-round. I am actually a ski instructor at holiday valley now and teach little kids how to ski as I was once taught by instructors in my shoes. Skiing is so amazing, especially first tracks. But don’t go at opening so I can have the the groomed tracks. The terrain parks are super well maintained and I spend a lot of time working on tricks in the park. I love mountain biking in the summer. The trails were just recently worked on and are in very good shape. The pools are great, the hotel is also very nice and well maintained. The golf coarse is very lush and taken care of very well. Spruce lake is beautiful and a good spot to spend the day on the beach. I recommend going to holiday valley at any time of the year, because there is an unlimited amount of things to do there.
29 April 2021 6:22
This is a great resort.everything is good.my only suggestion is that they should put the delicious belgian waffle stand on the map.
27 April 2021 14:39
We spent the weekend at the inn, our room was most literally ski in/ ski out, we were right next to the lifts! I absolutely loved it! If you have the chance to go during winter festival take advantage of it like we did! The fireworks were PHENOMENAL! Love love love Ellicottville!
27 April 2021 5:15
My Wife and I have been skiing together for 35 years! We both love Holiday Valley for the best NYS skiing experience! Terrific Terrain, Fantastic Staff and wonderful dining and entertainment options in the Village of Ellicottville! We'll be back and we always bring our Friends & Family!
23 April 2021 15:39
I couldn't give this place any less than 5 stars! It's very big and family friendly. The only thing I didn't like, and it might be due to covid. They didn't have benches at the top of the slopes. Other than that the trails are beautiful and well maintained. A ski lift operator was nice enough to quickly take our picture. My family and I will be coming back! This time we will be bringing our kids!
22 April 2021 11:16
Had a great couple days at the mountain. They were very accomodating at check in there was some bumps in the process that they took care of with a smile. From the check in to the lift attendants everyone I ran into there were very nice and wanting to help. I want to thank our person who check us in I believe her name was Ices I appologize if its wrong, she was great in a difficult situation and it was a line to check in. Thank you
19 April 2021 22:03
I loved every moment in there. Best family vacation. My ski instructor was the sweetest kindness knowledgeable girl. We loved it, planning on going back next year.
17 April 2021 23:05
I have been skiing here for many years now the conditions have always been very good. They have a great children program and race program. There is so many fun thing to do in winter and there are also thing you can do the rest of the year. I would definitely recommend skiing at holiday valley. And there are so many hills so as you get better at skiing there are new hills you can go on.
16 April 2021 6:57
I am here every week and the skiing and snowboarding are great. However, the dining is literally one of the worst experiences ever. I have tried just about everything and NONE of it is good. $5.75 for a slice of pizza which is worse than grammar school pizza made on bread. I’ve eaten at John Harvard’s as many times as I could take, and when I spend $30-40 on a ribeye and it tastes like lighter fluid, there’s a problem. There are a few really good people working there, but there are also some people who don’t care and treat the customers like garbage. I can deal with that, but the quality of the food is a total disappointment. Your prices are ridiculous and your food is awful. Change it and stop ripping people off.
13 April 2021 23:24
Decent variety of slopes. Not that many super easy ones for beginners that are long enough for good time. But besides that not a bad place! Very warm inside and has good food yet is expensive since it is a resort. Overall a good time.
12 April 2021 6:25
It was awesome. What a great experience for anyone. My advice is to get the holiday valley experience. You'll go any chance that you can.
10 April 2021 7:27
Best Belgian sugar waffle in the area. Wonderful treatment from chairlift attendants Davin (Eagle), Derek (Sunrise). However Dillon (Sunrise) needs some training for a smoother handling. And some guys are just pure brave.
07 April 2021 15:44
Facilities are very nice and always the best snow around. Only problem I have found is ticket purchasing does not make sense right now. They can only sell so many of each pass. They need to have it be just a grand total of passes sold. If I arrive at 6pm. The night pass is sold out but for another 20 some odd dollars I can buy a 4 hr pass. Should be the same thing or price at a specific point but I get it. That's business during covid
28 March 2021 22:23
I learned to ski on this mountain when I was 12. I've been coming back to visit at least once a year ever since. Love Snowpine Village. I've been here in good conditions and not so great conditions but it's always a magical experience to be on this hill. The village next door is straight out of a hallmark movie. Gorg. The staff always do a good job with the upkeep of the runs and with events around the mountain. I hope to stay visiting every year for a long time.
26 March 2021 20:30
It’s a real shame that the best ski resort in western New York is filled with such a horrible customer experience. From the lodge workers in the kitchen, to the lift workers they are all in such a horrible and defensive attitude that it’s actually hard to enjoy oneself. They truly run the holiday valley experience and make the trip less than enjoyable. I would highly recommend taking your money and time to the kissing bridge ski resort as it will save you money and Would be a much more enjoyable time. I hope that holiday valley can get they act together, not sure if it’s pay of employees or hours but it’s definitely not worth the money as is.
26 March 2021 14:50
60 trails, awesome mountain to ride at. Highly recommend if you haven’t been. Snow pine condominiums to ski down to your lift!
25 March 2021 7:36
Best resort in New York. Tons of trails and fast express lifts. Trails are not super technical. Pricy, but ski all day and you'll get your money worth.
24 March 2021 15:53
I've always loved holiday valley. I live about 2 hours away it its the best skiing around. Worth the drive, great runs and the lines usually move right along.
Bunny hill is great for teaching my boys ages 7 and 9.
Rentals are good quality equipment.
Food is good at the lodges, pricey but thats everywhere now I guess.
23 March 2021 12:38
If you're looking for a great Resort with all the amenities but not the heavy price tag check this place out you won't be disappointed
23 March 2021 12:35
We've been skiing here for over 30 years, and it's our favorite. They've continually upgraded and improved the facilities during that time, have great grooming and snow making, and run the place really well. Something I've also come to appreciate as I get older is that you seldom if ever see out of control skiers here, which is not something I can say about all the ski resorts in the region. They make the most of the vertical they've got, so even with just 750 feet, it still offers some great skiing for folks who like steep hills. At 3+ hours from home, it's by far the best skiing we can drive to easily.
23 March 2021 6:40
Great place for skiing, lots of slopes for different skill levels. Lines can be long at times in some of the regions. Also be warned the back parking lots are a bit muddy if warmer out. All in all really nice skiing, and the glades are favorites if there is enough natural snow coverage. During Covid they do a good job of enforcing masks and one way lines etc.
18 March 2021 22:18
A nice resort in a cozy small town. The staff is incredibly friendly & helpful. They do a good job w/ Covid restrictions as well.
17 March 2021 9:39
I got a Gatorade and a burger. The burgers cheese was not even melted and the Gatorade as still warm. I paid $19.50 for it. Would have much rather went to McDonald’s and got a quarter pounder meal with a drink and fries for 10 dollars and be filled up
15 March 2021 9:08
I loved it there, so fun! The fam had lot of fun.uncle john loved it.great job keep it going luvs <3 the kids really loved the popcorn and the candles make.just one suggestion though.next time make sure the rooms smell good because mine smelled bad had to stay out of the room a little.
12 March 2021 4:11
I’m actually really disappointed in this place. I went for the first time with my friends and nobody explained anything to us the entire time, we all really wanted to learn without constantly falling and getting hurt and there was nobody that cared. Oh well.
12 March 2021 2:45
Online ticket buying system is inadequate. Kicked me off 3x and when I call customer service they can't do a thing for me. Very disappointed. I hope its worth the hype because right now I am totally turned off by the service I have received. EDIT** It actually was a very nice place and the family enjoyed it. I am still annoyed by online system and the lack of help from customer service. Glad we went though!
10 March 2021 5:18
Great time at Holiday! I had great lessons with Stephen and a great time throughout all of the trails at HV. Always a great stay at Tammarack Club, no matter the seasons. Always very accommodating and prompt for customer service, you should enjoy EVL at Holiday!
04 March 2021 3:08
Lots of hills and the lifts were super fast! So much fun for my friends and I. Only downside was the the hills were a little icy towards the end of the day.otherwise, great place to ski!
01 March 2021 19:40
Loved the resort and there is nothing to complain about.

If you are a family with kids and love skiing, this mountain has something for everyone with varying skills. Slopes (greens) are definitely beginner friendly and they are wide enough for you to maneuver and take breaks if needed. While we were there, it received plenty of snow and it was a pleasant experience.

My favourite trails were: Mardi Gras, Tannenbaum and Spruce Line.

Staff were very helpful in answering any questions you might have.

This was a fun filled trip for us.
23 February 2021 23:02
Tons of lifts and runs, would recommend coming when the kids are in school though otherwise they overrun the whole place.
19 February 2021 10:10
I went to holiday valley for the first time. I have never skied before and I got lessons, my instructor for my first second and third lessons was Steve. He is a really good instructor and he helped me a lot. On my second day of sling I went on Marti gra hill thanks to him.
13 February 2021 12:32
First if all. PET FRIENDLY! Definitely a plus. We stayed at the Wildflower, although we packed like we were camping, they had everyday essentials ready for use, I did not use majority of things so I'm not sure if its complimentary or not and it was not specified. Full kitchen was the best considering our plant-based diet, and the supermarket was within a half mile of us. The guys at the rental store was super friendly and helpful during the exchange of my snowboard for skis.yea i sucked at snowboarding lol. Its just so many great things.check it out! Overall we will be back!
02 February 2021 22:44
Great slopes and runs with efficient rental services. It can be a little pricey but what ski resort isn’t? Overall, there is a good mix of runs for all skill levels. Would recommend going here over kissing bridge.
31 January 2021 6:11
If you go in and show them you want to work and that you are willing to do what is necessary to get the job done, then you will have no issues at all.
I really enjoyed my time working here and honestly regret leaving.
Covid 19 shut us down and I took the time to get my CDL and I wish I had just waited for this job to open back up. I truly miss it.
27 January 2021 12:00
Slopes were great today. Great staff. HV is doing a nice job making it as safe as they can for everyone at the resort. Everyone is masked up and lots of extra staff wiping everything down.
26 January 2021 12:50
Don’t waste your time here. Two older men took myself and my brothers pass all because they didn’t do their job and shut down the park properly.
08 January 2021 21:20
Hi!

I just wanted to let the team know that my two children had ski and snowboard lessons for the first time ever on 1/3/2021. I can not remember my son Cooper snowboarding instructor, but my daughter Jaxyn had Christian and Jack as her instructors and I was thrilled with them ALL!

They did such an amazing job being just chill and patient with them. They did not intimidate my kids at all and were so kind and chatty with them. The one instructor even watched the Bills game and took a selfie with my son on the chair life, my son thought this was sooooooo cool!

So please forward this to the appropriate people to let them know that the instructors are doing a phenomenal job and to keep up the great culture!

Thank you!
