Our group stayed in one of the guest rooms for 4 nights. Accommodations are excellent. Clean comfortable. Well furnished kitchen and clothes washer and dryer. Nice deck with gas grill
We rented e-bikes by the day. High quality well maintained bikes. Staff took their time to explain operation and ensure fit
Gave us great directions for a variety of rides
Walking distance to many sites shops and restaurants

We had a very memorable experience this weekend thanks to Brian and everyone at the shop. If you’re looking for a fun adventure, Brian recommended the perfect spot to canoe and camp out in Lake Placid. We rented a canoe for the full day and they went above and beyond giving us everything we needed for the trip.
Super Friendly and Helpful Staff! They took the time to ensure the mountain bikes we rented fit well and were in good working order.
We were given directions on where to head to enjoy some local trails which were a short ride away and we had a blast. Great spot to go for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced riders.
My weekend was saved! During a weekend getaway over Mother’s Day, I brought in my new Trek Supercaliber that had some shifting issues completely unannounced. Matt in service was quick to diagnose the problem, fix it in less than 30 minutes and provide some education on how I can solve it myself moving forward. Now I’m back up and running to enjoy the rest of my time here! Thank you Matt! HPC is a wonderful store that provides a great experience
The techs spent a lot of time educating me and fine tuning my new bike. The point of sale was just the beginning of services provided. Grateful for the level of care and depth of knowledge. 5/5 for customer service!
I needed a dropper post installed on my new Giant Stance 29 and the team at High Peaks did a fantastic job! I called and spoke with Gray first thing in the morning, and not only did he have the part but he was able to quickly install it for me that day. Great experience and top quality service. I would not bring my bikes anywhere else. Thanks again!
We took a family “fat tire bike tour” and could not be more impressed! The staff was awesome with us - ensuring each bike was the perfect fit. We were thrilled to have a private group tour with Trevor as our guide! He was knowledgeable, patient and friendly! I highly recommend this business and will be coming back for future bookings. They do everything from biking to skiing! Stop in for more information on all things outdoors!
I recently bought mountaineering boots here, Derick was very helpful with the boot fit and lacing techniques. Would highly recommend this shop based on the service we received. Also, I was impressed with the selection of women specific mountaineering boots this shop carries. I was able to compare boot fit of multiple brands and sizes side by side.
I came in with some friends to rent them some fat bikes. The representative that I spoke to on the phone quoted their rental at $40, though the actual 4-hour rental was $75. Given that high price, I would expect their bikes (which were a great brand/model) would be ready to go when renting. My one friend left with a rusty, loose seat post that immediately sunk into the frame, and my other friend with dog poop all over the tires and a poorly adjusted derailleur. If you want clean, inspected, and reasonably priced rentals, go somewhere else.
Average sho with good.mix of casual mountain, xbike and ebikes. Plenty of hiking stuff and of course, about 1/2 the place is clothes. There's a repair shop too, but didn't seem busy as it was wintertime. There's no consignment area anymore.
This store is first rate.they are experts who easily share their insights and spot on recommendations. The service and follow up is also excellent! I have had nothing but excellent experiences at this shop! Ray
High Peaks does a good job of having employees who are knowledgeable in what they are selling. Isiah was very helpful with upgrading my xc ski boots and bindings.
I bought a pair of skis and telemark bindings, as well as climbing skins from them. The prices were very comparable to what I could find online, and their service was SPECTACULAR. They trimmed the climbing skins for me for free, and Xander stayed late mounting the bindings to the skis so I could use them the next day (which was super kind). They are very nice, and obviously extremely passionate, knowledgeable about all the sports equipment they sell, and one of the few shops that has a full selection of telemark gear. Edit for covid safety: everyone wore masks at all times and they had hand sanitizer on hand.
Awesome guided ice climbing experience with high peaks cyclery. Gear was basically brand new, guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, and throughout the whole experience there was an emphasis on making sure we had the best time possible. HIGHLY recommend.
Went in knowing almost nothing about what gear I needed, the staff was very helpful and fit me for everything I would need to start backcountry skiing. I left with a full set of ski gear at a very fair price.
Matt was a wonderful help in answering any questions my wife and I had about the the trails and helped her solve a packing problem with her bag. Service was personable, professional and very efficient. Highly recommend you visit to help find a good hike for your skill level and to pick up last minute gear.
Matt was incredibly helpful. He took the time to listen to what we needed, gave suggestions based on his own experience, and went beyond all that to make sure we had the best experience possible. Highly recommend this place and talking to Matt. He's a wealth of knowledge and a great advocate for exploring the high peaks region.
Wowee! What a little gem. Don't let 'cyclery' deter you, this a fully equipped backpacking and hiking store as well! The staff are enthusiastic and dedicated. They truly help with your needs and recommend what they would use in the field themselves. I found all I needed and enjoyed an informative conversation about my upcoming adventure. I mean, New York sux, don't go to the Adirondacks (; Thank you High Peaks Cyclery Mountain Adventures!
The best equipment shop in town. Knowledgeable staff and excellent gear selection. Everything from camping and fishing to shoes and glasses, wetsuits, and more. Worth a visit
Owner not reliable. Took names ages of our 4 kids to rent fishing poles and never got back to us. Went to the store and had no memory of what transpired. No apology nothing. Had 4 disappointed kids
Always happy to shop here. Over the last few years I've bought skis here as well as clothes and gear for all seasons. Always received great service with a smile and lots of advice. There seems to be a nice diversity in experience and expertise here so if you're looking to do some Backcountry skiing, mountain biking, hiking, paddling, backpacking, or fishing there's probably someone working that day who does that thing and can help you out
I was in Lake Placid for a few days with my kids, and we went to High Peaks to rent bikes. Brian and his staff took the time to outfit us with the right equipment, gave us great trail maps and directions. The day on bikes was the highlight of our trip. I Highly recommend High Peaks to anyone looking for a great biking experience, great guys.
The bike repair team is fabulous. Zander went above and beyond to recommend trails and help trouble shoot our shifting issues. He fixed everything right up to get us on our way as we continued our travels. We had a Great experience! Highly recommend!
High Peaks Cyclery. I was a brand new cyclist. I called ahead of time and spoke with Derrek. I told him I was interested in getting into bikepacking. After a series of questions and narrowing down our options, I settled on a sick custom Salsa Cutthroat Apex 1. We set up an appointment & the rest is history. From the front desk, to the bike shop in the back, and the side connected backpacking shop, High Peaks Cyclery hooked it up. Such awesome people in every department. From the ground up they put together this custom Salsa Cutthroat together specific to my hight, weight, and reach. Souped up with a bike computer, 250 lumen tail light, taped orange drop handlebars, and packs to go along with. I’m ready!
