Hickory Hills golf course has made it to the top tier of my personal favorites. The price is great, the starter is knowledgeable, the facility is well maintained. But most importantly… they’re good honest people. I got a phone call on Wednesday morning at my office from the club house at Hickory Hills. They asked me if I was missing something dear to my heart from my previous round at the course. I couldn’t think of anything I had left behind. Winds up I left MY ENTIRE BAG IN THE PARKING LOT. Every club, boxes of balls, jackets and tees. MY WHOLE BAG. The kind staff at Hickory Hills found a receipt in my bag. Googled my name. Found the phone number of the place I work. Called my office. Asked for me. And returned my bag to me without incident. An absolute miracle. They single handily saved my golf career. Thanks Liz and Frank and everyone at the course. Will be back 10/10.
I played this course last week. The rough was so deep you couldn't find your ball on every single hole. It's not like the course was wet so I have no idea why it was like this. Yes, if you keep it in the fairway you'll be fine, but it was ridiculous.
Advantages: The price including the cart is reasonable, the course seems monotonous, but you have to think about it, and the ball is well maintained for each hole. The rangers and cashiers are kind. Cons: Rough grass, narrow fairways The slope is almost every hole, so the ball often dies. About half of the holes where the flagstick is not visible from the tee box…
Really beautiful, well-maintained course. Hilly, which makes it challenging, but the first few holes have wide fairways so you don't lose balls. Better get warmed up, though, because those fairways get tight and the woods are full of poison ivy. Driving range is short and irons-only, and open to anyone but really only useful for warming up before a round. Views from the course of the surrounding landscape are worth the greens fee alone.
A nice public course less than an hour away from NYC. Well kept and reasonably challenging, and the green fee is lower than other comparable courses! Should play during the week days.
My brother and i booked a tee time the day of for this course. Inexpensive and what a great round. We were able to go right out. There was no one waiting infront of us. Course was well maintained. Good track. My only gripe here were the greens and bunkers. Some were low cut and fast while others were not cut properly and were slow. The traps were more or less gravel bunkers without the sand. Mind boggling. So we gave ourselves free lies. Why not. Other than that i will gladly cone back and play here.
