I recently received a facial from Cashay and I loved it! She really knows how to make someone feel comfortable and relaxed. She offered me some complimentary kombucha to start and walked me through the whole process. I love how she informs me on all of the products she uses and explains how it will help and what it does to my skin. I can tell she really knows her craft. I have my next appointment with her in 3 weeks and I cant wait for my next facial. 10/10 would recommend.

Cashay did an amazing job with my facial. She was kind, gentle and walked me through every step of what she was doing. She also removed all of my blackheads. The space is also nice and new. I highly recommend her for your skin needs.

Nicole recently did a color, trim and silk press on my hair and it was beautiful. I am pushing into week two and my hair has retained it's body and moisture like the day I left her salon. I only pin curl it at night and shake it out in the morning. Her new salon is beautiful, so bright, calming and inviting. I strongly recommend you make appointment for a service.

I have been going to Nicole for quite a few years now. She has helped my hair to grow so much. Nicole knows what to do to help your hair get healthy. Definitely recommend HJ’s as the go to salon.

Nicole is great and awesome hairstylist. The new salon has great vibes and the location is much easier to access. Looks clean and luxurious with the black and white decor.

I went in there and waited for 3 hours to get my hour done and it cost 350 and not what i wanted never go there they are terrible and the lady didn't have the hair i wanted and i was in there for 5 hours in total

I got to my appointment at the verbally agreed upon time but the shop was bordered up. I called and was forwarded to the stylist/co-owner Nicole’s cell phone. She said they’d schedule me for 45 minutes later, she wouldn’t be there for over an hour, and that I had to go to another salon down the street that was their “temporary location. ” I was concerned with the lack of communication on their moving locations, the scheduling error, and unapologetic behavior of the staff. As a nurse and mom of a young baby, I value my time off and away from my son and want others to respect that time too. This establishment obviously does not. I said I wanted to cancel my appointment and get a refund of the money I paid upfront because I couldn’t wait, to which the stylist/co-owner reluctantly agreed, but later I realize she only reimbursed me half of the $100 they charged my card when making the appointment. She wrote in a text that was later sent to my cell that I wanted an early time that she couldn’t accommodate. This simply was not true. I wanted the time I scheduled and to be notified in advance of their change in location. It is absurd that they kept $50 from me though they were the ones who made a mistake. They also never told me about any policy that could allow them to charge whatever fees they want without providing a service or even be at the agreed upon time and location to conduct business. Obviously they don’t care about customer service, satisfaction, or good business practices. I do not recommend going there or letting them make charges to your card prior to receiving the service you’ve requested.

I got my hair relaxed for the first time ever yesterday and it was an amazing experience! Nicole is so sweet and the place had a great atmosphere and was very clean. Nicole took her time on my hair, never yanking at it or anything like that. My only issue was that I was quoted a slightly lower price over the phone to what I paid. It’s not a big deal though. I would rather pay more and have the incredible results I had than to pay less and look crazy! - I only lowered my review after realizing I was consistently getting burns in my following appointmens. Otherwise everything is good.

There are many reviews here for the salon and I went to the salon to do a makeup trial and loved it.  I will be going to them to get my shoulder length 4c hair pressed and trimmed and for extensions going forward. But really, this review is to help any Brides looking for someone to do hair and makeup for their wedding. LISTEN, BOOK Nicole and Tara! They are the most professional,  most personable,  and most talented hair and makeup team in upstate, Catskills, Capital Region, Saratoga Spring NY area. And trust me, I did tons of research to find them! They traveled two hours by car to style me for my wedding in the Catskills mountains. And their pricing was absolutely reasonable for me and my mother, my cousin and my best friend. The morning of my wedding, Tara and Nicole showed up on time and made what could've been a stressful morning so relaxing. It was like having two more friends in the room. My caterers said they could hear us all laughing upstairs while we were getting ready. I loved that before the wedding, Nicole always answered emails within an appropriate time frame and that their appointment system sends out reminders the day before any appointments. The last thing you want to worry about on your wedding day is that your makeup and hair person might not show up - but I felt confident, even with the 2-hour drive in the mountains with minimal service, that they would be there on time and they were!

Makeup: I was nervous about finding the right person. Someone who could match my brown skin tone (no gray face or mismatched foundation) and give me a glam, natural and glowing look. Tara put me at ease! She listened to what I wanted and offered great suggestions, but never made me feel bad for my choices. My trial went amazingly and the wedding day look was even better! Honestly, if I ever go to another event, I'm going to get my makeup done with her. My cousin, best friend, and mom also got their makeup done. Each has their own unique style and has slightly different shades of brown skin and they all LOVED their make-up and looked amazing - both in person and in the photos. That's right! None of that, your makeup looks caked on in person but will look good in photos. My makeup looked great both in person and in photos!

Hair: Nicole did an amazing job on my hair. I needed someone who was comfortable with natural, kinky hair because I wanted to wear my 4 c hair down and natural. I bought clip-ins for length and I could tell by the ease with which Nicole inspected them that she was a pro. She had no problem styling my hair to match the kinky clip-ins perfectly! And I was not an easy bride. At the last minute, I told Nicole I wanted to incorporate a braid into my hairstyle, and she thought about it and immediately got to work. She came up with such a beautiful and creative hairstyle incorporating the braid. Everyone at the wedding complimented me on my hair.   It was exactly what I was looking for - a Solange meets Issa Rae look for my rustic bohemian wedding dress. And all this glamming was done quickly and on time so that I could take some professional pictures and still start our ceremony on time!

I’ve been extremely thankful to have met Nicole at Hair Journeys. After moving to the area, I was lost on where to get my hair done. It’s always scary moving someplace new and building trust all over again with your hair. Everyone in the salon is wonderful and talented. I’m self employed and it’s an absolute treat to talk shop while having your hair needs met! My hair has been in the best shape its ever been, and it’s hard for me to want to trust anyone else with my hair.
I’m an artist and I love color. I always get compliments on my hair wherever I go. Nicole has been with me for the entire journey of my hair. When we met my hair was very long compared to now. The same amount of attention and care is given no matter the length, something I really really appreciate.

No idea seems to crazy or wild. For the first time, I feel I can ask for anything within the limits of my hair, and if I had any questions, she’s happy to talk through everything. I’m so used to being shut down for even asking about bold hair colors in the past. She’s helped me feel confident not only in my hair but I’m asking for specific styles or colors too! I used to be a little shy when asking about things! It’s refreshing to give an idea a chance and for it to be such a fun inspiring experience in a uplifting positive environment.

Ive been a client for 5-6 years. I’m very happy with everyone at this salon and will continue to come back for more services!

I came in one way and left totally transformed. Nicole the owner is very professional and personable. She went above and beyond to get me my desired look, wish I could give 100 stars. Great job guys, keep up the great work.

My 14 year old daughter had to sit in a chair from 12pm -8pm without food while getting her hair braided. They took many breaks. Her appointment was suppose to be at 1pm on sept 1st called at 11am and said it was at 1115. Checked email and the email said it was on sept 2nd and had two different times on the email. They stated they sent me a text message, I told them I didn’t receive a text message, they read my number to me and they had my number in the system wrong. They kept telling me another hour another hour. I drove a hour and a half with my other four children. This was the worst experience EVER! Will never return again!

The first experience with this salon (for my friend) was great. They were so friendly and very helpful; unfortunately this wasn’t the same experience for the second time. I brought my friends daughter to get boxed braids and things were a bit of a mess. First off, the appointment time communicated at booking was not accurate and they did not write down my friends number correctly so she wasn’t notified of the correct information. Additionally, the email confirmation had a different date and time, which made it more confusing. Luckily I happened to call on my way (we live 1 1/2hrs away) to see if we could come early only to find out this information, but this issue caused us to be an hour late for what time they expected. When we got there they were super nice and took her right in. I’ll admit, I’m Latino and know very little about how long braids take so I asked how long I should expect- I was told 5 or so hours. Every time I asked my friends daughter the time got longer- I was a bit frustrated because I had my 3 month old and 3 other small children with me. I understand these things take time but if I had been more informed I could have planned better, the whole thing took about 8 hrs. Never the less I was frustrated about the time issue and how long it took but her stylist was super apologetic and so nice about everything so I was convinced I would definitely return and even book my younger son an appointment because he has super curly hair. Unfortunately I was very sad to learn that while my friends daughter was having her hair done Nicole was saying not so nice things about myself and the situation. I understand the need to vent and update what was probably her business partner, but to do it in front of a teen client was so unprofessional. Also putting me down because I kept saying I had my 3 month old with me, which I only brought up as to express why I was so upset with the lack of communication. Also, saying “these kind of people don’t know about cultural hair” was just so completely disrespectful. No, I don’t know, which is why I asked. It is not unreasonable for me to expect a professional to give me an idea of a time frame it takes to do something they do all the time. Looking up this business I am so disheartened to see it’s Veteran led. As a disabled veteran I would expect more integrity out of a veteran led business. I really wanted to like this place because her hair did look great, but the disrespectful things that were said doesn’t make this possible.

Absolutely awful experience at Hair Journeys. Will NEVER EVER GO BACK. After my 15-year-old daughter spent 9 hours in her chair (two of those hours she wasn’t attended to at all) I came to pick her up an hour after closing time to braids that were not only unfinished but sectioned so horribly it was embarrassing. The owner tried to argue with me like I didn’t know what I was talking about and then in the end still charged me $260. I knew that the box braids started at $180 but I was appalled that she still charged me for an unfinished and terrible job. I ended up paying because I just wanted to get out of there. After a few days she agreed to refund our money, when I went to go pick it up she refused to give it back because we had left a negative review on her Google page.
