The dishes were average. So were the cocktails. We couldn’t order what we wanted cause at 1 PM they already run out of two positions from the menu. The waitress dropped the bread on the floor during service. Despite booking in advance and paying a heafty deposit we weren’t let to the table before the third party to our small group arrived, which is a policy that is extremely rude to the guest and also to the detriment of the business itself: the first impression that your guests get is that you are disrespectful. Also, you limit the time during which the guest could be making orders. All in all very disappointing.

Restaurant with excellent cuisine and friendly staff. The only things I didn't like were the stuffed animals: really disturbing

Terrible service and rude kitchen staff running out to police the bathrooms (has nothing better to do). I accidentally went into the employees bathroom and was chased out by a kitchen staff with insults after insults. He could've asked me nicely to not use it next time. This is not how you should treat your customers or people period! I've been coming here since it opened but the level of quality has gone garbage. The manager did nothing to correct it. This place is beyond disappointing!

This review is specifically about the catering experience. The woman who runs it has a nasty attitude and acted as if she was doing me a favor by hosting my event. They then did all sorts of wizardry with my bill costing me an additional $1K. Unfortunately, the staff and food are lovely so I feel bad that she’s the person representing them. I do not recommend hosting an event here.

The Steak was a bomb - even though the sauce was really good, I ate it plane. The side-dishes (squash and carrots) were also exceptionally good and came with interesting flavors. My only critics are, that the air condition was too strong and it was too noisy for my taste. All in all however, absolutely recommendable and memorable place!

This is a cool, bustling restaurant with great lighting, found at the end of an alleyway. I loved the atmosphere. The drinks were great too and our barman very attentive. I would say the food is ok and a bit overpriced for the quality but the overall experience is great.

It’s been a while since this place was cool. So over restaurants that dim their lights and try too hard with the antique / eclectic vibe- feels like it’s just a cover up for a run down location and poor cleaning.

It's a cool place! I went to an event that was hosted on the second floor and it was very cozy, and all the staff were courteous!

My goodness the cocktails, I'm sad to say I don't remember the bartenders name, i blame jetlag but he told me some really interesting facts about how there were designed and really added to the amazing flavours. The atmosphere was excellent, and the food was great, can't wait to go again

Aesthetically an incredible place. Food was excellent. What let’s the place down is service. Staff are slow and inattentive - almost disinterested in customers. Not being able to carry a tab over from the bar to your table is crazy. Much room for improvement.

We were led here by my wife's colleagues when we visited NYC. The alley was very colourful and interesting. When we entered the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by the staff. The staff here was very pleasant and really accommodating to our needs and helped us with our napping toddler. The food was superb and the atmosphere was cozy. I had a great time there.

Freemans has a great ambiance, which might be a theme in places I like. I find service to be as important as the food served. And they do both very well. The whole fish is my go to order as I don't live in NYC so this is the first restaurant I visit each time I'm in town for the US Open or visiting friends.

Traveling to New York City on a work trip after a long day, was looking for a great bite to eat with amazing atmosphere read the reviews and thought this was the place.

Walked into many open tables, decided as I was solo and needed to get some work done. I would sit at the bar or small hightop around the corner from the bar.

As I told the hostess team at the front, I was just going to take the small hightop and grab a bite to eat. As I had some work to do. I was immediately told that they do not allow laptops when I asked as to why I was informed that it was due to the fact that it is a fine dining experience

This location, atmosphere, and attire from the staff screams anything but a fine dining experience. The fact that somebody who is wearing jeans and a short sleeve plaid shirt wants to tell a patron that they cannot use their laptop at the bar in the corner hightop away from anybody’s viewing is disturbing.

I am well traveled and well experienced in fine dining and do understand that there is a time and place for electronics to be permitted in any type of an atmosphere. Always wanting to be respectful I made sure that when I ventured out the location in which I chose would not be a Michelin star restaurant or a restaurant, where a dress code is required, thus defining an elevated restaurant experience.

Do not recommend nor will ever be back.

Additionally, the alleyway to get to the restaurant was just serving with the two homeless men, and one of which was hiding his drugs and alcohol, while screaming at passersby, the other urinating in the corner.

Way too expensive for what it is! The food is really nothing special. Certainly the place is nice and the setting is pleasant and intimate, but the prices are exorbitant for a very basic quality of food. Go your way, you will find better and cheaper elsewhere

Food is good and atmosphere is very New York, graffitied Alley and very rustic look. Service is great. Worth a trip.

A good place to stay away from Times Square and its hustle and bustle but just a few minutes from the main monuments.

Hosted private lunch in the Wine Room — great pricing, plenty of food and impressed by pre-fix list to choose from in advance. Enjoyed cocktails & wine, semi-private space.

Food is super fresh ingredients cooked to perfection
Atmosphere and decor is carefully crafted and is excellent
Staff could be a little overwhelmed by how busy it could get but such is the nature of these kinds of places

Super good date spot

This is some of the worst food I've had in a long time. The only thing giving this restaurant more than one star is the relatively unique location and vibe of the restaurant. To start we had the artichoke dip which was fine and pretty generic. We ordered the burrata salad to share but asked for the stone fruit on the side as someone in our group has an allergy. When the salad came, nothing was separated and when we told the person (not our server) delivering the dish we had asked for it separate due to an allergy, he just mumbled something and walked away with a confused face. Our server came by about 10 minutes later and said she's take the salad off our bill (thanks?). The entrees were just not good. The cavatelli was nearly flavorless. The sauce on the NY strip steak was gross.it tasted like the acid in the back of your through when vomiting. The bottles of wine were insanely expensive. While the server was nice, she rarely came to the table.

Add this to quickly growing list of Manhattan restaurants with bad food, lackluster service, and stupid high prices.

2 months ago I dined at Freeman’s Alley, and I must say that for the price, the food was quite disappointing. The dish of artichoke tasted more like a breadbasket than a flavorful delicacy. However, I appreciated the excellent service, especially their assistance to my mom, who doesn't speak English.

Regrettably, for Argentine tourists, the prices were too high, and the overall experience didn't justify the cost. It seemed more like a place suitable for taking photos at the entrance rather than enjoying a satisfying meal.

For a much better experience, I highly recommend checking out ABC Kitchen. The service there is top-notch, the dishes are delicious, and the prices are similar, making it a much more worthwhile choice.
