Sadly I injured my back under the supervision of their personal trainer. The gym suspended my membership, but other than that they didn’t offer any relief, compensation or apologies. I am very disappointed and others should be aware that my injury required medical attention and therapies I had to pay for.

Definitely one of my favorite Equinox locations! Check in staff are always friendly. Exercise equipment is great but the stair-masters location on the floor is a little tight. I can always get a good steam session in the women’s locker room and the cold shower plunge inside makes it all worth it! I head downstairs for a nice back and forth in the jacuzzi and cold plunge and I am golden! ️️️️️

This equinox is frequently crowded. I visit at all different hours and the location is so full I’m not able to use the machines that I want. Also the pool and sauna are so full I cannot use them. For the amount I’m paying for the destination, I’d expect to be able to get my workout in without having to wait in line.
28 November 2023 15:05
I was ripped of with almost $2,000 by Equinox. I requested a frizz on my account because I was leaving the country. I called multiple and emailed this location and Equinox every time a charge to my card was made to tell them to stop and they continued to take the money from my account without my permission and against my will.

Equinox is robbing people.

Also, this location is tiny; it only has one leg press machine and only one machine to do other work out, and is lacking many machines.

Please note: at this location you will find needles on the steam room floor.

I am looking to submit a lawsuit online against them.

Place is one of the worse Equinox in the city. The fact that they made it a “destination” location is sad. The gym floor is small barely any equipment they give the cardio equipment more space then actual gym equipment. Oh yea the gym floor is on all multiple levels. You need to go up or down 2 full flight of stairs to get from one floor to the next. Very few legs machines. The people there are entitled i noticed. Only reason there making this a “destination” location simply because of the plunge pool THAT IS ALWAYS OUT OF ORDER. When it is working 50+ degrees. Stay away
27 August 2023 4:55
Is it so hard to explicitly list which locations are 'destination'? I walked in 90 degree heat to get to this location only to find out it's a destination location. No where on the website does it state such. What a complete waste of time.
04 March 2023 10:52
At some point last year, this Equinox decided to become a “Destination” and is no longer available for you unless you buy into an upgraded membership. I’ve gone several times this year, and experienced days when the hot tub, steam rooms, and pool was out of order. Today, I was told I no longer have access to the gym because I haven’t upgraded. Don’t go unless you want to pay more for less. LifeTime Fitness in midtown and beyond is an impeccable alternative for less money.

This is one of the better Equinox locations I've been to. I like their facilities though spread out on several different floors and involves lots of stairs. Men's locker room is well maintained. Soap dispensers always work and are filled. It's the little things in life. The front desk staff are especially polite. 12/19/22 downgrading my previous glowing review. They closed the spa section, pool, hot tub and etc, without putting any notices up in the gym. I got an email last week about the steam room being out of commission, but not one about closing the spa. They could have posted notices a month in advance. Is it reasonable to expect someone to call each and every time to make sure the facilities are up and running and accessible?
19 February 2023 6:02
The pool is a little short but it gets the job done. Super gross when sweaty folk jump into the ice plunge/spas without showering first (as required but not everyone follows this basic, common-sense rule) - need more vigilance down there - yuck. The rest of the gym is fine - the boxing class is pretty fun and can get some work done on techniques
01 February 2023 23:54
Last Saturday I took 4 guests to the gym. The passes were given to me by the gym and it was amazing. My guests and Myself had such great time. They explored the work out, pool, sauna, jacuzzi and much more.
Thank Equinox for such great time you
Provided with your free passes given to me and for this wonderful Gym which I have been member since 2016.

One star deducted because you have to pay a destination membership here even though I don’t think it warrants the price tag compared to the other destination locations. Also, when there are promos and you can bring guests, guests are excluded from the destination locations, but they aren’t excluded from this one: “Guest pass excludes our Destination locations: Hudson Yards, Equinox Sports Club Upper West Side, Greenwich Avenue & Printing House. ” So it feels like even Equinox knows this isn’t a true destination tier, but still charges that.

Otherwise, I would give a 5 star just for the amazing maintenance crew in the women’s locker room. I come here 3-4 times a week in the mornings and see the same cleaning lady. She doesn’t just clean… she CLEANS! She gets her elbow grease into it, getting on ladders to clean the fans, wiping down all the lockers, getting into the gaps between the benches, polishing the mirrors, spraying down the showers, everything. The detail and effort with which she cleans amazes me. I never see her stop cleaning and I have peace of mind knowing this space is super clean. (I wish I caught her name tag but she’s always working so hard I can’t catch her name). I’ve been to a lot of the other locations and while those are nice and clean too, it’s never to the standard that this lady keeps it at.

The pool area needs severe attention.dirty towels are all over the place, people using cell phones and taking pictures when all along I was informed no cell phones were allowed in the pool area.
People not showering before getting into the cold plunge or sauna. It wasn't always like this.gym has gone downhill.
Managers are useless.they don’t want to be bothered. Seriously considering terminating my membership.
23 October 2022 23:45
The staff at the retail store, Christina and Alexandria are fabulous, lovely human beings. And they even know style too! I always get greeted and they are there to assist, never looking annoyed or too busy to bother. Love this place!

I am an Equinox member and went to the spa for a hydrafacial. Warning, they market this as a hydrafacial and it's a bait and switch - the esthetician fumbled with the machine for a few minutes and just touched my skin with it maybe 5 times and did not complete the whole process. Instead she gave me a facial with different and more expensive products trying to push me to buy them. The whole thing left my skin red and broken out. To add to this, the manager, Bianca Rose, could not have cared less and did not respond to emails. Further, the concierge Equinox did the exact same thing and ghosted me. This club is unprofessional, not luxury nor respects its members. I have been loyal for over 7 years and will be canceling my membership. Show respect to your paying members.

I love this localização bc is very close the market and subway - the gym is great. There are many options classes and sauna is good and very clean.

I used to be an Equinox member several years ago, but am not currently - today's experience reminds me why!

A friend gave me a generous gift for a massage at this 63rd St Spa location. The initial time he scheduled was a placeholder. Today when I called to rebook for a specific time that worked for me, the person who answered the phone could not have been more rude, abrupt, and unhelpful. She gave me absolutely no information, when I said what I needed to do, she just barked 'when do you want to come? " I would have expected a confirmation on the massage therapist I might currently have booked, days/times that person was available, possibly other options, but no, none of that. When I asked her to confirm the massage therapist I was already booked for, I heard a heavy sigh and then she said 'yes. ' After a couple of tense back and forths where I was guessing times she finally said 'fine' when I hit one that worked and then after a few seconds, hung up and ended the call.

The whole experience was extremely unpleasant and now I'm actually dreading my appointment. Not exactly what you want for an expensive 'luxury' service! To make things worse, the appointment confirmations keep going to the text and email of my friend who made the appointment - it would have been great if the booking person had given me an option to change the notifications, as I clearly told her that someone else had booked it for me.

I called the Equinox main customer service line to lodge a formal complaint however after sitting on hold for 30 minutes I gave up. This level of customer service seems unacceptable for a company trying to promote itself as a luxury brand.

Definitely one of the better Equinox locations in the city! (As it should be since it's a Destination Access location and the flagship location in the UES!) Spacious, clean and lots of equipment. It's not too crowded during the day but it can get pretty crowded during peak hours - but that's a given at any business. I haven't had any issues with the staff that were mentioned in other reviews so I never felt uncomfortable working out here.
07 May 2022 6:11
Great classes. Good workout equipment and plenty of cardio machines. This location has a pool, but it is short and crowded. The locker room has a heater floor which is excellent in the winter. I'm knocking it down a star because the multi-floor layout is awkward.
01 April 2022 3:40
Second what Chris said in the previous review.avoid Rachel Cohen at all cost. She would literally provide you the incorrect rate trying to scam your money
01 March 2022 15:36
Gavonte was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all the different locations and amenities. The process of signing up was seamless. I would give 20 stars if I could!
09 February 2022 16:13
Hello,

I am an all access member. The gym I currently go to is 63rd street & Lexington Avenue. Hours have been REDUCED by 2 hours due to Omricron with out any prior notice. The club does not care about the health or safety of its members. The gym is significantly more crowded. The price is the same. I will leave terrible reviews on all social media. I reached out to Eqinox many times and the only response is that hours will be re-evaluated as membership goes up. Nothing is offered to regain a loyal paying customer.

Terrible gym- terrible management
24 January 2022 12:56
Excellent club.

Gavonte Carter is an incredible rep for the company - customer service at this level was exceptionally appreciated. Highly recommend reaching out to him and finding a membership at this location.

Lost my shoes first time, and another pair (cheap running shoes) a few weeks later. Either the attendants are robbers or there’s another ring of thieves. Don’t wear anything valuable here!

This review comes from a female, after having 2 children and not exercising properly for a couple of years.

It was important for me that my next physical endeavor is one that will stick, based on lots of self care, a good routine and a wide range of relaxation and spa options, a wide range of cardio options and classes that would power me out, and a beautiful setting.

I did a lot of research based on these things and found this particular Equinox. I was worried when I went to my tour because I didn’t know if it would be my scene and if I would be comfortable there.

Gavonte was my first contact person and I was really blown away by his kindness and sensitivity. He made me feel right at home, took notes, showed me around and made this first visit so much fun. He did not push anything on me and that felt so honest and good. I signed up. He also immediately set up my assessment with a trainer he thought would be a great match.

2 days later I had an assessment with Liza, my new trainer. She was also so kind and sweet, very professional and knowledgeable and made the assessment fun. The following day I had my complementary training session with Liza. She came fully prepared based on the issues we had discussed. The session was amazing and I booked more sessions with her.

The whole facility has everything anyone could imagine, from a pool, sauna, steam room, beautiful yoga studio, Pilates studio, boxing room etc. You can download the app, go through the entire schedule so easily in the app and get notified when registration for your classes starts. It’s really fun.

Signing up to this Equinox was the best thing I’ve done for myself all year. I love going!
10 January 2022 22:17
Gym okay. Facilities newly renovated. Price overpriced. Clean environment. Very tiny shower booth. Staff okay
03 January 2022 6:20
I've never fully invested in myself when it came to the gym. At best I would start a membership at a low-cost gym and never make it there, feeling uninspired by the facilities. Today I decided I would change that, and found my way to this facility.

After signing up for a tour, I was immediately contacted by Gavonte who offered to see me the very same day. I'm so glad to have connected with him - he took the time to really listen to my story, my wants and needs, what I was looking for, and what my plans in committing were. Every step of the way he was patient and receptive, never pushing me a direction I didn't want to go, and sharing with me all the ways I could maximize my investment.

I left a new member of Equinox at E 63rd St. I can say for sure this is not only due to what was offered at this particular location, but also because of my experience with Gavonte. He made me feel that this commitment and investment in myself is worth it, something I absolutely needed to hear and feel. I would recommend him to any prospective client, he'll take great care of you!

I've been to like 5 Equinox locations, got my membership a few days ago. This one is my favorite so far! Nice jacuzzis, steam and sauna on the same level are large and clean, and the staff is attentive. Will probably be my home gym.
16 December 2021 8:26
They charge my card for the trainer mistake and I’m asking to cancel my membership but response
16 December 2021 0:30
The personal trainers at this particular equinox dominate the floor often taking up two or even three mahines at a time. They also tend to be rude if approached to use one of the machines. The client base is rude and usually there are at least two members on their speaker phones on the gym floor while I'm trying to workout. The managment is ineffectual. I've been told to address the issue with a floor trainer/ monitor but there are none. After approaching one member to lower their voice, I was verbally assaulted by them and felt at risk of a physical confrontation. The management did nothing except but get annoyed at me for complaining. The gym also does not monitor safety. The gym floor is small and members put others at risk by misusing equipment. The air conditioning system has also been broken for mostof the summer. UPDATE I am bumping up to 3 stars from 1 star beacuse Equinox has been responsive to my feedback. - That means alot, I'd say.
10 September 2021 16:43
I was excited to use this gym, but was extremely disappointed in my experience in the shop. I was told I had a discount on my first purchase, so I decided to try on a few shirts. The employees there were incredibly rude, acted like I was a giant inconvenience and gave me terrible attitude (while talking about the coffee they were going to get for breakfast). I will never come back to this location after that experience
10 August 2021 17:01
Was convenient location to get my laps in. Hot/cold plunge saved my legs after logging miles. Robert is the best coach and scheduled run/bike/swim classes consecutively for those looking for a brick workout. I’m just bummed I no longer spend enough time in NYC. Would love to see an Equinox open in Palm Beach!

Collegiate swimmer here with a pool review!

Overall, gym isn’t bad. Just need to be aware of a few things about the pool if you’re a dedicated or recreational lap swimmer:

-On early mornings, evenings after 7pm, and weekends, the pool is extremely, extremely busy. Average wait times during those hours are approaching an average of an hour or two wait to use a lane. You can’t reserve a lane, it is first-come-first serve, which means that you must wait in line in order to maintain your seniority in line, which means waiting by the pool for an hour or two.

-Swim times are 30min max - NOT 30min to swim, 30min from when they call your name to when you must exit the water. Theoretically, if no one is waiting in line behind you for your lane, you may continue longer (which means don’t swim on weekends or on week nights if you want more time).

-Swim cap must be worn at all times while in the water, no matter the stroke or exercise.

-Pool closes at 9pm on week days, and - again - very long waits for a lane after 7pm, so don’t plan on swimming if you don’t make it to the gym before about 6pm or earlier.

If you’re cool with these very short swim times and you don’t like swimming at night anyway, then it’s a wonderful gym! Obviously a little expensive and may not be worth the huge cost for you, but for all other weight lifting or cardio classes it may be worth the money. In my personal opinion as an avid swimmer with a huge interest and extensive background in swimming, however, I would argue finding other pool options first that are much more ideal and much more worth the price for what you get. Most city pools should be back in service by summer 2021.
22 April 2021 22:03
Nice place I am a member 2 years already, nice people are working there, the price a bit experience for a gym but it’s close to my house so.
I recommend this place.
20 April 2021 8:27
I would like to thank your sales team member Suzan, who is very hospitable, courteous, and dedicated. Equinox is definitely a world-class gym that does not need my compliment to address how great the facilities are. Shortly, Equinox is the Hilton of all gyms.
15 February 2021 20:42
I am a member of Equinox and was attempting to refer my girlfriend for a discounted corporate membership. Several membership representatives explained there was a promotion going which included a $100 gift card. As such, we proceeded to have her join while working with Rachel Cohen who works as a corporate sales manager. We later found out that the sales contract did not include the promotion and requested it be included. Rachel tried to explain that this promotion wasn't in place now which seemed strange as that wasn't what we were told.

After additional conversations with other managers we determined that she made a mistake and forgot to properly reflect this promotion in the membership. We attempted to contact Rachel, but she was elusive, rude and would either hang up or refuse to speak with us about the issue. Be careful to avoid her at all costs.

Not 100% sure what the reason behind low scores are on this location, but personally speaking this location is in my top 3 visited across the city. I can do my entire bulking routine here. Maybe the only thing I wish there’d be is more variety of barbell free weights upstairs. Very clean and very friendly staff!
01 May 2020 16:46
Theis location is usually jam packed during the normal hours just a fair warning and if your not an early riser be prepared to have to wait for machines due to multiple trainers hogging the machines. The steam room at this location (mens) is absolutely horrible and the overall quality since the investor scandal that was a trump supporter was exposed members like myself have clearly seen a decline in services. I've had 2 family members join because of me and they experienced body shaming in the pool area and two of my asian friends experienced discrimination. Managment doesn't address things like this in a timely manner
I travel often and noticed that in other states (Connecticut, Mass, Vienna Va) are horribly small and doesn't match what I was charged for all access. All these things are a result of me cancelling my membership after being a member for more than 2 years.
07 April 2020 5:26
I’ve been going to Equinox for 13 years. I didn’t consider this location since it wasn’t nice at all before. But! Now this place is newly renovated. Nice and super clean.
Didn’t have any issues with management. I think they are doing a very good job.
Personnel is very friendly. Cleaning ladies are quiet and keep the gym perfectly clean. After each class in the yoga studio they sweep the floor. They put mats for you, take to wash them after each class, organize the equipment in studios non-stop. I give them 10 out of 5. I haven’t seen it in other Equinox clubs.
Most of the instructors are top of the top, others are trying hard, but may be just not my vibe. Lots of sub teachers, but all of them are cool. Personal trainer that was assigned to me was outstanding.
The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is the design of lockers & some tiny showers. Locker rooms were designed by drunk ppl probably. Walls are at such a weird angle, I feel dizzy in it. But it’s clean and very nice finishes were used. Lots of beautiful marble!
I would definitely recommend this location!
30 March 2020 18:25
This facility really offers the best — classes, and amenities like the spa and pool are wonderful! Everyone is super nice and helpful, and will accommodate you in any way. Christian is awesome - he’s gone out of his way to ensure that my experience as a new member is a positive one. Teachers Serena Tom, Sara May Epstein are just a couple that are great. The gym is always sparkling clean and it’s newly remodeled.
20 March 2020 18:34
Beautiful location with the best amenities in New York for a non premium location. Cheyenne at the front desk is always super friendly and lovely!
29 February 2020 9:47
Very very bad costumer service not helpful very rude. I thought managers are better but they are even worse they just wanna get money from you, never going back there.
04 February 2020 10:07
Went to the Spa at East 63rd location a few weeks ago. It was not my first time. Two or three previous times I have had a good experience with my facial, not so good with the massage. Last time around, I noticed that the esthetician who gave me a facial was fixing the bed without changing the sheets. And when I got home I also found a long hair stuck in my sweater. When I complained and asked for a full refund, the spa manager told me I was wrong, the sheets were changed, the hair - can happen to anybody everywhere. Refund - no way. Should you ever decide to give us more of your money for not fresh sheets, we would love to have you back. Think twice before you trust your body to their sheets. Also, the facial was not so good either last time comparing to the first time. No sure why.
02 April 2019 23:51
20m pool in the basement. Could need a refresh but better than the one in the village. Columbus circle is bigger. However it has a hot tub + cold pool + saunas right in the pool area. The guards are friendly and help coordinate for lane sharing.

Ok, so as a disclaimer, I'm posting these reviews for my reference. I have an All Access Membership, and I want to visit as many of these as I can, to see which one I like most/would like to go to.
My interests are powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, swimming, so my review will be geared towards that.

This gym has four floors, but they are small floors. LL2 is for the swimming pool and spa, which as of 06 March 2019 is closed for renovation. That might take six months or so. LL1 is for cardio. The ground floor has the cafe - which has a good amount of vegan options - the Shop, which has possibly the best selection of men's workout clothing, which I still think is inadequate (I didn't like anything, and it's really expensive). The 1st floor has the lifting area with I think has four squat racks, which is great, enough space to deadlift and two or three benches. It also has deadlifting platforms, which is something I really appreciate that Equinox has.

Out of 10:
Size: 2
Luxury: 3
Equipment: 8

TODAY 22 of January I have to call back to see what is happening no body call in 30 days and the Ladie toll some will get in touch soon with you about this situation, let see how long for the. To call me
17 January 2019 21:37
Even though this location has a pool, I found it somewhat lacking. The area downstairs for cardio doesn't have machines that are linked to the internet; and I had trouble getting on the guest network. It does have a nice big locker room for changing. In the lobby is a Juice Generation and it has a really big Retail space if you like shopping at the Equinox gyms for new clothes.
02 January 2019 4:44
Don't forget you need:
* your own locker
* swim hat if you want to swim - A RULE

and optional up to you:
* work out shorts, shirt.
* slippers
* socks, underwear to change into
anything else?
