Ordered from them as they had a limited edition variant from the band I love. Vinyl was shipped the very next day after ordering and was trackable throughout, which I was worried about since it was an international delivery. Item came in one piece, and was packaged very safely. Can’t recommend them enough.

Tremendous variety of CDs, vinyl records and videos at good prices. Used items are in good shape. On the other hand they could use a larger selection of classical music, especially Mozart. Also, very little Stan Getz (no “The Girl from Ipanina”).

Great store with a huge selection of anything music related. I was able to find multiple exclusives and even take a look at some of the used and new hardware that they had in stock. Because we all know that we’re constantly upgrading. I’ll definitely be back to visit them time and time again.

I ordered a reissue record of Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mtn. Boys.with Christmas being soon I expected my order to be late. It had been a few weeks since I placed the order no word or nothing. I finally got word today that my order was lost in a sea of other orders.also that the record was missing and couldn't be shipped out. I give them kudos to the fact that they finally emailed me and told me what was up. They also did give me a full refund which I appreciate. However buyer beware because it seems this business cannot track your orders promptly and loses the merchandise.then they finally discover that nobody sent you what you ordered.very bad for business. I was very disappointed with what happened and I will never do business again with this company. Even the man who emailed me said he didn't know what happened.this place needs better management and they need to implement a tracking system.the technology is there why not use it. I seriously have better luck with small businesses on Discogs than I had with this company.not a very good impression and certainly not a good experience.

I bought a record player at the original location for my husband, and it has been the gift that keeps on giving. Great selection of new and used vinyl, as well as great gifts. Happy to watch the business grow and thrive!

Cool place to visit and buy new and used CDs and records. Big selection. My teen kids are into CDs and my daughter has a turntable. I found it interesting to see lots of teens in there buying cds and records.

Very large selection of vinyls! This is the place I go to when I need new sealed records. They have just about everything. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

This is my favorite record store and easily the best in the Hudson Valley. It's on par with the best spots in NYC/Brooklyn in terms of selection and vibe. The staff are always super helpful and the pricing is always fair. Beyond a huge mainstream/rock/pop selection, their hip hop section is really solid and a big reason I go. Other sections like metal, punk, jazz, R&B, and soundtracks seem pretty deep, as well. I appreciate that they have a lot of fun with their programs and promotions; they've built a great brand that is fun to shop from. For those in NY, NJ, and CT: Darkside is worth the day trip!

I ordered some vinyl on their black friday sale. One showed up with damage to the sleeve. It was a picture disc, which most people know aren't really for playing, but more for displaying. The poly sleeve was bent and the inside insert was torn. This would have been obvious to anyone packaging the record. When I contacted their customer service about this, Erin offered me a $1 refund and stated that they could not replace the product. I found this borderline insulting, as the visual appeal of a picture disc is really all that matters. In discussion, I offered to settle for a refund less than the amount it'd have cost to send the record back via USPS, and Erin decided she'd rather pay the post office to retrieve the record then to actually accommodate the customer. Actual email quote "The album was already offered at an incredibly significant discount and is worth much more so even with damaged packaging it's worth more than the $10 you paid for it. " So, they discounted the price, and seem unhappy someone but it at discounted price, thus wont refund what they'll pay the post office in return charges, instead paying more to retrieve the record so they can go ahead and sell it used for higher than the price offered for the promotion. Seems an odd business tactic, and not one I'd employ.

There is no doubt this place is decent. However I brought in a very good number of albums which they looked over as I was shopping the wide variety of albums cassettes stereo systems and gift items. About 15 minutes later they said they were ready to make an offer on the albums they wanted. While I understand they want profit the bottom line is they're cut would be 60 to 65% leaving me at best 40%. Understanding this is the value less what they would be selling them for. As I was looking through the albums they wanted I noticed that they removed a poster which wasn't mint condition from one of the albums. No I did not mention it because this led to the nature of the dealings and who I'm dealing with! That original poster with Paul McCartney his wife and the band they played with was an exceptional poster. No I will never return there again!

Always a lovely experience. Huge selection of new and used vinyl (which is what I'm there for), other media formats, smoking accessories, collectibles and more. Need a new needle for your LP60? They've got one. Need a replacement tone arm for Carbon Evo? They can help you source one. Kind staff makes the experience all the more pleasurable. Prices are sometimes a bit higher than online but that's to be expected from a privately owned, brick and mortar business. The ability to rifle through and be hands on with the products can't be beat. Highly recommend!

Love Darkside Records! I always get something great when I shop here. Whether it's a new record on vinyl, pre-owned vinyl, CDs, DVDs, BluRays, tapes, clothing or video games. The selection is incredible. They also sell and service audio/visual equipment. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Would totally recommend Darkside Records!

I’ve been collecting CDs for years and recently got back into Vinyl. Darkside’s inventory of new, used and rare items
blew me away. I felt like I was in the movie Empire Records (aka the good old days) The staff at Darkside is top notch and are knowledgeable about everything that pertains to music and media. Interacting with them and the owner, they create a truly unique experience. I appreciate there still being a record store like this that exists in my backyard. I hope they continue to thrive and I will forever be a customer.

They take your money in a heartbeat then message you days later cancelling the order. Still waiting on a refund.
Don't sell on Amazon if you don't know your own inventory.

Stepping into Darkside, you know you're in a place that is effortlessly cool. Not because vinyl is the "in" thing but because there is so much available. Whether you're looking for some one off record, some CD'S, or even a selection of tapes.you're sure to find something you want in regards to music. If you need movies, they have that covered as well in the form of gently used DVD's. There's also a selection of audio equipment in the back. I didn't have much use for the small selection of head shop items or music memorabilia/toys but this store has that too if you're into it. Go check it out, find some music you haven't heard in a while and enjoy the browse.

Great company! I pre ordered an album and moved before it could ship. They were quick and kind in helping me change the delivery address.

My little brother and I went to dark side to look at getting our first vinyl player. We walked in and loved the store, and the atmosphere right away. I went to the front desk and spoke to an individual by the name of Tyler. Tyler was extremely helpful, kind, patient, and non judgmental considering we had no idea about Vinyls. Tyler helped us through the whole buying process, and showed us how to clean the vinyls, use the player, and more. If you’re looking for vinyls, random goodies/collector items, and or getting into vinyls go to Darkside Records!

Awesome record shop with both old and new, all type of music and the selection overall is the best I've seen. Top that with just about every type of player available and a retro game section and this place is just great!
The staff is quite knowledgeable and friendly, just wish it was a little closer but you can't have it all.

It is like stepping back in time. Old time record store feel. LP's, 8 Tracks, cassettes, cds, laserdisc, vhs and dvds. They also have vintage stereo equipment, a 420 section and even some posters and retro gaming stuff. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Check them out.

I could really spend hours browsing this store. Scored some excellent albums on a busy Saturday.

This was my first time shopping at this store. So many different records to choose from. They also have DVDs, CDs, video games and other items to choose from. I definitely will go back there soon.

A large, nice throwback to the old record stores of the 80s. Fairly good selection of new and used vinyl LPs, 45s and I think I even saw some 78s (which aren't vinyl, they are lacquer, but I digress). They offer - for the most part - decent prices for your used vinyl. The staff is terrific: down-to-earth, friendly and helpful.

After seeing the sign in the door I fully understand that the owners are communist sympathetic and have no respect for freedom or liberty. I honestly hope this place burns to the ground.

Once you set foot in there you are possessed.went there yesterday, and now I can only think of one thing.returning to the DarkSide. There's no hope for me, tell Obi Wan to die slow. Also anyone leaving this store a bad review, is clueless. I've spent 3/4 of my life in record stores. I hunt vinyl 7 days a week 365 days a year, all over the globe from Amsterdam to Cambodia. The bad reviewers seem to be addicted to huffing model glue and are NOT leaving an accurate description of this vinyl paradise. With that being written, it IS cursed and you should absolutely not get in my way when I am lurking here. Especially if you are going to complain about their customer service. Raddest employees ever. Choices were very limited. I come from the vinyl era, and I guess it will take some time before vinyl make a decent comeback. I will check again in 6 months. Meanwhile I will just have to enjoy my own record collection.

The vibe when you walk through the door is completely laid back but very professional. Tyler took care of me like I'd been there one hundred times. A very cool place.

I really really love the vibe of this place. The staff is always friendly. I'm a vinyl novice but they are always ready to help. Their movie wall is the closest you can to get to a video rental store without a time machine. Made two special orders easily. Will definitely be back again soon

They have a great array of records and now they have a selection of not only 331/3 LP's but they also have 45s now. They also have equipment such as turntables, stereos and VHS players. I like to buy the used DVDs and Blu-rays.

It was amazing. They have everything you need in that store vinyls, cds, dvds, and vhs movies. I really wish they are hiring right now, but they are not hired at the moment.

Excellent, well-organized, expertly-staffed miracle of a record store. Your answer to, "Do they have it? , " is extremely likely to be a resounding, "Yes! " If not, ask. Like I mentioned, these guys know their stuff. It's by far and away well worth the trip!

When you go to Darkside Records the staff is always helpful and very pleasant to talk to! They definitely love music, have the knowledge of the products in the store and their suggestions are always helpful when you have a question. If they don't have a product that you want, they do their best to try and help you find something similar or better! I definitely reccomend going to Darkside for vinyl, CDs, vintage shirts among other great products sold there!

These guys are great! They are always super helpful and very knowledgeable. If they don't have it, they will find it for you.

Average prices, and quality stuff. They have a BIG selection of records, DVDs for sale, novelty items, pop figures, and just a bunch of cool stuff. It's definitely worth checking out. Theres even a cool gimmick where you get a mystery bag of 7 albums for $3. The staff is really chill too, very helpful.

It's not exactly the closest place to me but they definitely got the hard titles and especially if you like vinyl you'll love this place

Amazing record store. They worked with me to ship me a vinyl I couldn’t get at my local shops. Ordered on Saturday, got my package in less than a week! So happy with my decision to give my business to Darkside. Viva la tipper!

Great place to get hard to find C D's and a good selection of cult movies plus very unique gifts will be doing some Christmas shopping at Dark side records

Physical media super fan. We dont have many places left that support and cater to our hobby and interests. Looking for CD's of multiple genres? Need vinyl of your favorite band? Perhaps looking for cassettes? Yes, yes yes to all. Cool store, cool staff. Bands actually come in and play. Many other events happen on site. The collector and Hobbyist in me has found a place that understands me. Check them out

Good selection of vinyl, and classic record store vibe (except the employees don't think they're cooler than you, which was always the case in good record stores pre-1990). They usually have some good turntables and other used ("vintage") stereo components.

Big open store, used and new vinyl, focus seems to be rock but you'll find all the genres you would expect at a store of this size. My favorite parts of Darkside are the many events they hold like in-store performances and flea markets, as well as the kind and funny staff who have built a community around his store. There is also a great gift section where you'll find nice candles and funny greeting cards!

The local community is lucky to have a place (& people) like Darkside Records. Large space & selection (with new, re-issiue & used) to peruse. Staff is helpful & knowledgeable. In store concerts & flea markets.

Great selection of cd's. I'm not into vinyl anymore, but the floor space in the store is about 80% vinyl. The staff, however, leaves a bit to be desired. They are a bunch of too cool for school 20 somethings who seem less than interested in ringing me out when I bring my purchases to the counter.
