Yummy American/NYC style pasta at @colonienyc! Much heavier seasoning compared to Italy, but nevertheless savory and satisfying. Date cake is a popular dessert there - great texture and I would recommend eating it with the ice cream since it’s super duper sweet!
Had such a good dinner here. Food was amazing, as was the service. We loved sitting by the bar to watch the preparation and meet the chef. The celery salad, tempura squash, and sticky date cake were personal favorites. We’ll be back!
It’s my favorite restaurant in New York New Yorkers meet there with friends in a warm atmosphere. The dishes are very good. The service is very pleasant. We see the cooks preparing in front of us. It’s Amazing moments
Lovely brunch spot with delicious food! We had to wait a bit for our food to come out (45-50min), but the waitstaff was super nice and attentive. Really great Turkish eggs — delicious spot!
Sometimes you stumble upon a place that not only meets your brunch expectations but wildly exceeds them. Colonie is such a gem.
From the get-go, the ambiance hinted at the culinary delights that were to follow. And then came the food. The celery salad was a refreshing symphony of flavors, while the Turkish eggs were nothing short of exquisite. Each bite was a revelation, leaving me in awe of the creativity and precision that went into crafting these dishes.
But what truly set the experience apart was the mimosa. Made with freshly squeezed orange juice, it was the epitome of refreshment, each sip transporting me to a sunlit orchard. It's rare to find a place that puts such thought into every element of a meal, making it truly magical.
Our seating at the bar provided not just a front-row view of the bustling kitchen but also introduced us to our fantastic bartender. His attentiveness, warm personality, and spot-on suggestions added an extra layer of joy to our brunch. It's evident that he's not just serving food and drinks but curating an experience for each guest.
Colonie left an indelible mark on my brunch memories. I find myself daydreaming about that perfect meal, eagerly awaiting my next visit. If you're looking for a brunch that stands out in every aspect, make your way to Colonie. It's not just a meal; it's a culinary journey you won't soon forget. See you again soon!
Nice, chic, restaurant on Atlantic Avenue. There is a bar up front and most of the food tables in the back. The kitchen is open in the dining room around the tables. It’s nicely decorated and the smells are oh so good. But you have to be ok with that. The menu is excellent- but very limited. They have four pastas and three main dishes. Plus appetizers. The halibut was excellent though it is served nouveau style. The pastas are also excellent. Highly recommended but make sure there is something you want to eat first.
Brought my parents here for my father birthday, a few friends of mine highly recommended it and they did not disappoint. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They even signed a card when bringing out my dad's pastry singing happy birthday which I thought was a very sweet gesture. Would def come back! Everything we ordered was delicious.
My husband and I dined here during our visit to NYC. We came from the Cincinnati area and it was our first visit to the city. When planning the trip, Colonie caught my eye so we decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did, because it quickly turned into the absolute highlight of our trip and was an evening we won’t forget. The service is outstanding - each individual host made us feel like family. We were never short beverages, and our space at the chefs table was kept tidy at all times - no empty plates left behind. The sous chefs are impossibly talented at what they do and gave every single plate attention and care before it left their sight. And lastly, the Chef is a true artist and extremely kind, humble person. We were delighted when he walked over to pay a visit as it was our anniversary dinner. The food is layered with exquisite, complimentary flavors that are refined and articulate but also make these dishes relatable, familiar, and remarkable at the same time.
As a couple traveling foodies, I can without a doubt say this is one meal you don’t want to miss when you visit NYC. I’m just waiting to visit again and see a Michelin star outside the entrance. Forever a staple every time we return to the city. Thanks Chef and crew for an unforgettable experience.
Every single dish was excellent, with three shared plates and three different pastas. All a real treat for the taste buds with each bite and it would change and evolve in the nicest ways. Crazy attention to detail - and so worth it. Mushroom pate was out of this world good! Pasta was perfection. Made a special day even better - thanks!
The restaurant is dimly lit and has a cozy feel. Tried a few wines which happened to be served from a tap - all had a strange after taste which was somewhat fermenty! Crab pasta had flavor and a nice kick to it. The pasta was Al dente which was nice but it was too oily for my liking.
Unfriendly service and very small portions for such a high price. The pasta tasted heavily like lemon, which was the case for two different dishes. The place is pretty, but because of the service we did not feel welcome nor would we recommend this place to anyone. There are more tasty, friendlier places with a better price point in the area.
Everything was delicious but the surprising best dish of the night was the mushroom crostini. You MUST get this. We also got the lump crab tagliatelle and the duck dish. I loved the spicy kick in the pasta and it had a generous serving of crab. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!
Sat on the patio and ordered family style small plates and pasta. Everything was delicious and their cocktails were amazing, including a watermelon spicy margarita. The staff was accommodating and friendly (even sang happy birthday with my friends) and it was reasonably priced considering the very high quality of the food and service.
Amazing spot in downtown BK. Food was delicious and service was great. Sat by the chef counter and just being able to see them prepare everything was phenomenal. Chef was very helpful with his recommendations. Will definitely be coming back to this joint.
This restaurant is a MUST EAT! No matter what you order, I guarantee you’ll be mind blown. Each time I go, I order new things and they continue to impress.
Would most highly recommend the runner beans, tagliatelle w/ lump crab, and bison steak. And the sticky date cake is to die for.
The ambiance was fantastic and sit at the chef’s table if you can!
Came here for my birthday dinner—we walked in around 7 on a thursday night and were seated at the chefs counter (highly highly recommend if you’re into food/cooking). My boyfriend has *a lot* of food allergies and they were super knowledgeable and aware.we got the whipped ricotta with strawberries and heirloom tomatoes, the celery salad, campanelle with hen of the woods mushrooms, and the steak (I rarely eat red meat but this was so worth it)
the chefs were so sweet and it was a joy to watch them cook! One of the best meals i’ve had in a really long time.
(my only downside was that I was pretty underwhelmed by both cocktails I got, but that might just be a function of my personal taste!)
