We were holidaying from the UK and my daughter had forgotten her contact lenses. Luckily this Opticians was just around the corner from our hotel. The optician, Jeff Cohen was totally fantastic and gave her plenty of emergency pairs to get her through the whole holiday. He was very kind, friendly and knowledgeable.

The eye exam was very detailed, and the sales representative treated me with lots of courtesy and respect.

I am new in the city and I was looking for a place to have my eyes checked and to get contacts/glasses. I stumbled upon Cohens and was glad to have gone there. The staff were very kind and helpful! T'Shura helped me through the process of my new patient intake. I was examined using state of the art equipment by Nick. I was then seen by Dr. Dodaj and she thoroughly explained to me my condition and recommended the best prescriptions suited for my eyes. I highly recommend going here if you are looking for a place to have your eyes checked and where to get you eyewears! 10/10!

I loved the doctor but the sales staff were horrible to me. I went in for an eye exam and the doctor was great, very thorough and she took the time to explain everything. After the exam I was sent to the glasses counter and things turned ugly when I said I wanted to shop for glasses myself online before buying anything. The salesperson got very angry and embarrassed me by raising her voice and making a bit of a scene. She told me I'd lose my insurance benefits if I didn't order new glasses though them, which is a lie. Then she snatched the paperwork out of my hand that the doctor had given me and said "those are mine! " in an aggressive nasty way. I left this store feeling embarrassed and totally disrespected. I certainly don't feel comfortable going back there to order my glasses.

I'm still waiting to receive my glasses. Been getting the run around. First they said Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday, today being Friday, still no glasses but I paid over $800.00 for them.this is not good. Where are my glasses? ️?

The staff here was VERY helpful. Everyone at this store took their time to personally help me to find the best glasses and deals. Miss Dorothy is the sweetest and a great help! So glad I came to this location.

Shady business practice. I made an appointment for a normal, routine eye prescription check up but ended up being given and charged for the premium, more expensive visit without my permission. I even called the day before to confirm that my insurance coverage would cover everything except my $20 copay. When I arrived the next day I was told to go into a room where they started several tests without asking me and then was subsequently charged $130 for them.

I just want to warn anyone before you pay for an eye exam to please check with your insurance. I went to this location yesterday to get an eye exam for contacts and eye glasses and was immediately told it would cost me $150.00 - WITH insurance. I have Davis Vision and a staff member told me my insurance does not cover contact prescription. I left to check with my doctor and I’m glad I did. While I was walking down the street I stopped at another optometrist’s office (not Cohen’s) to ask how much it would cost to have my eyes checked. The owner ran my insurance and told me it was covered and I would only have to pay a $20.00 copay. My insurance does, in fact, cover an eye exam for contacts and glasses. I have been to another Cohen’s location in the past and also never paid $150.00 for an exam anywhere else, so I was shocked when they quoted me at that price. They are scamming people by charging such an egregiously high amount. I don’t understand how they would have run my insurance and charged me if my insurance plan covers it. They did not take the time to look into anything and refused to provide any further clarification. I will be notifying my insurance company and be reporting this Cohen’s location to the better business bureau.

The kind, experienced and professional salesperson Dorothy helped me select a pair of lovely lightweight frames, and the optometrist, Dr. Rachel Du, was excellent. Her exam was very thorough. This is a great Cohen’s Optical!

Rebecca at this location was truly top notch. She was very patient, very honest and answered all of my questions in great detail. When it came to a price breakdown she took out the pen and paper and gave me exact detail of all charges and price. She also made some great suggestions and was very honest. She was very comfortable to deal with and made feel secure in the establishment. She was DOPE AF and I think she deserves her own store. She knows exactly what she is taking abut and has the answers to all of the questions you may have.

The customer service at this Cohen's Fashion Optical location is fantastic. I had the most enjoyable experience getting new glasses for my son. The moment I entered, they greeted me with professionalism, friendliness, and warmth.

The manager, Rebecca, is the star of the show. I felt her presence as soon as I step in. She was very patient with my son and my insurance issues. As a result, my son is in love with his glasses.

I will be going here for all my contacts and glasses-related needs and recommending them to my family and friends.

If you want your eye exam, contacts, or other eye-related care taken care of correctly, I highly recommended this location.

This location has the BEST staff I have encountered in a very long time. Every person working there is so helpful and caring. I had a complicated order with the eyeglasses I was trying to customize, yet everyone seemed to know exactly what was going on with my order at any given time.

The first person I encountered was Anna (I believe she is a supervisor there). Anna helped me find the perfect pair of glasses, all while being mindful of what style I was looking for and my budget. She helped me completely customize my glasses - helping me find the frame that I wanted and working with one of their technicians to cut the custom lens shape I desired.

Move forward to me complicating my order more, Rebecca and Nikki were both there to pick up where me and Anna had left off and make sure my order was clear. I got pretty specific with my lens shape and the technician, Alvin, was very helpful in making sure I got exactly what I wanted. After explaining the shape that I wanted, Alvin cut out a sample lens so that I could better see what the glasses would look like put together.

Finally, after a drawn out process (due to complications on my end) Dorothy took the time to walk me through my payment and spoke with the credit card company I had opened a line with to make sure everything was clear between all three parties.

I really appreciate everyone's thoroughness at this store. Such a genuine staff who I obviously can't say enough good things about! Thank you!

I was Helped out by the optician Jeff. This guy is really great at his job.the quality service he gives his clients is unparalleled. To put it this way I was going to another local optical whos pricing for my contacts was 100$ cheaper than Cohens. However I decided to stick with Jeff because of that world class service. Quality will always be victorious.

I had a great experience picking out my glasses. Initially I went to different store close by and the staff member there was rude and unprofessional, he did the bare minimum as far as assistance. I went here and Rebecca was the exact opposite. I can be pretty indecisive at times but Rebecca was excellent in helping me choose a pair of glasses I was happy with.

Broke my sunglasses, and stopped by here hoping they were fixable. Jeff worked his magic and was able to bring them back to life good as new! The staff was very friendly, and worked very efficiently to help me out. I greatly appreciate the A+ job!

I walked in on a whim and received the best service from Rebecca. She was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and so, so pleasant! The doctor who performed my exam (im sorry I can't think of her name at the moment) was also very pleasant and explained everything very thoroughly. Then, to top off the excellent customer service, Rebecca brought my glasses out to my car, curbside, when I came to pick them up a couple of weeks later! I
live in the East Village, but will definitely make the trip uptown for any future Eyewear needs. Thanks to everyone at Cohens Optical on 86th for a great customer service experience!

Wow! I called the store to order another box of prescription contacts. I was explaining to Rebecca that the prior order I had delivered because I was then suffering from a crippling debilitating spinal injury. The courier service never rang my bell or anything. I knew the package was coming I waited all up till 8 o’clock pm and no delivery. Around 10: 30/ 11 o’clock PM my boyfriend comes by to check on me and he said you have a package that was just laying on the shelf in font of the mail box in the lobby where anybody could’ve stolen the package. After I finish explaining my concern with getting the contacts delivered directly to me Ms. Rebecca also told me that she is the New Manager and would made sure that there would be no problems this time. I ordered the box of contacts with her around 5 o’clock PM and received them next day by 10 AM. Ms. Rebecca Thank-you for making this process stress free

I really like the glasses I got and the service was excellent. Rebecca was who I worked with and she knew what she was doing. I went to this location because my daughter recommended it because she had gotten her glasses here a few months before. I now have to get used to bifocals which I dont find easy but I will not hesitate to go back if needed. Highly recommend, thanks Rebecca

The Cohen's on 86th (bet. 3rd & Lex) is my new favorite optician. Special shout out to Rebecca who worked with me as I explored multiple frames and made sure the frames I settled on fit like a glove. She was patient through numerous adjustments, and did I say she managed to give me a pretty deep discount. Needless to say, I'll be back!

Very friendly atmosphere and caring vibes in the place. On the day I got my eyes tested, I literally got my glasses within the same day, which usually takes days to acquire. A heavenly clear view my eyes has seen, once I put on the glasses. If you find Laila inside, she's very helpful and knowledgeable in eyewear. Thanks to her, she understood what I was looking for: simple fashionable glasses.

What a great experience! As soon as I walked in, I was acknowledged and offered assistance. Dorothy and Nikki were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Dr Victoria K gave me a very thorough eye exam and was very patient while I asked a LOT of questions. They were very kind with feedback about new frames as they helped me decide on what looked best and I was able to pick up my glasses within a few days (much sooner than I anticipated). I had an overall wonderful experience! Hopefully, I will be seeing them (pun intended) from now on!

I had an eye appointment at cohens on 86th today. I was helped by Laila, Palvi and Dorothy. They were all extremely friendly and helpful, made for a great experience at the store!

My wife and I both went in for an eye exam because we needed a new prescription for our eyeglasses. Both the eye exam and our experience trying to find frames was so comfortable. The entire staff at this location was very helpful. Rachel was knowledgeable, accommodating and very pleasant to deal with. I have used other Cohen stores and have never been completely happy with the service. After my experience with Rachel, this location will now be my only eyeglass provider. This is the best Cohens location!

This company deserves ZERO stars. First, who doesn’t have a return policy in the year 2021? This is definitely a scam! I purchased a pair of Tom Ford frames and I was asked to put a down payment, which I did for $300. When I found the frames at a cheaper price point, I called to return the glasses. I was then informed of the no return policy, which is the reason this place is a scam. During transactions, this policy should be stated CLEARLY for all customers; however, it is NOT. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and I was informed that they were unable to process the return. This is what you call extremely POOR customer service! Now I have a pair of Tom Ford glasses that I’m not going to wear If you ever need glasses, please go to LensCrafters they are a much better company, have better eye consultants, and actually provide top tier customer service.

Update: I just spoke to Rebecca and she’s the new store manager at 86th street. She was super sweet and just purely AMAZING. I will see her next Tuesday and she will help me solve my issue. I’m so impressed on how understanding she was and she definitely deserves a raise! Rebecca deserves 10 stars. It’s important to note, that I may change my 1 star rating to 5 stars only based on Rebecca’s customer service and if I’m able to exchange.

I had a great experience - I had new insurance and the lovely employees helped me understand my benefits & pick out a great set of frames, and my exam was timely and informative. They helped me get a great deal, and even fixed the loose arm on my old pair of glasses!

I went there recently to get my eyes checked and have new frames added to old glasses I really liked.
I was early for my appointment, but they took care of me anyway. I was in and out very fast. I'm very happy with the service. Shout outs to Monroe and Nikki!

This location seems to be permanently closed… Decency would require them to put a sign on the roller gate and take it out of their website

I have been a customer of Cohens for many years and purchased many pairs of glasses but, my most recent experience was the worst. The service in this store has declined tremendously and the help staff can be incompetent at times. I was given misinformation and not communicated to when an issue arised with the return of my glasses. The staff should be trained further in customer service and the management also. I will not shop here again and don't suggest anyone else do. The cleanliness of the floors and cases needs attention as well.

They stated would give Demo Lenses if buy 360$-450$ Rx eyeglasses for a Gucci Frame and would add a gold screw. When picked up lenses 6 months later due to the pandemic shutdown, "Daruthy" then stated: There is nothing we can do; and blamed "Michael. " Did not even give a bag, a gold screw, or demo lenses. I will be filing many complaints and contacting their corporate and hopefully able to speak to their district manager. 3 times they notified glasses would be available for pick up. Each time never available. Also they stated open until 5pm one day, and they were closed at 430pm. 3 employees and 4 phone calls told us the above would be given; and have witnesses. Unreliable. Fraudulent. Awful customer service. I strongly do NOT recommend ordering from this location! I will be posting on additional sites due to this was completely unacceptable.

Helpful staff! So attentive in helping me pick the perfect pair of glasses. I get them replaced every few years so took a while to figure out what was flattering and made me feel comfortable. Great selection for even the pickiest person (like me).

Bought glasses from this store in Jan. Excellent customer service and selection! They did not rush me as I was taking my time to pick what I like. They have such a big selection. Their eye doctor is on site which is very convenient to get it done quick. They even mailed glasses to my house at no charge and I did not have to go back. Will recommend to my friends and family.

Came In not knowing exactly what I wanted, love how informative and PATIENT the staff was, they found me a pair I liked that were priced very reasonably.

There are many Cohen’s in the city, and I wouldn’t necessarily say this one has the best selection, but they have the best staff. When my infant daughter got fussy they let me use one of the back rooms to nurse her while waiting for my appointment, and the doctor apologized for the wait and let me hold my daughter during the exam.

Joe, the owner, knows his stuff, from the right shape of glasses to compliment your face, to the best lens options for those glasses. He took time to help my son cut through a slew of selections, and made it a very painless process. Because we got two pair of glasses, he gave us a great deal to boot! Nothing at all to complain about here!

With many locations through New York City and I believe even New Jersey, particularly Jersey City and/or Bayonne, Cohen's Fashion Optical has become somewhat of a brand name, "fast food" style eyeware store. While it is most convenient for any residents living in Harlem, the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and Washington Heights to use this location, it is certainly NOT Cohen's main warehouse supplier, or even it's biggest, best location it has. But for any local residents it is easily the most convenient, located on 86th St in between 3rd avenue and Lexington.

Had an amazing experience getting my first pair of glasses @ cohens fashion optical. The staff was very professional and since it was my first time getting glasses they took an extra effort explaining to me everything I needed to know. I would certainly recommend them to anyone Who might need glasses or contacts
