Staff was great but the large man who stared us down and guarded the door as we shopped ruined our experience. He returned to his corner in the store as soon as we left and didn’t act like this towards the other shoppers in the store

I went with a group of my friends to purchase hats for the Belmont Stakes. The owner or manager of this location told one of my male friends “take your girls out of my store” which was unexpected compared to the overall good service we had until this point. This whole interaction felt weirdly misogynistic and uncalled for as we were actually planning on buying one of the wildly overpriced hats in this store. He also made a rude hand gesture at us as we left the store:/ would not recommend

Not my favorite hat store and certainly not a warm and welcoming vibe. Inexperienced sales associates and VERY overpriced. Jaxon hats are around $37-55 not $125+
I'm all about spending money on nice wool, handmade hats but this place is to be avoided and is a tourist trap

Good collection but very bad service. A saleswoman is being racist and rude. If she does not like this job, or had a bad day, she can get another job or take a day off. It’s not professional for being so rude.

I used to love this store a lot, got a few hats and recommended this store to many of my friends.

Did not share that the purchase was non-refundable, which is a wildly uncommon policy in today's retail market. Staff rigid and rude.

Worst customer service. Not sure why the folks who work there, work there if they can’t handle people of color. This is New York. Look around!

All the styles and sizes. Opinionated sales people, which definitely helps if you don’t know where to start. Sales are final, but that’s clearly shown everywhere.

I love this store! They spend time with you and allow you to try many different styles. I fell in love with the whole experience of getting my first hat!

Absolutely disgusting behavior by a female salesperson, who did not share her name when I asked but brunette with a slight accent.
I jovially walked into the store, exited to try on a couple Kangol hats and immediately we were greeted with a rude “welcome”. But I overlooked it and proceeded to go toward the Kangol hats. Once she does decides to come be of help her face and complete demeanor is even more off putting than the awful greeting.

Again, I proceeded to just overlook it (you never know what someone is going through -maybe it’s not me) and ask about the sizing of the hats. The answer to the sizing was curt, then I went on to say I knew there were different sizes *not a one size fits all or most.and glad I didn’t buy my first one from online. She immediately tells me with a disgusting tone “how dare you speak of possibly purchasing a hat online, then come in here”.

That was the final straw, I left the store with my friend. I will make sure everyone I know in the neighborhood and my friends business nearby to never step foot into that store with that salesperson. Her behavior is beyond appalling and if she is unhappy with her job, please find a new one.

Great quality and variety of hats and sizes. The staff was very knowledgeable and helped my me navigate the style, color and size I wanted. My wife and I have bought 4 hats here over the last 5 years. Great experience!

CityHats NYC is one of the best experience I’ve had of buying head wear. The staff especially Mira are extremely helpful, present and highly knowledgeable in the wearing and style of hat purchasing. I am a Sinatra act and when I asked what I was looking for Mira was so helpful. I can’t praise this store enough.

1 star for the overbearing saleswoman. Went in with the purpose of buying a hat and I had my eye set on 1 but wanted to see what else was available. The blonde woman would not leave us be and continued to recommend hats when we were just browsing. She's not a terrible person but we left because we couldn't even get a moment to ourselves to look. She was making us so uncomfortable and we were only there for a few minutes.
2 stars because they still have nice hats.

Very helpful staff, but all sales are final, and they dont make that very clear. They will not accept a refund for a hat you bought one day before that still has all the tags on it and is totally unworn. That's an antiquated way of doing business and why they get 3 stars.

This wonderful place has beautiful hats especially summer straw hats. The salepersons there, was very friendly and knowledgeable in selecting the right hat/s that best fits me. Great job!

Excellent experience at City Hats! I own a few hats but have spent a lot of time recently, actively but mostly online, searching for a new one. Checked out a couple of shops without much luck, and then chanced upon City Hats on Houston St. Magic. I was helped by Natalia and she was an angel. Patient, knowledgeable, kind, and friendly, she led me through a series of summer options and, ultimately, to the hat I bought and am very happy with (Genuine Panama Hand Woven in Ecuador). Many thanks to all there who were so helpful. Highly recommended for any hat shopper…. Come to think of it, even if you don’t know you want a hat, you should check out this shop!

Great quality and good variety of hats. The staff was very knowledgeable and helped my husband to navigate the style and color he wanted. She made the shopping so smooth and so delightful.

If it has zero star option, I would give zero. I went there and tried a hat on which was $80 (the price is more expensive than on the website of that brand btw). A worker there was pushy and so rude. I was hesitate to buy because it wasn't the one I really wanted. I ended up not to buy and left the store. Before I left one of the worker said WHAT A WASTE OF TIME then she shut the door. If you want customer to go back TO YOUR STORE, you better work on employees manners.whether I but it or not that is my option. Plus I did not spend like 2 hours there. It was just 15-20 mins walking around and trying hats on. By the way, the door has some kinda magnetic lock or something you have to ring the bell before you get in (that I can understand) but if I want to go out an employee has to open it for me. I just feel like if you just want to get in and look around but not buying anything, they will give you a bad attitude.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE AND I WON'T GO BACK THERE EVER!

I was a little scared when I saw the prices or where to even begin looking but let me say, Julia (hopefully I got that name right) was so helpful and wonderful go work with. She helped us pick out the perfect hats for us and style them. An awesome unique experience that’s definitely worth the price if you’re willing instead of spending money on junk souvenirs

Very rude saleswoman. I literally looked at her and turned around and left. There are some other hat makers in the area.you should go somewhere else like I did.
