Canoe Island Lodge

We just spent a week at this amazing, special resort. We had come for years, but had not been back in over a decade. Coming back was like coming home. The staff are like family - they care about you, remember who you are, and clearly love CIL and their jobs. CIL is directly on Lake George with its own private beach and a private ISLAND (with another beach). They offer sailing all day long, boat tours of the lake, and for an extra fee, waterskiing and tubing. (My 13 year old daughter got up on skis for the first time, thanks to the attention and skill of the waterfront staff!) Breakfast and dinner are included, including one breakfast and one dinner on the island, weather permitting. There are people of all ages here - it is common for 3 generations of the same family to come for the week. Picture it: grandparents sitting in rocking chairs and chatting in the front porch area, kids swimming and playing with each other. The rooms might be a bit on the older side, and yeah, the wifi isn't perfect, but I didn't care one bit, and neither did anyone else. Best vacation that I've had in a long time.

Probably our 15th year staying here for a week in July. Would not consider staying anywhere else.
