I am from Hamburg and return to live here after 36 years of living in a number of states. Buffalo is awesome and this river, black rock canal cruise was amazing. Clean, narrated, and a bar.wow. I'd do it again.
We recently did the river, lake and canal cruise. The boat is fabulous, spacious and comfortable with many great viewing locations on 2 levels. The operators included a lot of great sites, including going to the north end of the Black Rock canal and well out onto a very calm Lake Erie with excellent commentary on this 2 hour cruise. The crew, especially the guide, hostess were very hospitable and both the cruise and onboard refreshments were great value. We very highly recommend this operator for an excellent tour of the greater Buffalo waterfront.
Get away from Niagra falls crowd and get away from city for a bit. One and a half hour ride. Just sit and relax.
Suggetion for Buffalo cruises: I apprciate the narrator on boat and all the info he shared. But there should be quite time when, we passengers "only enjoy the boat ride". Like, 50% of the boat ride time is with narration / info sharing and the other 50% of the time when passengers just enjoy the ride. And I thank you all the crew for a great ride.
I have enjoyed the day cruise as time to myself and I've enjoyed the cocktail sunset cruise with live music. Buffalo is beautiful from the boat. You see things from a whole different perspective
Maryann was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly! As well as the crew that we met. We left with so much more appreciation of Buffalo! Highly recommended!
Absolutely fun experience for everyone it was a calm day on the water so we actually got to go out past the water reservoir in the middle of the lake and the old rotted out bouy that's now inhabited by birds.
Every single day this boat passes through the lock at Unity Island at 12pm, shuts down the bridge, traps sewer authority workers on the island as they're about to leave the island fornlunch, blocks the big trucks on both sides of the bridge and traps anyone that wanted to take their lunch break at the park so a few tourists can ride on an overpriced tour and smell the stinky water at the sewer authority. Cutting off Unity Island every day at noon is unacceptable. The city should realize this and prevent it from opening between 12-12: 30pm.
Very informative tour. The boat was clean with plenty of seating. However, they have implemented a new carry on bag policy. Anything larger than a clutch must be carried in a clear bag. Overall we had a pleasant time.
Went as a surprise day-date with my fiance. Unfortunately it was a pretty windy day, even for Buffalo, and was also cooler than it normally is this time of year but that wasn't anyone's fault of course. The cruise was nice with decent views of downtown Buffalo and Lake Erie. The staff was friendly. Boat had ample seating, both "outdoor and indoor", on its upper and lower levels. Only reasons I didn't give 5 stars were because I do think the boat is a tad bit outdated and could use some minor cosmetic upgrades, and I also wasn't "wowed" by the experience altogether. I think this would be a fabulous sailing after sunset with the Beautiful city of Buffalo and it's skyline all lit up. The narration on the cruise was informative and provided current and historic details of the city, its surrounding areas, and also Canada just across the lake. All in all, I would do it again but, perhaps at nighttime when the city is all lit up and, of course, on a night it wasn't so windy. This is something kids would like also, and we will bring our children with us when/if we do return.
