Birdland Jazz Club

We went to see Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. Music was excellent. Really sublime!
The food… was really awful. One of, if not, THE worst fried chicken I’ve ever had.
When it came time to pay, a rather high tip suggestion was given. Because we still wanted to show some respect, we wanted to give a smaller tip. Our request was met with a disgruntled look and our server refused to come back with the change.
We had to ask a co-worker for it, and got en even dirtier look.

Even if this city thrives on tips, if the food was terrible and the service was awkward, you should not expect a 20-30% tip. That’s just absurd.

To end on a positive note; the music was superb! Its a shame the night was slandered by the food and service.

We had a great time with good music and friendly hospitality. I ordered a cheese plate and pizza and it was good for the price.

Birdland is such a vibe! It is on the more expensive end but if you want to enjoy really great jazz you’ve got to go! The entire ambiance of the place is incredible. The walls are covered in photos of every jazz artist you can think of. It’s better to reserve a table than the bar, because you’ll actually be able to see the performers. Also, I’d recommend going early to line up before it starts so you can get a better seat. We showed up at 9: 45 and doors opened at 10: 00 for our 10: 30 show, and we ended up at a table right in front!

Very good, legendary place and affordable in terms of price.
Several shows, the first at 7 p.m. Come at 6 p.m. To eat before.

Perfect for a jazzy night in NYC. Went in the theatre and had no complaints. It serves food (like dinner food) which is not that usual in jazz clubs I think. I would come back for sure.

Highly recommend paying cash here. The server doubled the amount of tip after we left. We checked 20% for tip (already high because this includes the $80 of jazz ticket price for two), but seems she charged 40%.

We had an amazing time, enjoyed some great jazz which was one of the highlights from our NYC trip:) highly recommended.

I would give the server with the glasses a star for getting me to never frequent Birdland again! She was passive aggressive, sarcastic and downright rude to me; I wasn't too fond of her continually walking past me distracting me from the show, which was good, but you can listen to great live jazz all over NYC and skip the crummy passive aggressive server. I left early and will not be back

I went here for my anniversary and it was amazing! The performance was amazing and the food was even better! We saw the Big Band and it was worth every penny! Such a wonderful and entertaining evening

Took my wife and my son for my birthday we always wanted to come here we heard so much of it we decide let go here.was little concern because it a Jazz Club I figured it was going to be just drinks and little bit of food, but I was wrong, the menu has some great stuff to eat, totally a surprise.great food and great Entertainment, definitetly recommended.

Perfect way to warm up for Christmas. The food, drinks, service, music, and ambiance were all just what you hope to find in a jazz club. Just wonderful!

Went there to see one of my favourite musicians, Arthuro o'Farrill, pianist with Cuban roots. I guess I wouldn't have a chance to see him in middle Europe where I am from. So this was quite exceptional exceptional. This legendary jazz club is really nice place to spend evening. For jazz lovers this is a must.

Historic setting even if it isn't the original. I had a great time because I saw a late show performed by a friend of mine. The club tacked on an extra $20 per person drink min. But it was worth it.

We came on Christmas Eve. The band was amazing! But the service is the worst. Our waitress Kaylah hardly ever came to our table. We had to continuous ask other servers for assistance and when we did they would not help at all. We ordered appetizer and she never came back to get our dinner order. We had to tell one of the bus boys to have our waitress come take our order. Our water glasses were empty and no one came to fill them up. My husband and I wanted to order more alcoholic beverages and no on ever came back to our table. I was very disappointed of this experience and will not recommend this venue to anyone.

I wasn't that hungry, so I got the soup of the day. I think it was chicken chickpea soup or something like that. I just came there for the drinks and music.

The jazz was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. The crowd kept quiet for the most part, and the venue was packed on a Sunday night.

I couldn't stop bobbing my head and smiling at the sounds. Needless to say, as a jazz and live music fan, I cannot wait to come back here.

Always a good time - even when it's not! ;-) Seriously, even when there are issues from technical/stage to food order issues, they make it right and have a good time doing it! I highly recommend for dinner and a show with mates or dates.

Very cool place with a history. My wife and I, in town for just a few days, got a table on short notice and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

The only downside was another attendee at the table next to us who bitterly confronted us for "talking. " I was surprised because we had only been whispering into each other's ears. When I realized there were at least a couple of other tables nearby with folks murmuring (audibly but respectfully) to one another, that I realized we must have just been the closest at which this angry little man could direct his ire.

Once I determined it was his problem, not mine, I was able to enjoy the rest of the performance. That poor guy sat with arms crossed in background consternation the whole time. And now he's just an anecdote of our time in New York.

Excellent service, really good food, venue would be better for smaller groups than a big band but still a great experience

I went to see the hot sardins and it was amazing, the food excelent (grilled chicken caesar salad) and the wine very good, a nice place to go back!

Worst service ever! Our waitress Kaylah never came to our table after taking our first water/drink order. We had to signal several other waiters to alert them we needed service. Needless to say our server still didn't come check on us. The band was excellent though

I heard of this place before, someone recommended me to go there for future events and Birdland is one of them. They had the best jazz group ever. My eyes and ears popped open when I started hearing their music beats, it really caught my attention. Now I finally recognized what the club is about.

Just had an unforgettable night! Everything from the cuisine to the music was perfect, and exactly what I was looking for for a special evening in New York. Thank Birdland and Ken Pepwloski quartet

Nice menu and excellent service. Sunday night, second show, front and center for the Afro Latin Jazz Octet was epic. The only disappointment was the abscence of band leader Arturo O"Ferrel. We all were gifted a free c.d. After the show. The opportunity to see world class players in this legendary club is as good as it gets.

My wife and I attended Saturday, October 2,2021 5-6: 30 PM for Eric Comstock with Sean Smith on Bass and special guest vocalist Barbara Fasano.
We thoroughly enjoyed the music. This trio was fun, entertaining and delightful. The ambience at the Birdland Jazz club was quite romantic. Our food and drink selections were reasonable and very delicious. The bar and wait staff were prompt and attentive. This was the perfect pre-theatre venue that we needed.
A funny sidenote, my wife had broken her shoe upon arrival. So after the show I had to return to our hotel to retrieve another pair of shoes for her. By the time I got back she had made new friends of the entertainers and the bar staff who asked me “where is your cape? ” I guess because they had referred to me as a Superhero for flying to the hotel and back so fast. It just goes to show how wonderfully friendly and welcoming the people at the Birdland Jazz Club are! We will be back, this time with better shoes!

Good music. Good drinks and food. Felt like the band was dialing it in the night we were there. That said still enjoyed the evening

A fabulous, famous, and stunning venue for great music and great food and excellent cocktails. You'll never have a bad show here. The service is also top notch.

Always god music so can take a chance on acts yu do not know. All seats are good ones. Food is good value.

Birdland jazz club is a classic! If your goal is to come to Manhattan to bar hop then Birdland jazz club has GOT to be on your list! It's a must go, if you're going to visit New York and make it over there! You could even maybe get lucky enough to catch some of the entire world's most successful, exciting, popular and talented Jazz musicians to walk the EARTH! Just hey, Trust me!

I had so much fun here. The music was great and not too loud which was nice and the food was really good.

Amazing show by Arturo O'Farril! The venue is excellent with terrific food and service. There ain't a bad seat in the house!

This is one of the most significant music performance venues in the United States. The acoustics are clutch. Besides having a stage that holds space for legends, the staff at Birdland - office, door, table service, bar - is exceptional.

Atmosphere, Atmosphere and atmosphere are great. You're vibing with a taste of history with live jazz musicians on stage. Enjoy this place with good drinks and come to listen to jazz.definitely worth it.

Had a great time-old New York charm type of place. Food is mediocre but the friendly service made up for it.

If you're a jazz fan this is Mecca, so I was lucky enough to catch the performance on the first night they were open since the pandemic. I didn't have a reservation, but was seated at a table with a great view of the stage. The menu looked good, but was meeting a friend for dinner later so just had drinks and the bartender made my Manhattan just how I like it (which isn't easy) and the service was outstanding! I wasn't familiar with the performers, but the music was wonderful. For a $10 cover and $20 minimum, it doesn't get any better than Birdland!

Fantastic experience! We went for the music, which was great and everything we hoped it would be but the food surprised us in how good it was. The prices were reasonable.

My 1st jazz club in New York and I had A-blast I love the dark lighting and food italian the wonderful jazz I could have just stayed there forever.
