Don’t waste your time bringing your clothes here for sale - unreasonable and unpredictable standards.bring your clothes for donation to a community center or local thrift store serving a good cause instead.

Easily the worst Beacons location of them all. It seems they send all the cast offs from the other stores here. I am eternally grateful for Beacons Manhattan and Greenpoint (dare I say I even enjoy the Bushwick location) and will shop there till the day they or I die, but the Park Slope location is horrible. From the gross clothes selection to the creepy mannequin in the back, none of it makes sense. Have never found anything reasonable enough to buy, and I'm a very easy target when it comes to Beacons. Love you Beacons. Please send someone from any of your other stores to fix this. Us Park Slope girlies deserve better.

It’s thrifting like any other store — it can be hit or miss — but I’ve almost never left a Beacon’s without something in hand that’s become a closet staple.

Not much of a selection… barely anything fit me and I’m a size 12 US for reference. A couple of the items I looked at were damaged and stained. I did find one skirt I liked but that was after an hour of searching. (And it’s a relatively small store)

Hard pass! This store is full of drab, raggedy polyester-literally nothing caught my eye there. And when I brought in a ton of designer items made from beautiful natural fabrics (including Anthropologie, Catherine Malandrino, Joie, DVF), they said they couldn't take a single item from my bags but I'm "free to donate. " Right.so you can take and/or sell my stuff for free. No thank you! Not to mention the next-level rude staff. Never coming here again.

I feel there is a very vague criteria here for which they buy items. I was told they want things for summer, yet after going through 1 bag of summer items I was told they can't use anything. And it also depends who looks at your items. I did buy 2 blouses for my Mom and they weren't cheap. I feel like I could get a better deal at Old Navy's summer sale.

Right before the quarantine (Covid-19) began, I started a new gig. I went out and bought all new clothes. Quarantine began and I started work from home. It’s now Summer 2023 and I can’t fit any of the new stuff i bought. I took three brand new suits (2 Zara, 1 Express), four suit blazers (Zara) and a host of other pieces to Beacons Closet - all brand new. I was told that the criteria for acceptance was Condition, Season, Fashion-sense (if they thought it would sale). ~20+ pieces total.

They only took an older and worn Zara denim shirt ($49) and two pairs of MNML pants ($60 per) that had the tags still on them for a total of 23.00. On top of that, they weren’t even taking donations, they tore the bags i brought the clothes in AND they didn’t even bother to fold the clothes that they didn’t. Horrible experience. Either those who check the clothes don’t know what to look for, or they’re just lost when it comes to their SOPs.

Anyone looking to pass clothes off at this location, do yourself a favor and put the effort in to sell online. You’ll get your moneys worth.

I liked shopping here before i tried to sell here. I really think they tell you to donate your clothes and then they take them out and sell them.

I dropped my clothes off (two bags, mix of new and vintage brands, a lot still with tags), came back 2.5 hrs later and was told they couldn’t use anything.it couldn’t have been more obvious they didn’t even touch my stuff.the person taking drop-offs had a really nasty attitude and made me feel judged.i got uneasy vibes from everyone working there.save yourself the time and don’t even bother.and the clothing selection is extremely mid for how “selective” they are.

Left some items to be looked at and only HALF of the items were retuned to me the next day!

I called multiple time asking about it, they said it may have been confused with personal items. They had checked the lost and found and it wasn't there.

The manager said that it was probably confused with donations and ACCIDENTLY DONATED. They told me that there was nothing they could do.

I got a call back from the manage saying that they would give me a $50 gift card. When my friend showed up to pick it up using my phone number (I was out of town), they said they couldn't give it to him without an ID.

Clothes are pretty decent but definitely a 0 for customer service. I am a very shy 24 year old black young woman. A young woman at the register was very rude when I was looking for a pair of earrings to choose and was rushing me while being verbally accosting and just plain rude. Then she accused me of exchanging the tag for a different one when it was time to checkout so she took it to the back to “make sure” I didn’t (which I did not). My feelings are very hurt by this tbh. There were lots of transgressions and passive racism throughout my whole 20 minutes shopping there. So, if you are black, please do not shop here. Go to a black owned business instead. They do not like us in their establishments.

I haven't shopped in-store in very very long, but their online shop is great! I've ordered a few times in the past year or so and have always been pleased with my purchases. Just like in-store there are some good deals on vintage and designer pieces, and they ship everywhere which is a huge plus for me.

If you’re wanting to sell some clothes DO NOT COME HERE GO TO BUFFALO EXCHANGE. I came in with two Big bags of clothes that no longer fit MOST had tags some worn once and name brand in great condition. They told me I can come back by 8 to pick up the items or they will be donated. I came back before 7 they were not finished and said I can come in the morning. I called to let them know I was coming to pick up the clothes to which they said they donated everything! Claiming that all of the clothing were not in good condition which is a lie! I looked around and saw what they sell and it’s pretty much garbage pieces, there was nothing there I would buy and it smells like old unwashed clothing and mothballs! I gave them vintage Alexander Wang and even smaller name brands like True Religion and G star most of the clothes were from Zara and they told me clothes like forever 21 wouldn’t sell! I haven’t shopped at forever 21 since high school so what are you talking about? !? !? !? ! DO NOT COME TO THESE LYING THIEVES!

Like all the other bad reviews- their buying team sucks. They took none of my clothing. I normally wouldn’t care- but I asked and their reasoning was “your things are either too worn or retail price too low to resell”.
Ok…. WHY DID I GIVE A 1 star review?

Because they are dishonest.

I noticed a pair of shoes were missing from my bag- I went back to the desk to ask and they were like, “oops we actually did buy it and forgot to give you a slip”. I got them from shien for $23. They gave me $19 for it. Which from their perspective seams very high - so besides being disorganized and not giving me the slip- their response to not buying anything from my bag bc retail was too low is actually just a lie.

In general their whole team sucks. I love beacons idea- have been going for years. But today was just a mess. Like be better. Find better buyers that actually understand how to buy.

Confusingly bad attitude from everyone who works here; better selection at buffalo exchange or the Wburg location

The staff was perfectly pleasant and, obviously, they know what they can sell or not but I am not sure it's the greatest model for gathering inventory because invariably you are wasting the time of-and alienating-potential customers. I spent about three hours of my time-one sorting through my old clothes for suitable items, one getting to the store, and another waiting for them to sort through the clothes for what they wanted-and was offered a total of $9 for two of the ten items. Instead of creating potential bad feelings between sellers and staff, why not just list the brands you are interested in on your web site? They took the two items from very well regarded American brands but none of my UK branded clothing. So they are label conscious and should probably just say so from the outset. I think it is much more lucrative to sell online and that they'll likely lose out without a better and friendlier model.

My personal experience was great! The employees were nice and welcoming really sweet person at the door that held the door open while I dragged out my giant luggage and offered my dog a treat. This place seems to have really awful reviews regarding the buying process. I work in this industry for myself but I also was a buyer for other companies with similar models to Beacon's people need to understand there willing to buy your stuff you no longer want that you most likely would've just given away. Every job as a buyer requires you to study not only the mainstream fashion markets current trends but you must also look to street style and the neighborhood your business is located in demographics. Who are your customers? What are they buying? Looking for? This requires alot of skills of observation constantly. Whenever they buy a piece they have to think do I have a customer for this in mind especially when taking risks on styles. So with that said this store definitely has an appreciation for vintage pieces which is reflected in the neighborhood if you have older unique vintage meaning 80s or older in good condition your odds are high of selling. Good variety with sizes is always helpful. They also shop for current trends so you as will see modern brand's as well as the vintage fashion that is trending now which is Y2k and 90s fashion. Whenever you choose to sell at one of these call ahead and ask many detailed questions like I did about there current inventory for example if they have too much of anything or are looking to stock more sections. Also shop around there store before hand see what they have in stock to give you in idea of the type of merchandise they may buy also there pricing. Keep in mind these shops price item's very affordably to make it accessible for the general public which is awesome. Everyone should have access to quality pieces regardless of personal finances so with thay in mind you will not be getting a ton of money per item think of it has you're selling your goods to a retailer at wholesale cost you being the wholesaler you get about 35% in cash or 50-55% in store credit I believe of whatever they pirce each individual item for. So it's definitely not much but I feel the key is to bring a lot so you sell in bulk and get a decent amount back which is what I did and it was a great outcome for me. So keep that in mind you're getting back wholesale prices if you sell in bulk and your inventory is accepted you will get a decent amount. If you have item's you spent hundreds of dollars on per piece and are looking to get return investment back this isn't for you. Sell that online or go to a consignment shop but if you have things you have had for a while in good clean condition just sitting around that you really just want to get rid off this is a good option but as always consider all these factors and call ahead ask questions. I found over the phone at this location they were also very helpful
