American Museum of Natural History

Definitely a good place to visit especially when you want to avoid the rainy days. -2 star as in my opinion it’s a must have for a museum to offer storage for luggage or jackets at the entry area. Accessibility for people with disabilities is not guaranteed everywhere, e.g manual door opening. Restrooms were not in a clean shape.

Very nice museum overall and fairly easily accessible. I'm a bit taken aback that it is call the "American" Museum of Natural History as there are several museums like this around the country, including major ones in Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington DC. While it does feel like the largest there are some strong exhibits and some weaker ones compared to say Los Angeles but, of course, still good and on the list of things for visitors and locals to take advantage.

How to give less than 5 stars.a museum where they also shot films.
Beautiful and complete, a whale hanging in an entrance hall makes you understand the grandeur of the place.also the planetarium is beautiful.which explains the universe.absolutely worth doing even if you will find a bit of a queue.

It is worth getting your tickets in advance as you have to wait an hour in line. Even so, if it is not possible, we wait for half an hour and we get them, the museum looks Ramiro if time is tight

There are quite a few things to see and there are Korean language pamphlets so it's easy to get around. The famous dinosaur fossils are on the top floor. I'm not very interested in natural history, so I watched it for about 2 hours, but it's a good place to come with children.

Great museum. Take a couple of hours out of your day to check out the exhibitions in this museum. Personally, my favorite is the "Gems & Minerals" section, hence the photos.

The best museum I've been to so far. From the moment you walk into the building to the time you leave, I was in awe and amazement. Beautiful layout, amazing displays, larger then life models. Must see for any museum lover. OH and you never know you will be there. Me and my daughters shared and elevator with Pink and her daughters. Great experience all around.

It is the best museum I have ever been about Natural History. It is very child friendly. The planetarium, animal exhibits, human origin exhibits are the best.

Cheaper tickets with the Cotypass but waste time for the Natural History Museum. At a terminal to the right of the ticket sales (where there is less waiting) you must register your Citypass number and not your reservation number for the museum. There are only 3 terminals to register. The waiting girl is getting longer quickly. Your reservation remains valid until 45 minutes after the time indicated.

I came here with my 6 year old son and we had a blast. I've been to this museum many times prior, but it was his first time. He enjoyed a lot the exhibits, especially the dinosaur, aquatic and the insect exhibits. There's a lot to see here in the museum, especially considering the cost of entry, which I think is affordable for what they offer. All the exhibits offer a wealth of knowledge and the presentation is lovely.

We also did the butterfly exhibit which you have to pay extra for, but it was completely worth it. You're in a humidified environment surrounded by exotic butterflies. Do note that you can't directly touch them but they can/will land on you. I had one land on my nose, and one landed on my son (he wasn't too happy about that). Either way, it's something I highly suggest experiencing.

I recommend you visit if you're even slightly interested in the history of the world. And don't shy away from the idea of bringing children as there's plenty of entertainment for all ages.

There is so much to see and read, I would highly recommend as there is so much to learn. One visit gives an insight making you want to go back. I highly recommend - good security, spacious, followed all protocols and very well sectioned.

There are SO many amazing things to see and learn. I was overwhelmed by the size of the dinosaur at the entrance, not knowing yet that there is a bigger dinosaur inside, and that blue whale… you gotta go.

We always try to include a visit to the museum when we're in New York. I could spend a week here. Love the Hayden Planetarium. We just did dinosaurs this trip. Loved it. We had advanced tickets, arrived 15 minutes early and had almost no time on line.

My favorite museum in NYC.
One visit is never enough because there is so much to see: the planetarium, the large whale and marine life, the butterfly conservatory, the exhibits, the dinosaur, the hall of gems, the forest floor area, birds.
I've been here over 10 times and it's well worth it. I discover new things each time. Plan to spend at least 2 hours to get a decent glimpse into the museum.

Had a Great time here for my birthday. I haven't visited since I was a kid and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Would have stayed longer but wearing a mask for 4 hours inside is tough.

Please don't book the 4pm tickets, the museum closes at 5: 30 pm, and it's impossible to see even 10% of it in 1.5 hours.

Haven't been in a while, some things are the same but all in all very well kept and clean. Friendly people and a great day-cation. Worth the day trip!

We spent my daughter’s 16th Birthday here. I would recommend two days or more to see it all. I teach Pre Colombian Culture in Social Studies and I could spend all day in that area. This is an amazing place!

The very best natural history museum in the United States! Be sure to visit the life scale blue whale model and the TREX!

It was a wonderful experience. I wish I could have spent a much longer time to visit all of the exhibits. But I you're a teacher like myself then I recommend taking your students to the there. The exhibits have a wide variety of plants, animals, minerals, and even history. Just as they say a picture tells a 1000 words then this Museum is telling many wonderful stories.

No so much fun. The exhibits were redundant and not easy to navigate. Missed shows due do lack of directions

A museum that must be visited at least once in life. If you love sciences and nature, you’ll love everything about this place.

Amazing museum.
Bring some clothes because it's very cold inside.
You can bring your own food and eat outside the building but still inside the museum.

I don't know how to describe American Museum. We love the Museum so much. Me and my daughter go there every year; At least twice a year. They've been closed about 19 months because of Covid 19 Pandemic. Now it's reopened and we had a great time. We just went there after reopen at June 22,2021. We will go again there next month again. We have to support that place.

Don’t bother making a reservation, poor security and they do not follow covid guidelines. They rush people in and keep you waiting outside on a long line. Why am I paying for tickets and dealing with a long wait? Close the time slot!

The place is more than amazing, every section is articulately designed. Don't miss the movie about the vertebrates in the 4th floor where you can see the dinosaurs. I really enjoyed the place and definitely will go again.

Purchased tickets in advance. There was a only one 2 hour + line outside. No ticket holder line. No Covid restrictions on the number of people allowed. It was mobbed. Parking Garage was closed without any notification online. No parking anywhwere. Local garages full. Planetarium reimaginged to a 4 minute stand up waste of time. Many exhibits closed. I've been here many times. Today was a waste of my time and money and a terrible experience for my grandson due to overcrowding.

Bought the ticket for 4pm entrance. They now close at 5.30pm. I know it is my fault for not better checking that info, but I'd have appreciated more clarity in that detail. As a scientist it was a dream for me, now it is just a sour memory. Also, some of the museum staff is not helpful at all. The app also sucks

1hr wait for tickets even though you have specific time reservation. Horrible experience with kids waiting on line.

Overall, an awesome museum with great stuff to see. Our kids were beside themselves being there.

We spent about 2 hours there with 3 kids 8 and under, but we didn't even make it to the first floor, and it felt like the were other things we were missing on other floors. You could easily spend 4+ hours there if you wanted to. There's so much to see!

My only critique is in regards to the flow of the museum. There are several spaces that have only one way in and out, essentially making them dead ends. We had to double-back on ourselves a few times because of this. The exit was also confusing. You currently enter on the second floor and exit on the first floor, but that wasn't marked well enough.

This is my third time visit over there, amazing museum all time, best place for kids learn about nature.every year they have a different show on museum. Back again, loved

The American Museum of Natural History was only a partially pleasant experience; however, the service and layout was less than satisfactory. When inquiring about museum guidelines, protocols, and general information, the staff was poorly professional and talked down to guests. In addition, there were no food and beverage amenities available. Fortunately, the overall exhibitions were amazing to see and there was much information for family and friends to enjoy. This place is recommended, but do not expect good service.

Not efficient at all. Waited over 1 hour in line after i had purchased two general admission tickets. For how old this museum is, you’d think they can give you e-tickets to expedite the process to even enter. My local AMC movie theater has a better entry/purchasing process

This is my second time going and I love it but make sure you are doing no other walking about that day because my group had to rush so we could get back to our hotel because our feet where killing us. Overall a great place and the staff is super sweet.
