I had overall a positive experience getting my hair toned. The stylist was very considerate and careful with color choice and got the desired result. 5 stars on the result

However I was surprised that although the pricing they shared with me when I first reached out and that I confirmed by asking the lady at front desk before I got my hair done, was different from what they eventually charged me. They actually asked for 50% more than the price they quoted me, saying it is because I have long hair. 50%! I have very very little volume of hair but they did not consider this.

Mostly, I wished they had explained in more detail what it would cost before hand, instead of afterwards when I cannot do anything

I am so excited to share my experience at Aate Beauty Salon. I made an appointment for a digital perm and Min was my hairdresser. You can tell that he puts 110% into his work and cares a lot about his clients, their wants, and most importantly, their hair health.

When I arrived, Min thoroughly examined my hair and assessed my hair type and hair quality. I showed him the hairstyles that I wanted, but he said my hair wasn’t suitable for these styles. My hair is thin and extremely damaged at the ends (I was once a platinum blond). He explained that in order to get the best results, we would have to trim a chunk off the ends. Otherwise, the curls would not carry a prominent shape on hair as damaged as mine.

Although I felt disappointed, I highly respect Min for being up so transparent about what can and cannot be done with my hair. Other hairdressers might not be so honest and tell you what you would want to hear.

I was very reluctant about trimming my hair because I waited so long for it to grow out. Min was very understanding of my wants and he suggested to snip a tiny bit off the ends and add a bunch of layers.

In the end, I adored the results! It was sort of an edgy wolf cut without bangs. Min explained in great detail how to take care of my newly permed hair to secure the longevity of my curls.

Side note: In my opinion, the most pivotal trait of a hairdresser isn’t that they the best at their craft, but rather creative problem solving and really understanding their clients to ensure that all their needs are being fully addressed within preset limitations.

I would definitely recommend booking an appointment with Min at Aate Beauty Salon.

Mimi gave me the best haircut I’ve had in years. She was fast and detailed, and when I told her I wanted to grow out my bangs, she anticipated how they would grow out and cut them accordingly. I almost can’t wait to go back!

First time dying my level 1 black hair. I got so many compliments on it! They were efficient and professional, and attentive to how much your hair and scalp can handle. Of note, it helps if you have a general idea of what you want.

Had a cut and color here today and this is still my favorite place after all these years ️️️

Was in NYC for work and stopped by last minute to see Mimi for a cut and blowout. Called to make an appointment and they got me in the same day. Mimi gave me the perfect cut! The price was more than reasonable for the city. Bring cash to pay and save on the tax.

Got a cut and some face framing with Mimi. She did a great job and the whole cut was done within an hour!

Blow out… on 32nd in New York City. I was a walk in and no problem, massaging shampoo with product that smelled delish. Lili is a pro, I have very curly hair and she smoothed it to perfection. They use top of the line styling products. Be sure to bring cash to save on the credit card fees. I would go back!

Aate Beauty is a true gem. My favorite stylist is Soomi but the place is full of talented and very professional staff.

They squeezed me in last minute and I showed them my wedding pic. Mimi did a phenomenal job with that.

Had a clean up. They did a pretty good job at trimming off my excessive hairs and making it look fresh after.

This is my third time coming to Soomi at Aate Beauty Salon and I’m extremely happy with her service! The first time I came I had Soomi perm my hair and it turned out great! She talked me through the process and how to care for my hair. Most recently I’ve come to Soomi to bleach my hair, and I’m so happy with how it came out. The whole salon is very nice. I made my appointments by DMing them on instagram, but you can also call. Would definitely recommend Aate Beauty Salon for anyone, but especially if you are looking for an Asian hair salon who knows Asian hair very well.

Min cut my hair and he was really patient about what I wanted and provided great suggestions. The execution was awesome too. 10/10 will come back

I got a men's haircut. I have a reference picture prehaircut; I just wanted about half an inch off the sides. The stylist made a mistake and kept trying to fix it, but kept cutting it shorter and shorter while trying to fix it. Now it's multiple inches too short

As a fellow Korean, I am trying to endure this and am leaving this message.
What kind of hair is this? It's the worst

Song Ah helped me figure out different looks when I wasn't 100% sure about what I wanted. She was very detail-oriented and patient! Got my first perm from here and I feel happy about how it turned out. Little bit pricey but this place is super professional. Thank you!
