This office has gotten very sketchy recently with mystery bills and constantly changing doctors & hygienists. Ever since Dr. Semenetz passed away, and Dr. Paterson retired, this place has gone very much downhill.
During my previous visit, they lost my dental records and I was left in the chair for 20 minutes while they tried to figure out where my dental records were.
After that, I was sent my mother's bill despite us being on different plans for the past few years.
I was also sent a mysterious bill for over $100 for "Patient moved - Debit". I called twice after 11am, and had no answer. I instead drove 20 minutes out to sort out the issue in person. I was in the waiting room for over half an hour until someone saw me when I kept knocking on the desk and calling out for assistance. Everyone was in the break room eating, and I was told they were in a "team meeting" for the next hour. I persisted and was told that my mystery bill was a bill meant for the billing company and not myself. But my name is still on the bill, and is subject to go to collections if unpaid. As of tonight, I've received another email for that bill as unpaid. I asked them for a number to the billing department, they said their billing department has no phone number or address, all they can do is email them.

Its sad to see how this place has gone from a great practice to a bad one since Dr Peter Paterson has retired. Quality of doctors have gone down as many different doctors have now been added to the roster who do not have the same level of professionalism, empathy and service as Dr. Paterson himself. Something like a tooth crown falling off a root canal is not considered a priority treatment and no appointment was provided with my regular doctor for 2 months. Appointment was offered with a dentist who most avoid and always have appointments available. I guess I have to look for a different dentist now but its sad that this wonderful practice has run its course.

How can I give ZERO stars.
If you value your hard earned money, do not go here. Every month we had to call them to see if there is any bills for us. They bill me $694 for a service we received more than a year ago. I have the health reimbursement account that I could use to pay for any charges that is not covered by insurance but when I submit this claim, they rejected it because the services were provided an year ago.

I would NOT recommend this terrible place even to an enemy

What a disappointment. I have been coming to Plainboro Dental Arts for 34 years and now considering locating a new Dental office. I would give them 5 stars each time I had service in the past, but since they joined Simply Beautiful Smiles which my guess is Plainsboro Dental Arts was purchased by a year or so ago, it has declined. Now whan I get my teeth cleaned by a technician which is fine in past a Dentist would at least stop in take a look and speak to you, have not seen a Dentist the last few times I have had my teeth cleaned. I also would receive a survey in the past asking how my visit was each time, I do not receive the survey anylonger, my guess is because the reviews are like this one, so they stop asking for them.

There is so much confusion about bill payments and what they had informed you on phone. I was asked the insurance id number and if it covers so & so plan. I clearly didn’t know and they said we will check with the id number and it was a yes and that’s when I had booked the appointment. After a few weeks I receive a cheque and they say your insurance does not cover this plan. If it does not then why wasn’t I informed that and I wouldn’t have gotten my checkup in the first place. So much of confusion and misunderstanding.

Efficient and careful cleaning. My teeth are sensitive and good care and patience was used Dr. Verma and her assistant to make this as pleasant and experience as possible. A good job was also done in removing the coffee stains from my teeth.

Love this practice and we have been going here since many years. I miss Dr Paterson but Dr M is also so very caring and took care of the problem with my teeth ASAP. Appointments for cleaning have to be made way in advance as they fill up very quickly. I wish we could get sooner cleaning appointments for my boys. Like how I get reminders for appointments couple times via texts.

My cleaning exam went well and everyone was pleasant. It has been about 18 months since my last cleaning, Covid lockdown, and upon arrival the front desk staff was welcoming but new to me. The previous front desk staff that I am familiar with were not present. As I mentioned, the cleaning went well, very professional. I will say that the process appeared rushed and the staff seemed more on auto pilot rather than their usual relaxed mode. Several issues were found and to me it seemed that the conversation on what will be done was discussed primarily between the staff and it felt that I, the patient, was left out of the plan. Upon asking questions the answers I received were very quick and very little discussion took place as to what the patient wanted. It seemed the even my concerns were dismissed rather quickly. This in not the correct way, in my opinion, to handle an expensive and somewhat painful program to a patient who has had many terrible experiences as a youth with a dentist that I swear was sadistic.

All of my visits that I interacted with Dr. Paterson were much more relaxed and understanding of the patients anxiety. Dr. Patterson was much calmer and took the correct time to explain everything and would solicit my questions and he would always have the correct answers. This last experience was definitely not what I expected, so much so I plan on looking for another practice that better fits my personality.

5/18/2021 REVIEW UPDATE
At my cleaning I was informed that I needed a "deep cleaning", in fact I was told that I would probably need this "deep cleaning" EVERY 2 or 3 years. In addition, the dentist informed me that my bridge needed replacing as a result of the gum receding. I thought about this after I left the office and came to the conclusion that this just doesn't seem right. I asked myself "how in such a short time could I have developed all these expensive issues? " It just did not add up. I scheduled a second opinion with a periodontist and after a thorough examination my suspicions were confirmed. The consulting dentist indicated that "I am not a periodontist candidate" and as far as my bridge was concerned the dentist said "if you want to replace your bridge you would be doing so ONLY for aesthetic reasons, there is no dental reason to do so. "

This should be my final update on, my last visit to Plainsboro Dental Arts, and it was and will be my last visit to this dental practice. I wish anyone reading my experience with Plainsboro Dental Arts to decide for themselves as to what, if any, decisions towards your dental care to be made on your own terms.

My opinions and views about Plainsboro Dental Arts are mine alone.

I called after hours with a dental emergency. Received a call back from a dentist just minutes later. She reviewed my situation in depth. Was very thorough & made sure I'd be comfortable over night until the next morning. In the office the next day, again, she was extremely thorough & caring. A great experience!

My hygienist, Stefanie, was great! She made me aware of everything she was doing and was very friendly. It was a pain free experience and she made me feel comfortable. Dr. Seto was also very friendly and explained everything so I understood. I will request both Stefanie and Dr. Seto every time I go!

Always a great experience. The staff irked diligently to accommodate my late request to reschedule my appointment. Once there, received great care, again. Would not hesitate to recommend as a great dental staff from office staff to hygienist to dentist.

Happy to be back with this group. My family and I went here for a couple years and insurance changed again so we had to change dentists. The latest insurance change made Plainsboro in network again and I am so happy to be back.

I have been coming here from Edison NJ for over 25 years. The front desk is excellent and professional and their hygienists are top notch. I do miss the consistency of having Dr Patterson there but the rotation of 4 dentists does take a little getting used to. Nevertheless they do coordinate well with my periodontal team in Edison and have no issues currently.

I went for a cleaning. The waiting room was not crowded and I was admitted almost instantly. The hygienist was courteous and professional. The doctor was attentive to my needs.

Tammy in reception is rude and unprofessional. She failed to properly address a scheduling issue. Her response was not to try to help address the situation but simply to say you’re not in the schedule and that’s protocol. A complete failing of her duties. Further, she laughed at pain, and hung up. This is the face of this medical practice.

I have been here 3 or 4 times and have had a different dentist every time. It would be nice to have one consistent dentist. They really seem to push getting work done. They also want to do work on areas THEY have already worked on. I filled out the survey AND wrote about my disappointment and no one has contacted me. It shows what they are really about which is not focusing on client relationships. I'll be looking for a more trustworthy option.
