Safari Pets

I live right across the street, and since discovering them I have enjoyed every visit! The shopkeepers that I have met are very courteous and I have great conversations every time. They keep a very modest amount of live animals and they take very good care of.them & their environments from what I can see - and the reptiles are freakin' HEALTHY! Nice chonky geckos and well-fed snakes, all good signs! They also have a nice selection of supplies and accessories- oh and a LOT of nice aquariums and terrariums, some appeared lightly used for good prices. I prefer small pet stores, so I am rooting for them.

I love this place. Always have great customer service. Huge variety of pets and pet supplies.

Cool store! You can pay a few dollars for them to feed a few dead fish to a tank of piranhas. Definitely more knowledgeable than your typical franchise store (Petco, Petsmart, etc.).

I have bought a couple of fish, They also test my fish water. They are very nice and are willing to help.

Place was awesome. Has an amazing fish section and lots of reptiles that look very healthy.

Buster & his team are the best! Always very helpful & friendly! Bonus, Buster has so much knowledge!

So this "Simmons Clan" posting the bad reviews yesterday must be a Lil butt hurt over being asked to leave cause you were drunk in the store WITH your kids. Get over it, you were outta line when the employee asked you to leave.this store has knowledgeable and fun employees.will always go there!

Loved the atmosphere plus they always have what I need. When other pet stores are out or don't stock the product plus everyone is nice and friendly

Small yes but I didn't see one dirty fish tank that had fish in it. And I saw no dead fish either. I will be buying my fish here once I get set up.

I never give a five-star to anyone for is the highest I guess I would say four and three quarters for Safari pet because we have always got the best service ever there and they are kind and helpful and go out of their way to answer all questions you have and if they don't know the answer they will find out the answer even if they have to call you back and let you know later. They are awesome the owner is awesome! Recommend this place for anyone that has exotic animals especially reptile.

03/17/22 I bought two hamsters in this store and I didn't realize that they were sick they had their eyes glued with pus and had diarrhea one lasted three days and the other lasted five days they hardly moved or ate or drank water I tried to help them to drink water and they drank a little, check the animals before buying them so that they don't take money from you, as happened to me, I lost $45.00 DOLLARS for two hamsters.

They carry Plenty of Fish but they don't carry enough reptile supplies or reptiles somewhat satisfied with what they are have

For the hard work of the owners/management/staff here, I know everyone is short staffed and it’s hard to find people, and or the time to train. Although I did not mine someone might. I came in for a Leopard Gecko, knowing nothing about them myself you expect the staff to know for you, what it is you’re buying. Well my “Leopard Gecko” is actually a “African Fat-Tailed Gecko” although close in relation, I did have to modify her care plan. But I am very happy with her althought it wasn’t what I originally wanted, she’s just as good, and I love my new pet! No hard feelings! Just don’t forget to do some research, I’d hate to have paid a leopard gecko price for a more uncommon African fat tail when the staff had no clue.

Always go here for my fish food bearded dragon food and all other animal needs. Great service, and the owner is kind friendly and very informative about all your animal needs and questions. Got my Oscar and gold fish there and they are thriving.

Topeka definitely doesn't offer very many Chinchilla friendly options for their cage. Just cuz something says made for chinchillas doesn't been its actually safe for them. I found these items at Safari Pets. I wish somewhere in town sold wood ledges for them to play on. Toys as well. Of course they can only have certain types of wood. I could go on and on.

Prepare to be ripped off.

I don’t usually like to leave negative reviews, but today’s experience was remarkably bad. I went in today and was not greeted by the employee (owner) inside who seemed annoyed by my presence there. I payed a little more than I was expecting for 36 super worms to feed to one of my reptiles. The bag of worms looked to have significantly less than three dozen, so when I got home I dumped them all out and counted 21. I payed for three dozen feeders and got less than two dozen. They clearly had a ton more in stock, and he bagged them in front of me so I’m not sure how this could have been a mistake.

I’ve heard stories about him being rude towards female customers but was willing to give the benefit of the doubt. I regret this. Do not go here if you are female presenting!

Not the place I’d go to buy or take kids. Very unfriendly, to be a pet store. If you Don’t like your job then quit the owner seem to has a few people he likes, that’s it not customer friendly.

I think this is a great place although there is a concern for the rodents Heath. The chinchillas look like there miserable. Actually we are considering getting them because they have no chew toys or shelf’s to play on even if there going to be bought in a few day, but the price is pretty good and the fish are wonderful. There is so many cool fish and same with the reptiles and arachnids. I would love to go there agian.

Excellent service. Clean and well supplied. All aspects of this shop from sevice to supplies are goood and everything is well maintained. Also good prices. Hard to find stores like this anymore. Its not over the top and flashy. It serves a proper purpose in this day and age. Highly recommend it. I drive 50 miles just to go there.

The man inside didn't seem to care if he had any customers. When I asked if he would get any certain animals in he replied with whenever they become a available. When I asked about something else. He completely ignored me altogether. Last but not least all the animals and reptiles as well as pet supplies are way overpriced. Will not be going here ever again.

My husband and I bought a filter system from then in 2017. Its been great. Worked wonderfully this entire time. Last night my daughter tried to help, but realllyyyy over fed the fish after bedtime. Today we are down 1 fish and trying to save the other 2. I called trying to ask for the same filter system but because I am not fish literate I was hung up on. My husband is the one that's set the tank up.he works 3rd shift and had to be at work at 630pm tonight. When I called back, it rang 3 or 4 times and then it was answered. BUT he wasn't talking to me. He was talking about me to someone else talking about how I didn't know what I wanted. Sorry thats why I called you guys. Done. Petsmart was much more helpful and not degrading. Won't be back.

I was brand new, trying to raise a healthy bearded dragon for the first time. I was so frustrated looking at all of the youtube/online sites for the best advice, all of the debating on "what was best". Then I went to safari pets.this was the best decision I could have made! THEY helped me set up the best healthiest home for him. I am grateful for each time I have a question (because I am still learning) that they have the patience to continue to make sure I am raising a happy dragon. Their prices are very comparable! And their knowledge is spot on!

First time going to this store and will be the last. We will never go back after the rude service from the gentleman working there. It seems he is not very happy. No salt water fish as per the sign out front. Girls asked to feed the piranhas that are at the store. I paid and said please and thank you. He never said one word. He came over and dropped the small fish in the tank and left. If I didn't give the girls a heads up that he was coming they would have missed the whole thing. My daughter pointed out the sign did not say, "Watch the piranhas being feed". Girls mentioned that he was not happy or a polite man.

This place is awesome. Went in with my brother just to join an look around. The owner, let me get a free dog ear treat! Because i was unsure if my boy like it. HE LOVED IT! NEED MORE!

The owner was very personable! Oh my goodness I didn’t even have to tell them what pet matched my buzz feed quiz before he pointed me to the fish isle!
