First Smiles Dental and Braces

My 9 year old has had horrible traumatic experiences with dentist. We had tried this practice previously and it was with a different doctor. They calmed my son down. And he had his work complete with out a meltdown

Short version: Do not waste your time coming here. The most unprofessional medical practice I have EVER dealt with. Look elsewhere. ANYWHERE else. DO. NOT. COME. HERE.

Long version: I was referred to take my child here by my family dentist since they are not equipped with nitrous. Scheduled the cavity consultation appt for 9/5 in the morning. First Smiles calls me that morning to reschedule the appt. Can honestly say I’ve never had a medical practice reschedule me, but whatever. So we reschedule the consultation a week later for 9/11. THE MORNING OF THE RESCHEDULED CONSULT THEY CANCEL ON ME AGAIN. So we reschedule FOR A THIRD time for 9/14. GUESS WHAT ANOTHER PHONE CALL THE MORNING OF TO CANCEL! The doctor “hurt his foot. ” EXCUSE ME? So the practice is going to reschedule all appts that day because he can’t sit on his rolling chair to check out some teeth? NICE.

Finally got my son in for his 8am consult appt for 9/19 (First appt was supposed to be 9/5 and here we are two weeks later FINALLY getting in). Right off the bat: run down facility. I got the “ick” vibe right away when I walked in. There are NO walls or partitions separating one chair from another in the back. Just a row of chairs and patients and their parents looking at each other. Zero privacy. It’s such a strange set up. The doctor tells me my son needs a baby root canal on one side and normal fillings on the other. Sweet. Can’t wait for this. We get the two appts on the books. Root canal up first for the next week and a few days later will be the other side.

When I went to check out at the end, the male dentist and some other staff were SO loud at the front desk when the receptionist was trying to explain the treatment plan I truly couldn’t hear what she was saying. Like be aware of your surroundings. No one in that group stopped to say good morning or acknowledge they have a paying customer standing right there. Just kept laughing and being so unprofessional. So off-putting. The “ick” vibe just stayed with me throughout my entire experience.

Guess what happens the appt day of the baby root canal? THEY. CALL. ME. TO. CANCEL. “All the assistants called out today so we don’t have any assistants here. ” You have GOT to be joking me. Once again- I am prepping school for my child be out that day AND prepping my child for what I expect to be a traumatic dentist appt just for them to cancel. AGAIN. I’m so disappointed and frustrated I’m crying on the phone to them. HOW DO YOU LET THIS HAPPEN? THREE appointments rescheduled? THREE? !

First of all, you just LET the assistants call out on the same day? Please. Put your foot down and say too many people already called out and you have to be to work. Where is the management in this place? The dentist just gets to have a free day and just refuses to work on anyone? Second of all, call in the other dentist! You can be each others assistants. Get creative with some problem solving here. GET SOME OF YOUR PATIENTS SEEN. But nope. Everyone’s cancelled that day. Patients don’t matter. It’s fine.

They were able to keep the appt for our second go around that was already on the schedule but the only opening they had next to reschedule the appt they cancelled was SIX WEEKS LATER. I’m sorry- WHAT? You’re telling me my kid needs a freaking baby root canal and you can’t get him in ANY sooner? Unbelievable.

This place is a joke. They already got too much of my money with the $50 consultation. Taking our services elsewhere to a practice out of network. Would rather deal with a CLEAN and RELIABLE and CARING practice over this dump.

When I called to cancel that second appointment after taking our business elsewhere, the person answering the phone asked me if I wanted to reschedule the appt I was canceling and I said “no we’re not using your practice anymore. ” She said “okay. ” LOL. You don’t want any sort of reason why? Just “okay bye. ” If it were my business I’d want to know why I just lost a patient but it’s OBVIOUS they do not care about their patients.

If you call and don’t have insurance and offer to pay they will deny you also the web page states they do sedation for kids but it’s a lie they will tell you the that is not true

This is the best dentist that my girls have ever been to. They feared going to the dentist so much and it was a battle to get them to go. But First Smiles with Dr. Weinstein he is the best!

The dentists and hygienists at First Smiles are AMAZING. My 7 year old has been going here since he was 2 and has always loved the dentist. My 4 year old has a major gag reflex and is a little more skittish but they worked with him so that they could do all dental work without him gagging and even managed to get xrays done! They're incredibly patient and amazing with kids!

My son has been a patient here for the past two years for braces and they have been phenomenal! So helpful, friendly and kind. I highly recommend this place!

My 3 year old had to get some work done and we were not sure how she would do during the procedure. Dr. Weinstein and the staff were very patient with her. They encouraged her along the way. She was able to pick out stickers and something from the treasure box when done. We will be going back for future visits.

I’ve been going here since I was a kid. I now bring my child here and as another am very happy with the care we receive. The staff is all so friendly and tries to make the experience a good one for my child. Definitely recommend First Smiles

Reliable and affordable braces and palate expander done for my daughter. Friendly and efficient staff. Reasonable payments. Overall we are extremely satisfied. Thanks to the whole crew!:)

Listen, my kid was terrified to go to the dentist due to past bad experiences. He was crying in the car because he didn't want to go. He got there and seen the fish tank just like in finding Nemo and that helped him calm down a bit. When it was time for him to go in and get xrays done, let me just say Monica was soooo patient and kind. She seen he was starting to cry and got down on his level and walked him through the steps, amazing! He was also terrified to lay back in the chair, again she showed him what she was going to go, let him feel the tools and reassured him multiple times. Dentist came in and he was great with him, my son normally wouldn't open him mouth because he was thinking they were going to pull a tooth but he was able to get in there, count his teeth and use tools! I am very pleased that they took the time and helped him be brave! Thank you so much!

We love this office. The staff and Dr. Weinstein are so great with our daughter. I highly recommend this office if you have a child. They are the best our child has gone to by far.

It was my sons first dental visit today, he is 5yrs old non verbal Autistic so he is sensitive to touch sometimes. My son really liked the space he loves fish so he was super happy when he seen they had a fish tank, the staff was really nice and understanding from the moment we walked in. Dr. Weinstein was really patient and helped my son get comfortable with him. So happy we found First Smiles Dental!

Great kid’s dentist office! Staff is very kid friendly and so are the Dentists! My son loves the fish tank and TV - calms his nerves before he is taken to a room!

Both my boys love their Dentist here they are very t thorough and they explain what needs to be done to the children and the parents which I feel more comfortable
When they tell the kiddos step by what needs to be done. Makes their experience a happy one.

Always like coming here. Front desk always nice and helpful and we rarely have to wait to get taken back. All the dentists and dental assistants are so patient and kind. Also a very clean dental office. Hard to find such a good dentist that takes state insurance. So glad we found them.

Dr. Weinstein is a really professional! My son 2y.o had first teeth cleaning. I was worried that he will cry a lot but doctor did it super fast and qualitatively! At the end of procedure my son got a gift from doctor and some stickers, and was really happy) Dr explained me everything and gave recommendations! All staff is very friendly and positive! Office is nice and super clean! Highly recommended as first dental experience for your kids!

We were behind on appointments for my son due to COVID and this was my daughter's first trip. Everyone from reception, hygienists, to the dentist were extremely nice to my kiddos and myself. Was expecting some lectures because we were behind, but everyone was understanding and there was no lecturing. Dr. Weinstein was extremely nice and personable with the kids- he made all of us feel comfortable. My son does have to come back for a filling and because everyone was so kind, I feel 100% confident that they will do a great job when we return.

If your kid is afraid, nervous or anxious, look for Byron he is the best! Very kind, gentle, patient and made my daughter feel comfortable and stop crying. He is an angel with kids.

My son needed some extensive orthodontic work done and we were referred to this office. They have been so great in explaining each step to him as they go, being gentle, and informing me of things I need to know about the process. We have been going to this office for years and it always has been a pleasant experience!

Horrible experiences repeatedly with receptionist "Melissa. " She is extremely rude, inpatient, and lacks customer service skills. Rudely interrupts when speaking to her regarding your child and their care. Extremely uneducated. No manners whatsoever. Please improve the training with your front desk staff, as they directly communicate with your patients, and a give terrible impression of your clinic.

Called on 2/17/22 to schedule an appointment and we were given a date for a visit of 4/7/22 at 9 am. Truly great availability. Highly recommend it

Both the dentist and the dental tech were very patient and kind with my daughter. They explained how everything would go, and made her first dentist visit go quickly. It made the whole experience less stressful for her and I. Definitely recommend.

I tried to schedule an appointment earlier for my 6 year old son. The receptionist who I spoke with was extremely rude. First, I was put on two very long holds. In the middle of talking she very bruptly interrupted, told me to hold and once she came back to the phone within a few seconds of talking once again made me hold. Once she finally came back to the phone she proceeded to tell me the first appointment was not only a consult, but also to determine if my child would be a good fit to be taken on as a client. I don’t understand what that would mean.he is a child who needs a dentist. From what I understand this is a pediatric dental office. I said no thank you and I would find somewhere else. She didn’t seem too concerned I think that her goal from the start was to get me off the phone. With all the pediatric dental offices in the area it wasn’t hard to get him in elsewhere.

Very friendly staff, went out of their way to make the kids feel comfortable. Very knowledgeable and went the extra step to make sure we were kept in the loop on everything.

We absolutely love it here! They really are the nicest team we have ever been to. We have always had great experiences here but today made it even better. It was my daughters birthday and they gave her a special goody bag and the whole office came together and sang for her! Truly amazing!

My son just started the process for braces, the staff at First Smiles has been amazing! They explained everything to him and walked me through our options step by step. I was very impressed with how often they checked with my son to ensure his comfort and understanding. I’m so glad this is where we decided to go for his braces.

The whole team at First Smiles is First Rate! My daughter has a whole lot of anxiety regarding her dental care and has had to have some unfortunate work done recently and we just had a wonderful experience. Dr. Weinstein, Samantha and Ana were all fantastically patient and understanding and did a great job trying to calm her down and explain each step as she has a need to understand each part of the procedures; what they’re going to do and tools they use. Ana was especially patient and entertained her chattiness about various topics while trying to complete her first cleaning. Thank you all for doing an amazing job with kiddos that are nervous! You are so appreciated!

Such a lovely place. My kids are very shy but 1st when it was my daughter's first visit and then today my son's first cleaning the techs are so patient and thoughtful. My son (3) went from hiding in his mask to wide open and cooperative in a few minutes.

Two of my granddaughters liked coming here, because they feel comfortable, safe and good after their check up. They liked the treats they both get after their appointments.

Had our first appointment for our toddler. They were fast, efficient and definitely kid focused. The staff was wonderful and made it a great first experience at the dentist. We can’t wait to “count our teeth” again!

This was my son's first appointment with them and they did phenomenal. Because my son has special needs and they really work with me and him for his first check up. He did great.

My 4 year old had to have a tooth pulled, and they were amazing. They were very welcoming and keeping my little one calm and happy. He never felt scared or uncomfortable!

We have been taking our 9 year old to First smiles dental since he was about 3. Now my 5 year old and 2 year old go there as well and we love it there. They always make my boys feel very comfortable and at ease, and my boys are always excited for a prize at the end of the appointment. Would highly recommend!

I was very pleased with our recent visit. My son is very afraid of needles and has sensory issues. He needed to have a cavity filled and the staff was so great! They took the extra time before the appointment to walk me through the process and options and answered all my questions so that I was able to prepare my son for the procedure. The staff also did an awesome job of talking my son through the procedure and kept him calm the whole time! They definitely turned a potentially horrible experience into a positive one for my son! My first grader is terribly fearful. The staff in this office have the most patience I have ever seen, far beyond my own mommy magic! They didn’t rush or pressure her, explained everything they did before they touched her, earning her trust and providing comfort! There are not enough praises for our experience there! The dentist is fast and did an amazing job!

Everyone there is so friendly and the hygienists and dentist are so awesome with my daughter and son. They take good care of my kids.

Entire staff, just amazing!
I feel so comfortable with our dentist and I really feel like we are a team. Today was sooooo hard. Tooth extraction on my 5 year old. These folks from receptionist to hygienist to dentist are just fantastic!

This dental visit was our first and last here. First I want to say, the hygienist was absolutely sweet and lovely, the dentist was very good with my 4.5 year old son.
That being said, from top to bottom the experience for me was awful. I was shamed by the receptionist for not taking my son to the dentist over and over, even when I tried to explain that my mother is a hygienist and often looks at his teeth and advises me, my kids do not drink any juice or any gummy candies etc.she over and over kept criticizing me in front of my son for not bringing him. And over all she was unfriendly on top of not explaining the paperwork I was supposed to be filling out.
Then the dentist did the same exact thing but WORSE. My son does not like to be touched by strangers so he was very wiggley and upset during the exam, I knew he would be. She said “that’s why we suggest you bring them from babies, if you had been doing that, he wouldn’t be acting this way. ” I’m his mother, I do not need that kind of input from a stranger that knows ZERO about us. There were at least 4-5 more comments like that before we left.
By the way, this entire time I was being pushed by the receptionist and dentist to make him cleaning appointments.over and over. I understand it’s also a business and they want people coming back but maybe they should think about that before chastising mothers and care givers for making their own choices with their children.
We will not be going back for any reason.

I have a special needs Granddaughter, Monica, who is 7, non verbal, autism. We had gone before several times with Dr Megan. Today, we met with Dr. Leila Younger who allowed me to bring her in same day. Monica has been hitting her face while I feed her, and she had a loose tooth that wasn't coming out. I assumed the adult tooth was growing in and putting pressure on her. Dr. Younger was so kind, and patience with Monica. Monica, is also very sensitive and can take on 4-5 adults kicking and screaming if she doesn't want to be examined. But First Smiles Dental has special needs training. They know exactly what to say during the visit where we don't have to restrain her! In 15 min, she was examined, gel to numb the gums, pulled the loose tooth, and got her to bite down on the swab! Anyone with Special needs kids understand this is next to miracle. Monica was happy as we left, and gave everyone a big grin. The entire staff is nice, and the office is very open and welcoming. Thank you so much!

Amazing staff. Dr Younger has been treating our son (who has a severe disability) for many years and our other 4 children. We have been so grateful to have a dentist who is so caring and invested in her patients. I would recommend this practice to anyone - they would be equally as impressed as we are.
