Beth has provided excellent PT, both prior to and post Prostatectomy
If you’re going through this procedure, I highly recommend you contact Beth for your PT needs.
She is a professional, courteous, caring and kind person who will help you make your recovery easier and faster.
Remember though, it is up to you to do what she prescribes. It does get better when you do your part!
Thank you Beth for all you have done and continue to for me.

I am so grateful for Beth and her practice. I was very nervous to go at first, and I'm glad I did. She did a wonderful job explaining things, creating a calm environment, and building trust before even starting treatment. I think all healthcare providers could learn from her about bedside manner.

Beth is extremely knowledgeable in a type of PT that many men do not know exists or let alone do not even know the condition exists.
You better put your big boy pants on because she takes it very seriously and expects the same of you. It is a very complex issue and takes a lot of dedication to commit to the regiment.
I have never had a care provider respond so fast to emails, calls, and even texts. That is extremely rare these days.
Thank you for setting the bar higher Dr Shelly.

I was referred to this practice by my midwife. Beth Shelly suggested some simple daily modifications to improve my SPD pain and after only 2 visits I’m feeling much more confident about getting through the last few weeks of my pregnancy. Highly recommend for anyone suffering from SPD!

I had lost hope. Tailbone pain after hip replacements didn't allow me to sit for more than 30 minutes and forget riding a bike. Shots, adjustments, PT either pain stayed the same or increased. Few visits with Beth, even after the 1st one, some relief, more visits gave me the tools to manage the pain and reduce it on my own. Do your homework and be patient, she know what she is talking about and she has helped me immensely!

My husband was referred to Beth by his physician and we found her approach to be both wholistic and practical. Her skill set and experience has provided him with a variety of options to try to work with him to determine what approach to pursue to improve his situation, even if complete resolution of his issues isn't possible.

After RP followed by radiation, I had great difficulty with bladder control. Frequency, urgency, and leakage were all problems. My urologist recommended finding a pelvic floor physical therapist. Beth Shelly was the only physical therapist that that found who specialized in pelvic floor and had a doctorate in physical therapy. Beth is also completely professional in discussing these personal issues.
I saw success in the first couple weeks but as the therapy progressed in a period of about 3 to 4 months I was where I was at prior to radiation. Beth has empowered me to continue my therapy at home with the hope that I may be able to live life without a urinary shield in the near future.

Beth Shelly provided mentorship for me as I work towards certification in biofeedback for pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. She is an evidenced based therapist and researcher who sets a high standard for out field. She was incredibly helpful as a mentor because she took me out of my comfort zone in a way that challenges thinking and encourages growth. I highly recommend her as a mentor!

Beth has been tremendously helpful for me. I was getting nowhere with my specialist that kept doing tests and giving me medication. I got a referral to Beth and things all made sense and I am much much better. It is a process but worth it. Thank you Beth!

This came up with my wife's name. I am Dale Barber and I selected Dr. Beth Shelly for therapy related to my diagnosis of prostate cancer. I met with Beth prior to surgery to gain an understanding of the therapy process and have now completed therapy following the surgery. Beth is an outstanding therapist and shows true compassion for her patients. She taught me the processes for strengthening the pelvic muscles and provided information ranging from pad selection and usage to the importance of following the exercise regimen. In six weeks my leakage problem has been reduced dramatically and I have gained new confidence related to bladder control issues. I give Beth my highest rating as a therapist and caring person.

I was referred to Beth for what I thought to be a prostate problem. I experienced discomfort while sitting for over a year, and assumed the problem to be an enlarged prostate—even though my levels were normal. Over the course of a few visits Beth was able to demonstrate that I had a pelvic floor muscle problem vs.a prostate problem. I never thought I would experience normality again, but am grateful to have experienced it. I can’t recommend Beth highly enough.

I'm positive that I would not have got my results with out Beth. I live near Peoria, IL and the 75 minute drive was well worth it. After surgery I went from zero bladder control to almost completely dry, and only In the first three months with Beth. We expect complete control by 6 months. The first month it felt impossible, but Beth got the results we wanted. Thank you so much, and also a Thank You to Chicago University of Medicine for recommending you. Thank You!

Having to have prostate surgery, I was referred to Beth Shelly for therapy prior to and after surgery. This was very good, as she worked with me to help post surgery leakage, and as it worked out, I have had no leakage in the six weeks since surgery. She is very helpful, and does ask you to stick to her instructions. If I ever have need for a Physical Therapist again, It will definitely be Beth Shelly.

I was referred to Dr Shelly from the University of Iowa after continuing pain several months following an emergency surgery. I was skeptical at first that she would be able to help, but after a number of sessions, I can report that I am doing much better and she has given me tools to help control future pain. She is great to work with, explains everything in an open and honest manner, and is genuinely seeking to help. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Beth Shelly is a great clinician and a wonderful person. She is very dedicated to helping you with your medical concerns (for me it was sacral pain) and your over all wellbeing. She takes the time to educate you on your condition and uses terms and language that is easily understood. She also helps you to understand what your body is telling you and how that plays a role in your recovery/rehabilitation. Beth is one of the best in her field and I always highly recommend her to others!

I've suffered with interstital cystitis since 2007 and have seen countless numbers of doctors- family physicians, urologist, pain specialist, physical therapist, chiropractors, acupuncturist, pain psychotherapist. Besides adding numerous amounts of medication that had side effects & several surgeries- including an interstim, pain pump which resulted in an infection that lead to months of IV antibiotics. To say I was desperate for pain relief would be an understatement. Finally I was directed to Beth by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She took her time and discovered the root of my problem being my pelvic floor muscles creating the pain whereas all the other drs never looked beyond treating my bladder. She took her time to fully evaluate my body to describe how to relieve this pain. When we began treatment, pain would immediately release like she pushed a button! I even noticed referred pain in my back trigger up during that time because my body was releasing so much pain. She was able to teach me exercises to continue at home and that has been huge for me with being a mom of twins and living over an hr away! Beth has given me control over my own life when before pain use to control it and now I can intercept that! If you're uncertain of whether or not you should give her a try.don't be like me. Initially I waited thinking, another PT, they're all the same, why bother! But she is not the same, she is educated! I've had so much success thanks to Beth!

I am 74 years of age and male. I came to Dr. Shelly for pudental nerve damage and I have been to Mayo Clinic, Peoria and other local doctors to no avail. Dr. Shelly has been wonderful helping me to sit again, stand and sleep which I have not been able to do for 20 years without pain. I would recommend her highly. She is friendly and professional and I am getting better every week.
