Usually I like Hertz because President's Club service and on airport convenience (justifying a premium price). Got to Ft Lauderdale Dec 23 about 3 p.m. With the record crowd and was shocked. Two people at counter, one not working. Person at counter was having major issues - at least 15 minutes, indeed they actually come out and told the waiting line to move back to lane! Did not have my Presidents Club name on board (once at counter - long line, unhappy people - no problem reservation on computer). However when I went out to Gold Circle deck, NO SUVs, indeed almost no cars). Waited a while and found an SUV but was not told it was all electric - check out guy sent me back for trade in (would not have worked for me, should be marked). After a few haggles (others were also jumping at whatever came in) got a set of keys for an ok KIA which I had to take back to desk for more waiting and swap (still only one on duty but second at least gone not just sitting). We all commented the regular line (5 workers at desk) would have been quicker. When I got to KIA someone else was already loading luggage but as I had key it was not going to be his (still management can not like that dynamic). Will note I had written a quick review and to its credit Hertz apologized and said they would forward so giving more detail. Shortage of product on the Saturday before Christmas on a record travel day I can understand. An unhappy Presidents Club line with loyal customers treated as second rate is UNACCEPTABLE! C-Suite, educate or fire the manager in charge of operations for your President's Club desk on 12/23/2023 at 3 p.m. I remain a loyal customer BECAUSE I know you take these less tgan stellar reviews seriously. On a good note, KIA is fine and gas mileage means very reasonable to operate. See you soon.

BEWARE OF ONSITE REPRESENTATIVES. SHADY SCAMMERS! The representative who "checked" me in added insurance services without my knowledge! I booked and paid in full in October. I got to the counter, gave him my reservation #, he said needed to update the card in their facility that I used online. I gave him my card. I was not asked to add any insurance or any other additional services. I was not provided any other paperwork. He said great please just sign the pinpad and pick any car in the GOLD aisle. That was it. I didn't get an email updating me with a new additions. I didn't know until after I returned the car and was emailed a final receipt. I am a repeat customer, but this is slimy behavior and if not remedied I will never use hertz again. Plenty of other options at FLL.

I should have listened to the other reviews but I just thought it’s Hertz how bad can it be? The answer, bad!
Booked a 7 seat SUV 3 weeks in advance and arrive to be told they don’t have one! We end up being offered a small suv with no room for bags. The guy at the desk said they could give me $75 discount which was not a discount at all as we paid for a more expensive vehicle. I asked for a manger and was told to stand in a long line of all the others waiting to speak to him. Just try any of the other rentals they can’t be any worse than this.

The horrible customer service takes away from the rental experience. I paid for my rental in full in advance and was issued a $500 hold fee on my card without prior notification. Upon the rental's return, I was told that the money would be refunded within 24 hours. Over 48 hours later, still no refund! I will not recommend Hertz services to my associates or clients ever again!

If I could give negative stars I would. JJ the supervisor/manager is the most unprofessional person I have had the unfortunate luck of dealing with. She was terribly rude, is unethical and treats her team with no respect. Any person in leadership who is willing to berate her team in front of clients does not need to be in a leadership position. Any person who is willing to be unethical and lie to customers should not be dealing with customers and clients. I would be very disappointed to have her leading my team and assisting my clients.

Our family vacation was made even better with the seamless van rental process from Hertz. Renting the van was quick and hassle-free, allowing us to get on the road without any delays. The van itself was almost brand new and impeccably clean, making our journey comfortable and enjoyable. We couldn't have asked for a better rental experience, and we highly recommend Hertz for their excellent service and top-notch vehicles!

Horrible. I’ve been told everyday for a month I would receive a callback and absolutely nothing. This location has still not closed out my rental from a month ago and won’t provide a receipt, I will NEVER work with enterprise Fort Lauderdale ever again. Go to Alamo or literally anywhere else, this location is horrible

Very friendly customer service. I was an hour early to pick up the car which wasn't a problem at all. Rented a Ford Mustang convertible. Always had great experiences with Hertz so far.

When I got to the desk. The rep asked if I wanted basic insurance or premium. I said I guess just basic but I really do not need insurance because my insurance company covers this already. They added insurance to my bill and I did not understand what happened until after I left. I tried to call back and was not able to get anyone in billing over the weekend. That was very misleading. They should have asked do you need insurance or not? Not which insurance do you want. Which makes it seem like you had to have insurance with Hertz. Also I picked out online a class B car (ford focus or similar) I asked when I got to the desk what car I had so I could change if needed and he said pick whichever car you want on row 3. Keep in mind this was at the airport so I could not see without leaving the front desk and the line was very long. All cars on row 3 were the exact same car. All chevy sparks. According to the Hertz website chevy sparks are a economy car not class B so I got charged for something better than the car I was issued. I called customer support they would not do anything about either issue. I do not like being mislead and that is how I feel this was. Especially on the website advertising something different and being charged more for less. I asked a manager to call me back and I never got a call back.

Be very careful at this location and double-check everything before signing. Just because you decline extra coverage, they will still add it in. Extremely disappointing - stick with another rental company and avoid Hertz here.

The line was long, 20+ people, and it took nearly an hour to get my car. A few days into the trip the car was having mechanical issues and had to be towed. The replacement car had issues with the transmission/gear shifter. I dealt with it because I needed a vehicle, but it was troubling having to hassle the gear shifter to go into park. Compared to what I usually get, both cars had high mileage, and I use all the rental companies. This was by far my worsts car rental experience. The next time I’ll be sure to go with a different rental company.

I have used Budget for years, however, Priceline had a great deal for Hertz. Rented a car for 5 days, price was 436 bucks. Not bad right? The rental reservation said Volkswagen Jetta or equivalent. Got to the terminal early, checked in, did the agreement. Firstly so will say the woman at the reservation counter, absolutely hates her job. No customer service attitude and just wanted to keep attempting to get me to agree to add ons. Got the reservation contract and headed into the parking garage. Got to the designated spot and low and behold, we were put into a Kia Soul. You know, the little cube car that the gerbils ride in on the commercial! Was not pleased at all. Not wanting to wait in line again and deal with the lady again, we did the walk around, hopped in, and enjoyed our vacation. I’m a big guy, 6’ 1” tall and about 240lbs. This car made me feel kind of compressed into the car. You me piece of advice, when you get your contract look at the top of the white receipt, in small print with tell you the make and model of the car before leaving the terminal. Lastly, they charged me a $200 deposit on checkin even though I prepaid the trip a month ago. When so questioned it, she told me that you cannot rent a car without a deposit which is false, I have literally never paid a deposit with budget when I prepay. They retain the credit card info on file in the event I have additional charges like tolls. I will never use hertz again.

Rented a car from 830am to 3pm the same day, only 5.5 hours, and it cost $183, which is already a ridiculous price for half a day.

Rodrigo, the manager, made it a worse experience as he checked us out and just added on basic coverage and other options to our price without telling us it how much each addition will cost. Then he asked me to sign the contract without even telling us the price had changed. I almost signed but thought something was weird about the way he kept pushing addons and not telling me the price. Good thing I did, saved me from paying an additional $45!

He also said he would give us a Fusion because it is nice. Lo and behold, when we got to parking slot 212, he gave us a Malibu instead. It was a decent car, but why tell us he's giving us a Fusion when he is not going to?

Very unfriendly, no explanation for different options and costs, tries to make you sign for things without explaining the pricing differences. Definitely do not recommend Hertz.

Awful customer service. Manager is rude and so are the people working. I declined services and then when I left I saw that I got charged for them. I called hertz and they said I will get a refund once I return the car. The manager Otis refused to give it to me despite what corporate had written in my contract. I waited for the manager 30-45 mins and at that time there were about 20 people waiting for the manager. If that many people were waiting to see the manager then clearly a lot of things are wrong. 0/10 would recommend. The other reviews also say that multiple people declined insurance coverage and still got charged. This place is a scam.

If all is well that ends well applies then I would give it a five star. My flight was delayed and I was due to arrive after closing. Dealing with the customer support was a nightmare. No one answers the phone at the airport and the regular hertz support number was horrible. Every agent gave me a different contradictory answer. Here's the good part- I made it to the counter at 12: 10 and even though the support number told me they close promptly at midnight, Kevin was there and told me they stay an extra hour after closing. (If the customer support would have shared that, it would have solved a lot of my unnecessary worries!) Kevin was a pleasure to work with and he got me taken care of quickly and efficiently. He was professional, kind and an employee that hertz should be proud to have on staff! So Kevin gets a 5+ and customer service gets a 1-.

Hertz owns Thrifty, so it didn't seem right they could pawn off bad reviews to another company and escape the hit themselves. So here's a one star review for you too, Hertz.

A lot of the car rental companies in Athens are off property.

They're usually less expensive than the ones that are in the terminal, but in my opinion the hassle is not worth the slight savings.

You usually have to wait for a shuttle to take you to and from the airport, which usually takes over an hour.

With Hertz you get the keys in the airport, walk outside and drive off the property with your rental car. To me you can't put a price on that kind of convenience.

Car reserved wasn’t there. Tried to downgrade me for same price. Then put me in a vehicle with 70k miles. I’d recommend use a different company. Very few cars avail also.

The express service is too express.it was an easy process to pick up a car at FLL airport. A Hertz worker in the parking lot pointed us to the compact section and walked away. Our flight was a little late so we took the only compact car left. It was so small we could only fit one suitcase and a couple small to medium bags on top of each other in the "trunk. " We put the smaller suitcase in the back seat. I know cars get smaller and thouight that's the way it is. Now I see online that we were given a subcompact with no option to change that. In the past other companies would say at the counter that there were no cars left in that class and discuss options. I cant get thtough to the FLL airport Hertz counter to discuss this and give feedback.

Horrible they close at midnight. If your flight delays, you will not have any choice, but to get Lyft or Uber. Will end up costing lot more. 35 minutes distance around $100+

I waited a very long time in line at this hertz location. It was a long wait to check in that had about 4 people checking. The car that I got was great! I loved it. I guess it was worth the wait- although I was in line for over 40 minutes. When returning the car, we can really tell that they were understaffed. Only one person in returns, so no one could get a receipt. (I still haven't gotten a receipt.)

Land in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale, run the gambit to the bus, get to the rental car torture center. I know rentals are difficult right now. But over 2 hours standing in line, not exactly covid friendly. 3 of the slowest people working the desk, at least 3 open spots at desk. One "cooler" was working the line to prevent a riot from breaking out, would have been better served behind the desk. One disappeared from the desk for a half hour before his replacement showed up. She was awesome and was ripping through the line, while the others were still at a pace.
Finally get to the desk. Can barely hear the guy between his mask and overwhelming din of disappointment coming from the ever filling line. Was offered a "free upgrade", or so I thought, nothing was mentioned about price until we were ready to pull out of the garage. THAT guy was the most honest one there. Wasn't going to sign us up for the plate tolling if we didn't need it, we did. KEY POINT, CHECK BEFORE YOU GET HERE, 99% sure I could have brought my IPASS (wrapped in aluminum foil) and added the rental for MUCH less than their rip off.
Will be fighting with them to get charges back, I am sure there is politely nothing they can do.
Next time I'll stick with Enterprise.
Hertz is a very skilled con artist.

Run as fast as you can from this Fort Lauderdale, FL Airport location! I got a rental from this location dirty! And no gas! And when I brought it back a week later on a full tank of gas and requested my money back, they gave me a voucher to spend with them. This is total unacceptable for a anyone that gave you a rental back on a full tank of gas when you never gave it to me in the condition that was stated in a contract. Last time I will do business with this company. Go to Thrifty, Dollar, Avis.etc!

The cars brakes go to the floor. I left my jacket in the car when back to get it and everyone I talked to would help me to get it. And the lady at the counter was very rude. I know I shouldn't of left it. But but when you ask for help to they shouldn't roll there eyes at you and say I don't know what to tell you.

We used Hertz a few weeks ago when visiting Florida (June 11- June 16th). I purchased a rental car through Priceline because at the time they were having a great deal.

My daily rate was $32.48 for a compact car. After taxes & fees and DECLINING the insurance online my total was $298.61.

When we arrived to pick up the car; the lines were very long. We weren't bothered because we knew we had a reservation. Approaching the counter the rep asked for my credit card and name. She pecked at the keyboard for a quick bit before asking, 'Do you want to add the extra coverage? '

I verbally said "No, I have progressive insurance, so I'm covered". I reached for my wallet to show proof of insurance to her, but without reacting, SHE took the card I had previously handed her and put it into the credit card reader in front of us. She then asked me to 'agree and sign'.

At the time I thought this was strange, but we were already nervous about actually getting a car based on the horror stories of rental companies over promising and under delivering, so I overlooked it. Unsuspectingly I signed, thinking I was only signing to take possession of the rental car as one might normally do. We didn't think to look at the forms she handed us and obliviously walked out to find a car.

We returned the car as instructed, full tank, on time & clean. When we returned home I noticed a strange charge on my card for roughly $204. I immediately called Hertz (corporate) to ask what the charge was for. The representative told me "you opted in for the extra vehicle coverage".

"No, I didn't" I replied. "I verbally told the rep I didn't need it. "

He went on to explain that they have my signature stating I agreed to the charge and because it's a situation of 'he said, she said' I would need to take it up with the specific hertz rental agency I rented from. Literally unwilling to do anything for me.

So; I found the number for Fort Lauderdale Hertz. When I called no one answered, but I was able to leave a message, so I did.

No one returned my call; so the next day I tried again, and yet again no one answered and it went to a voicemail. I left another message.

Finally fed up I called my credit card company and I told them what had happened, every bit of detail. They opened a case and refunded me the money; but stated Hertz would have the opportunity to reply to 'provide proof' I agreed to the extra costs.

July 7th, Hertz sent (falsified - in my opinion) documentation to my credit card company, and my credit card company put the charge back on my account. Even to this day no one from Hertz has called me back. When I saw the charge again (today) I called my credit card company and asked what I needed to do to fight this, explaining to them that I can't get ahold of anyone at Hertz to even dispute this with them directly, as their Hertz corporate office stated I needed to do.

I'm now filing another wrongful charge against them, and this time writing my account down in detail. I have tried again to call Hertz Fort Lauderdale to a no answer again, but this time I was greeted with a "FULL MAILBOX"! Additionally, I've been on hold trying to get ahold of Hertz corporate for 35 minutes at this point in my review.

I have a strong feeling they know what is going on, and they are swindling people out of money. Renting cars for less than rental agencies, only to 'make their money back' by adding on extra insurance you didn't want.

If there isn't already a class action lawsuit; there SHOULD BE, and I will willingly sign it.

- UPDATE-

After weeks of being not being able to reach anyone at the facilty, and all my messages going ignored, I reached out to hertz' Facebook page.

There I was able to message with someone who listened too my story and agreed, I deserved a refund.

I am grateful for the outcome, but will still never use hertz again.

Rental date: 06/13/2021 I arrived at the airport on time to pick up the car, however, had to wait over an hour in line because there were only two representatives helping a very long line of people. When I finally got to the counter, the representative was very short and unprofessional, seemed annoyed at having to answer any questions. I declined any additional insurance or products and he explained I would have to pay extra to add an additional driver which I understood therefore, didn't add another driver. He told me to press accept and sign, in order to move onto getting the vehicle. A week later once I returned the car I got a charge of over $200 which I didn't understand since my rental was pre-paid to Priceline. The fuel was returned full and I knew it wasn't tolls. Once I called they told me the charge was for "additional products" loss damage insurance which I specifically had told the representative I did NOT want. This was more than the rental itself. No wonder he was annoyed that I asked questions and told me in order to get the car I had to press accept and sign. I was with my toddler whom was very tired of waiting and that's why I let this person rush me into signing. Be careful and don't let them rush you, take your time and read everything and ask the necessary questions so this doesn't happen to you. Also, when I called and asked to speak to a manager, there wasn't any available and no complaint department either.

Upon initially visiting Hertz on July 11,2021 to pickup my rental vehicle, the location did not have the vehicle class available that I reserved (small elite sedan group X6 Mercedes or Audi). I settled for a chrysler 300, only to find out that same evening that the vehicle was infested with spiders. Monday afternoon (07/12/2021) I returned to Hertz to exchange the Chrysler 300. The representative offered me a Mercedes, which smelled like a fast food restaurant, had a torn sunroof, and registration inside the vehicle was EXPIRED. I declined the Mercedes for all of these reasons. The representative then offered me an Infiniti Q50. Upon requesting to add my husband as an authorized driver, he mentioned it would be an additional $18 per day. There was no mention of this fee on my first visit in which I picked up the Chrysler 300. When I questioned him, it was magically “waived”. I truly felt like Hertz was just trying make more money from me at this point, instead of a valued “Gold Member”.

The Infiniti Q50 was all scratched up on the outside, however I accepted it to avoid the headache of going back inside. I don’t feel like the price that I paid was equivalent to the service nor vehicles that I was offered. I will avoid Hertz at all costs from now on and stick to Enterprise.

FYI: there was no “gold standard clean seal” on ANY of the 3 vehicles that I encountered.

Couldn't find the entrance to drop the vehicle. There is no sign on site indicating the entrance. I've been turning around for more than 30 mns. Tried to call the office over the phone, and ig was an answering machine.

Customer service was friendly! But the overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The first vehicle was dysfunctional, exchanged that for one that had, "change engine oil" and the worse part is the phone service leads you to nowhere. VERY FRUSTRATING! #BEMOREWELCOMING AND ACCOMODATING #THINGSHAPPEN #UNHAPPYCUSTOMER
