Thought I would take this opportunity to warn others about this location. We had reserved a car after a cruise, I had a corporate rate so it was a fairly cheap rental but agreed to pay. 15 per mile for the rental. We jumped in the car and realized the tank was half full so jumped out and went back in and was told to take a picture and return it with the same amount (yeah right). So instead of travelling to Sarasota right away our first trip was to the gas station. When we handed the car in at TPA 4 days later the attendant asked us if the tank was full and I said yes, even though we picked it up half full. He said to go complain to the local office, then asked if we agreed to the. 15 per mile I said yea and he showed us the $800 invoice we were getting. I said it should be around $50. So we went to the booth with our photos and got the bill corrected. Fort Lauderdale had the odometer @ 1 mile instead of the true mileage. TPA guys were great, the Fort Lauderdale guys are an issue that should be dealt with. I would not rent from that location again, extremely shady.

Car they gave us ended up being a bit of a hunk of junk, but the shuttle to pick us up from the cruise terminal arrived promptly and on time. Never had to call up to request it, which was nice and saved us a LOT of hassle.

Waiting more than one hour for the shuffle from the cruise and the shuffle is realy too small to pick up every one

Unfortunately and similar to other reviews…had a fully prepaid reservation with Avis…when I arrived all cars were “sold out”? What’s the point of a prepaid reservation?
Also like 4 other customers came in after me with reservations and had to be turned away. This was quite laughable but also sad. I feel bad for the staff who have to deal with angry customers who make plans and think they reserved cars.
Based on this experience, Avis/Budget is clearly unreliable, at least at this location, and wasted mine and others’ time…so just going to choose a different company next time because it should not be this ridiculous esp when you have prepaid!

The cars were not there and ready. Everyone had to wait for cars so obviously it's a standard way of operating. Somehow that should be included in the knowledge base if you book after cruise you will have to wait. Was between 30 and 60 minute wait. Avis has been the best to me always and this was not great.

I have been calling this location for the past 2 months now over belongings I left in a rental in orlando! They have not answered and customer service and lost and found has not helped at all. I do not recommend

Their website advertises free shuttle pick up at the cruise port, with shuttles waiting at the pier. If there are no shuttles, call them for a pick-up. Our reality was no shuttle, and no way to speak to a real person on the phone. After waiting an hour, we gave up and took a local cab. The rental location was what you might experience in a third world country. Filthy dirty with not enough chairs for everyone in the room. The outside restrooms were disgusting. While in line, an agent took our name and told us to take a seat. We had made a reservation months ahead and were surprised when we found they had no cars in inventory to rent. It was another hour wait for a returned car to be cleaned and given to us. We cannot understand why Avis allows this facility to continue to operate, the reviews show a consistent pattern of poor performance.

Awful facility and experience… felt like a third world country dropping rental car off here. To add to that I was charged extra on all estimated fees and an additional hour when no one was around to even help receive the car or print a receipt. I was told I would receive emailed receipt which never made it to my inbox only to find on my credit card statement $75+ over original estimate. Avoid this location at all costs and save yourself the trouble. Funny thing was a facility charge fee that was several dollars higher than estimated and clearly doesn’t go into the facilities. Dirty, no working screens, rude staff, can’t say anything positive…

I’ve only given 1 star because I could not give zero. Used Avis for many years and I am Avis preferred. Will not be using them again! The shuttle is a scam, waited over an hour at the ship even though we were off first. Then not enough room to accommodate everyone. Paid someone who kindly offered us a lift to the Avis location but could not get it reimbursed. No way of contacting depot by phone, all automated and no replies. Complained to Avis but they don’t care either, customer service - they don’t care!
One way rental to Lauderdale $68. Return one day rental in exactly the same vehicle $198. They charged mileage which was hidden nicely in the contract. Never had to pay mileage before in my life!

This was by far the worst car rental pickup I've experienced. I specifically made a reservation at this location for our family of 5 because it's advertised as a cruise port location with a shuttle. My family waited outside the cruise port for 1.5 hours. Despite multiple phone calls to Avis to plead for a shuttle (the automated message says they run every 20-30 minutes) no shuttle ever came. This was especially frustrating because I called and confirmed shuttle service with the location 2 weeks prior. We ended up paying for an Uber to get to the rental location.

When we finally arrived at the Avis location, we found two empty shuttles in the parking lot and a lobby full of disgruntled guests. It doesn't matter if you have the Avis app or any preferred status - this place doesn't use any technology to expedite your pickup. I waited in line for another hour before being able to speak to an Avis representative. She was unapologetic for our delay and seemed surprised that we were upset. We asked about the shuttle (or lack thereof) and were told that it's complementary. I guess that word means something else to Avis.

Despite having a reservation that began 3.5 hours prior to our actual arrival time at the counter, I was told they didn't have a vehicle for us. Most of the folks in the room were waiting over an hour just to be called if Avis found a vehicle for their reservation. The Avis rep told us this is normal when a cruise ship comes in. Reservations and cruise itineraries aren't secret - and Avis's poor planning is a terrible excuse.

Do not rent from this location, they are the worst! Shuttle refused to pick us up, no cars for rent even though we had a reservation, just a complete lack of customer support. We finally went to the airport and rented from someone else.

We will never come back to this horrible place. Shuttle from cruiseship was 1,5 hours waiting. Then one hour in Line at this rental place. They did not provide a GPS as we prepaid and prebooked. Come on… How difficult can it be. Horrible place horrible people working there.

Rude staff, manager is poor with his customer service. Not preferred service. No welcome. Abrupt when asking questions he didn't need to ask. Probably won't use the brand again based on this experience

I was nervous to get a rental from this place after reading all the terrible reviews but my experience was excellent. The pickup and return was quick and easy. The people that helped me were friendly. The car was clean and in great condition. Very pleased with my experience.

I booked full size and the guy told me only Minivan. I saw 4 cars in back yard. Don’t waste your time here

This place is a nightmare! They wouldn’t let us in the preferred line even with our preferred membership online. It took over an hour to get our rental car and they had a super light staff. They said it’s always a wait this long with them. Get some more employees and offer some better service already.

The place was un-maintained and lacking of car selections. Owner was not aware of issue of his car. We had to come back twice to switch our cars due to alignment and cleanliness issues.

Horrible experience! When I got there, it was no cars available. I waited almost an hour to be told I couldn’t get a vehicle because I have a Uber car I rent in Ohio! So mad, then my card was charged! I came to Hertz down the way and got me a vehicle immediately.

I would put 0 stars if I could. Made reservation, spend $40 on Uber ride just to head "sorry sir we have 0 cars. Gues what another $40 Uber ride back to the hotel.

Absolute terrible service. Worst car rent ring experience I’ve ever had. I don’t ever write reviews but I had to for this bs experience. I rented a car from here, that wasn’t inspected, they gave it to me with 3/4 tank, reeked of cigarettes and a faulty tire that popped on the highway. Then they made me drive 2 hours from where I was on a donut that I had to install to “exchange” it for another car. So they re rented me out a pos car, and their response was “we can’t attest to that” smh. And then at the end of it all when I’m returning the car, they can’t even tell me what I’m actually paying, first it was 480 then it was 560 then it was 620, then it was 541.terrible experience and a horrible service, never renting from here again.

Horribly run place, made a reservation, waited over 2 hours for vehicle to be ready, others were complaining about waiting an hour and a half for theirs. Only 2 employees running the front counter, you'd expect when 160-300 people are getting off of a cruise ship to rent a car vehicles would be more readily available and more counter employees. Very small operation that needs help and lots of it!

Terrible service, pick up was terrible, all other rental companies had buses one after the other except Avis. When we finally got to the office to get the card, they said we would have to wait 2-3 hours. I walked across to the Alamo next door and got a car immediately and cancelled Avis and would never use them here EVER.beWARE as this happened to many people almost every day

Sold me the gas package with 1/2 tank gone marked full. Nobody at Avis will address. Always someone else's problem. Oh and 90 minutes to get the car. Try harder my a**. Never again.

We had a truly outstanding experience with Ronald from Avis. He was very attentive and on the busiest days of the year, was able to fix our reservation with no issue. Excellent employee, thank you Ronald!

This is the absolutely worst location I ever been at. I been here a Hour waiting and I still haven’t even got to the counter. I am a preferred member and always use Avis. If you can avoid this location please please do!

Great service. We got off our cruise early and knew they didn't open till 8AM, but went to sit outside and wait. They opened early for us to get us moving with our day. Helped us with the rental and a a few extras.

Free 5 minute shuttle from cruise ship. Fast friendly service. Although I arrived 2 hours early they had my reserved vehicle ready for pickup. Highly recommend rather than going to airport facility. And did I say FREE shuttle!

Good service. Certainly easier than getting a car from Miami international airport. Slightly disappointed the car didn't have sat nav when the same model did last year. Needs to be continuity in the rentals.

Had a rental from Orlando to here for a cruise. No problems just dropped it off, us and another couple got shuttled to the ship terminal. Customer service was really good and smooth.
